This was given to me as a gift and it was almost forgotten in my drawer until I ran out of cleanser one day. The cleanser has the consistency of Vaseline while its scent is fairly subtle. I squeezed out a dime sized dollop at first which might have been a mistake because I didn't expect the product to be so oily/waxy. I had to wash off the excess with soap and water. Overall, I do like this product because I have dry areas of skin on my face and acne product areas. This would be a great winter cleanser or for revitalizing skin once or twice a week, but definitely too rich for everyday use.
I know this product does not work for everyone, but I love it. I got a sample of it when I first started college, and I have been using it for the last eight years. When I use it religiously, I do not get zits at all. I never had bad skin, but this keeps everything at bay. It dissolves off my makeup without drying out my face. As long as you use hot water, it works great, and is a refreshing pick me up. The hot water and orange scent are like 5 minutes at the spa. I follow it with the rosewater toner and radiance moisturizer.
I remember having to look all over Houston for the few stores that carried Burts Bees, and now it is everywhere and the price is lower. I guess thats what came about when Clorox bought them out a few years ago.

After using Cetaphil for YEARS as part of my morning skincare routine, I was finally bored of it and decided to try a new morning cleanser. I used to have acne-prone skin so my morning cleanser has always been super gentle (= Cetaphil). Yes it was a bit waxy as other reviewers described (a tiny bit waxier than Cetaphil) but I don't really mind it. Maybe I'm just used to it.
This cleanser is 100% natural, with a refreshing orange fragrance. I have to say orange is not my favourite fruit but I really enjoy the smell of this product.
It is not foamy at all, rather the texture is like a thicker Cetaphil. It could be used on dry or wet face, and it works equally well. My face felt clean, yet moisturised. It is definitely gentle. But do not expect it to remove make up as described on packaging.
The only reason why I gave it four lippies is the packaging. I'm not a bit fan of tubes - I really prefer a pump bottle for cleansers because it is much easier to dispense. Also there's absolutely no description on the packaging about the texture: whether its foamy, or gel-like, or creamy, which is not very helpful at all. I was actually expecting a gentle low-foaming cleanser but it turned out to be gel/lotion ish. Lucky I didn't mind it after years of Cetaphil.
Overall I would only recommend this product to people with sensetive/dry/combo-dry skin, or acne-prone skin seeking a super gentle cleanser.

I actually really like this cleanser. It smells wonderful - like oranges. Although it seems like it would clog pores, it doesn't (at least it didn't for me). It gets my face clean without stripping away moisture, which is wonderful for winter. I actually have fewer blemishes now because it has balanced out my oil production. I typically follow with a light moisturizer. Also, it has a fantastic ingredient list.
I agree with what other people have said about this product. The problem with it is that it makes your face feel very waxy and doesn't do a good job cleaning your face. This cleanser actually makes you feel like you are putting some cream on yourself because it's not foamy at all. I give it 1 star because it is the worst that I've ever had. (I'm sorry for being so mean but it's true. ) :-)
If you don't know what you're getting in advance, I can see where this cleanser could be a fail for you. Typical cleansers strip your skin, making you believe that clean skin feels tight. Oil cleansers emulsify makeup and ss, allowing water to rinse it all away, and leave your skins own barrier intact. There is no foaming or soap involved. Apply the cleanser to your dry face, massaging into the skin as you would use old fashioned cold cream. Then rinse off with warm water, or a warm wash cloth. You don't need to wash your face twice. No clogging of pores or acne issues created. This is my daily cleanser in ss season. I prefer this to a liquid oil cleanser as the packaging is less messy and it won't spill. This will remove waterproof ss, such as shiseido, completely.

I really wanted to like this product since it is made from all natural ingredients. But I can't get over the waxy film that it leaves behind after you rinse it off. Too bad...just not for me. My sample is going in the garbage, unfortunately.
My first thought was who in their right mind wants to twist off a cap everytime they wash their face? A flip top would've been nice. That aside, the cleanser resembles a souffle of fruity orange waxiness similar to the insides of cheap Valentine's Day chocolates. The product vanished into my skin upon application. I added some more but realized that my face was starting to feel like wax museum figure. I like that it has 100% natural ingredients but I question how clean my face is after using this.
UPDATE: I am using this as a hand wash now and prefer this to putting it on my face.

I used this once and threw it away. It definitely leaves a waxy film and it seemed to irritate my skin a bit. It does smell nice. I was just expecting more- Burt's Bees has never disappointed me until now.
I had been buying more expensive natural cleansers but decided to try this because it had the fewest number of ingredients (I dont want all of those drug store chemicals on my skin!!). This REALLY cleans my face...I dont wear too much makeup, just face powder, and the water in my sink is cloudy from all the junk it washes off! I dont feel the waxiness at all, I think because I have been using natural cleansers for a while and non-natural cleansers leave that gross squeaky clean dried out feeling. I dont even have to use a moisturizer after this, which really lets my skin repair itself overnight and just breathe.
Since I switched to natural skin cleansers by skin has improved 100%, I used to have spots of acne that never seemed to go away. Now my face is clear and Im not afraid of anyone seeing my freshly washed face sans makeup! I just spot treat with Burts Bees herbal blemish stick and and problems are usually gone within a couple days.
Definitely recommend this cleanser. If you are just switching to a natural cleanser from cheap chemical salicylic acid cleansers, give it some time to work and take its course. Its worth it!
