I have now had this twice. I swapped for this after long time lemming and I found this powder really dry and hard to apply, it just did not blend as well as my Guerlain one did. Application really was not a pleasure. Then I quickly swapped it away. Then a couple of months ago, I suddenly got the urge to buy this again after hearing raves for this and after Estee Lauder had discontinued this for a while and then bring it back. I decided I needed to try this again, maybe my judgement had been faulty. And I purchased a GWP size from ebay as our counter do not give them as often in Finland. And I tried it and I still think it is a load of crap, super dry and unpleasant on my dry skin type. It just feels so bad on me I have very seldom experienced such. It is also very dull looking on me. I do not know why this works on everyone else and not on me. I really tried to like this. But I just cant, Ick.

Such a great bronzer! I used it for 8 years, and it never disappointed me. I have the Soft Matte Bronzer with just a hint of shimmer. Pretty! Compliments my aging skin nicely, blends well and wears long in the humid FL climate. I like the packaging and the product, but not the price. So I probably will not repurchase.
I have three different Bronze Goddess products; the soft shimmer loose powder bronzer, the soft matte pressed powder bronzer and the self-tanning tinted bronzer. The self tanner and matte bronzer I can use on my face and it looks good on my medium skin. The loose powder bronzer has shimmer which I'll use lightly on my shoulders and chest when I want a little extra oomph at night.
Estee Lauder Soft Matte Bronzer in Bronze Goddess is actually a light, slightly shimmery powder bronzer. It is pretty light, which is nice for me since most bronzers make my very fair skin look extremely dirty rather than bronzed. However, it canbe built up, and the wear is decent. I would say it is average for me, but I am not a big fan of bronzers in general.
Lovely, very natural, non-muddy bronzer. not orange or brown at all. just makes me gold and glowy. the brush that comes with this is not the best quality, i use my sephora bronzer brush. the brush that comes with it seems not to pick up enough product. this is very sheer so you have to build to your desired level of bronze and shimmer.
the compact is huge and not handy to carry around, but on the brightside you get your moneys worth and im sure this will last me a very long time.
EDIT: this stuff made me break out! unfortunate because the color is LOVELY and the amount of shimmer is perfect. the search continues

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Self Tan for Face. Price isn't bad..22.50 for a decent amount. I don't like that it smells like tanning lotion and takes a while for it to dry..then it becomes sticky. I used some last night and I woke up in the morning to find that even though I blended it in to my whole face even temples and ears it was unnatural and blotchy. Not the radiant bronze I wanted. I had to cover it up with foundation but it probably needs a little tweaking. Granted I had some stuff on my face when I applied it, this is best applied on clean bare skin and needs to be blended in really well.
I've never owned a bronzer before because the ones i've tried on at the stores were always hideously glittery and/or brown/muddy looking (including NARS Luguna, currently the most reviewed and raved about bronzer on MUA) - not a healthy sun-kissed look i'm going for (i have fair/light yellow based asian complexion). But after scanning through MUA for a contouring powder, i stumbled on this and i have to admit, i liked the packaging. Today when i passed by the EL counter, i stopped out of curiosity to see what it's like in person. The SA tried it on me, it didn't make me look severe (other bronzers i've tried on always made me look sunburned, dirty and/or muddy) but not this one. She swept the bronzer from the nose up and outward to the ears (contouring), going around the temples and lightly along the hairline on my forehead and i instantly looked well-rested (a look i could use any day) and healthy (not dirty, orangy, or brown). i 'm glad i bought it (btw, this refers to the soft-matte bronzer).
Update (June 24, 2009): I returned this to EL because, like the rest of the so-called 'bronzer' products i've tried, this was way too dark for me (since i do not tan), it looked brown and muddy. I guess i'd have to look for a neutral pink/peachy blush that would double as a bronzer and/or contour. Did some reading on MUA and found Cargo Topeka. Apparently quite a few people are using Topeka as a bronzer/contour and are loving it. So i got it, and tested it (applied as contour, under the cheekbones, temples, along the hairline, and jaw) as soon as i got home under bright natural light window, and i looked like i'd just spent a weekend in Bora Bora, getting some sun and plenty of shut eyes - my face glowed a peachy, beachy healthy kind of glow - absolutely believable for my tanless complexion .

This is the first bronzer i ever got and i love it (i have the duo one). The package is really good and builder able, i can add more if i want darker color. One thing I really like about this product is not easy to break unlike other power. (since i drop my makeup a lot) and there are soooo much products in there, i used it for three months for everyday and still look like i just got it. love this products!!
This so pretty on me. I love it. I like to use it as a blush and I look so classy and well put together. I think it has a little pink it. So soft and silky. Very very pretty I have been trying to find others to compare to this and havent. Im might have to get a backup.
this review is for the Soft Shimmer Bronzer (not the matte bronzer). the compact is huge with a mirror inside. while i'm happy that there is a brush included, i'm not sure how to store it. i'm currently leaving the plastic in-between the brush and the actual bronzer.
the color is perfect for my medium skin. at first i was hesitant b/c it looked too shimmery, but then other color looked way too dark (and i'm already naturally tan). i'm glad i picked this one! it gives just a hint of color, and doesn't look over done. it is very natural.
