After reading all the positive reviews of this mascara, I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. I have naturally long, full lashes but this mascara did absolutely NOTHING for them (no volume, no thickness and not even any length). The only things this mascara did do make my lashes lose the curl, flake and it smeared horribly, literally the second after putting it on, leaving me with panda eyes. Worst mascara I've ever tried. I've had dollar store mascaras that perform better than this one. Will probably just throw it out as it is useless to me and will definitely never repurchase this.
It does a great job of creating voluminous, clump-free lashes, but it does almost nothing to lengthen lashes. The packaging is old lady style.
I love this stuff. It makes my lashes obnoxiously glam. I don't like a 'clean' or 'natural' looking mascara. That's not why I wear makeup. If I'm spending time on my look, you'd better see me coming! That's not to say I want to look all Tammy Faye Baker but I like a luscious lash. This delivers. After one coat, all my finest lashes are already thicker and fuller. After two coats, I'm glam and done.
I'd have given this a full 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that the product is a little funky. When you first open the tube, it's runny and flicks all over my lids. However, after about 2 weeks, it's thick enough to coat my lashes without much fallout. I'd recommend leaving it open for 30-60 minutes on first use to get the right texture on the first use. Also, you definately have to scrape off product before brushing your lashes because tons of product does get on the wand. Occasionally, when I'm in a rush, I do end up having to comb my lashes to separate more.
It is, though, the closest I've gotten to an HG mascara.
I am not surprised by the last reviewer who said that she use to use Lancome - but she likes this. It is b/c (as I have heard), L'Oreal owns Lancome or vice versa. Their mascara formulas are very similar, and I have to say this mascara is amazing! Really black (Blackest Black) and does the trick! Save your money and go with L'Oreal mascara. I have also used this for years and have tried others but I always come back to this! It's a basic in my makeup collection!
My mother has been wearing this mascara for decades (!) and I never bothered to try it until recently. I was all about using "fancy" mascara from Sephora. However, I ran out of my usual Lancome and I decided to pick this up seeing as my mother won't use anything else. her lashes are look nice and dark, so why not, right? Lo and behold, this stuff is actually pretty great! It doesn't clump and stays on all day. My dental hygienist actually pointed out how long my lashes were and said "Wow!" That made me feel pretty good seeing as I have short, very light lashes normally. I wish it were a bit cheaper but that’s just me being a penny pincher. I hope it goes on sale soon! I’ve already repurchased a few times. Give it a try if you want a good daily mascara. :) I'm still on the hunt for something a little more dramatic, but I'm using this for now!
I ended up tossing this about three weeks after buying.
Pros: does a decent job volumizing and defining. Fairly buildable.
Cons: packaging is bad. Waaaaay too much product on the wand, which means I have to wipe excess off each time I use. Not exactly the most cost-effective way to use a product.
Overall I just found this product to be inferior to other mascara's to are easier/more pleasant to use and that cost less (Essence). Will not repurchase.
This is my favorite mascara ever! I have tried all types of mascaras including Lancôme, Estée Lauder, etc. and this one is by far the best one for me. It separates, gives length and volume without making it clumpy. I love it!
I have tried quite a lot of mascaras. Every time I run out, I try a new one, and write the review here in MUA because I have the mission to find my holly grail mascara. I LOVED the discontinued revlon everylash curling mascara and another discontinued maybelline lash stylist. So back to the review... I had very high expectations about this mascara, and it i did not let me down, my lashes look so good, long, thick, curly, black and dramatic, but come on, Im pretty sure there is something better out there, I'll keep looking to find it.
This is similar to diorshow blackout and maybelline colossal. I know this is not the best review! This product performs better when its a little dry after one month of use.. and you will get the best of it.
I always get L'oreal voluminous CARBON black mascara, the mascara wand is a little different then the regular voluminous & I think it makes your lashes look INCREDIBLE. It's a lot of volume and it doesn't look caked on, it's super pretty. I'd recommend L'orreal voluminous Carbon black too anyone!
I truly love this mascara. It delivers amazing results -- thick, rich, luscious lashes. The end results is strong enough that you can skip liner and still have a defined eye. Plus I get a nice curl from this even without curling my lashes. Is it perfect - no. Is it dummy proof - no. Is it a great product for the price and results - yes.
- Lengthens and thickens
- Deliver a dark, rich look
- Is comparably inexpensive for what it delivers
- Love the brush - rubber does not and never will do it for me - it really grips the lashes and coats them
- Easy to remove - I just wash my face with my usual cleanser and it comes off
- You absolutely have to give ANY L'Oreal mascara a two week breaking in period. They all tend to start too wet and then end up in an amazing place. Patience will be rewarded. Carry a lash comb in the beginning.
- It will clump if you apply to many layers - but I find you don't need as many for the desired result
- A lot comes out of the tube, I am constantly scraping the sides. If you skip this step, hello spider town!
All this said, I have pretty dark, thick lashes naturally. However, they are straight and need a "boost" to really frame my eyes. This product does that amazingly well. Two to three coats carefully applied gets the job done (vs. CG Clump Crusher which didn't deliver for me after 6 coats - rather grapple with possible clumps than not get the look I want).
