My first Mac lippie and worth the investment. I love a red lippie and this is really glamourous and very wearable. I find it easier to wear than Ruby Woo but I always get compliments on both. Not as drying as Ruby Woo but it's advisable to prep your lips before wearing it.
Russian Red, it a blue-based, Hollywood Glamour lippie! I originally purchased it, b/c of Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair July 2008 Cover! It was such a stirking red! It's considered matte, but is WAY more creamier than MAC ruby woo! This can wear off ever so SLIGHTLY, if you don't use a lip liner and dust it w/ transluscent powder-but the pigment is insane!! Love this lippie! When paired w/ Ruby Woo, becomes the ultimate red imo!
I abs luuuv Russian Red lipstick....its just perfect for my golden yellow NC20-NC25 skin tone....It instantly makes me luk like a diva....totally gorgeous....Th color is really bright and doesnt seem to hve a strong warm or cool leaning.....Th texture is really matte, creamy and easy to apply....Th only flip side is tht once I apply ths lipstick, all focus goes on th lips, n th remaining of my facial makeup tends to feel a tad left out....:)
This is an amazing red lipstick. I have fair, NW15-20, dark hair, blue-green eyes. Its amazing. You need confidence to pull this off, but if you have strong/high contrast coloring, this is your red ls. When I put on red ls, I prime with Paulas Choice clear lipliner, use Touche Eclat (or any highlighter pen) around the edges of the lips. Then I apply it carefully following the lip lines, THEN I follow with a red liner (I use Chanel) it neatens the line. You can also pat this on and use your finger to smudge it, for a lip-stain like look. Do not be discouraged by neg reviews, they either don't have the right coloring, (neutral/cool) or they don't have the confidence to wear red lipstick. p.s. Be SURE to do the "finger-pulling" technique after applying to make sure you don't get it on your teeth!
Vibrant red, matte lipstick. Highly pigmented and smooth upon application. As with any matte lipstick, it can be a bit drying. Good for a special night out on the town. The matte finish isn't my style (it was a gift). I prefer a satin or a creamsheen. I've reached for it maybe 3 times within the last year and during the winter months.
This lipstick is so pretty. A darker red that stands out. It is a matte so there is no shine and that is what i was looking for. It does dry up your lips so take care of them and moisturize! other than that it is great, best red and quality. the packaging is cute and small.
This is a lipstick that makes me feel like an old movie star when I wear it. Seriously, if I have a cold or the flu, or if I just don't feel like pulling myself together to walk the dog, I just slip this on before I walk out the door and it completely transforms me. It's a Serious Red. There is no ambivalence about that. It's been described as a "blue" red, but it looks rather warm to me, unless you compare it side by side with a "warm" red like Viva Glam. Still, it works beautifully on me.
The only red lipstick I've found that suits absolutely all skin tones! A classic for sure.
Mac's most famous red lipstick, Russian Red, is essentially the quintessential "true" red lipstick. It is slightly cool/blue toned but can appear neutral depending on coloring, and a nice balance of brightness and depth. This color is very flattering on a huge variety of skin tones. Like most of MAC's mattes, it applies smoothly, has plenty of pigment, lasts well, etc. I find it only mildly, if at all, drying. As far as color comparisons to MAC's similar matte reds go, Ruby Woo is slightly cooler and brighter, and Lady Danger is warm toned.
BEST RED LIPSTICK EVER !!!!!
it's the true flashy red you're looking for
