Hands down my favorite product by Clinique!!! The reason is not only does this remove every bit of dirt and makeup and dead skin cells from my face I feel it actually FIRMS my face and neck!! I have some bottles of the old #2 CL but I will purchase a REFORMULATED CL in time as well. I hope the new formula is just as good at firming as this original is (was). In summer it is the MOST refreshing feeling u can have after a shower. it makes u feel uber clean. I use it year-round. Yes it does have a strong alcohol smell but so what it dissapears right after u apply. I drench my cotton in it and apply to my face and neck avoiding eye area ofcourse. One bottle can easily last almost a year and it doesn't go bad as long as its stored in a cool dry place. LUV LUV LUV.
a bit of a strong smell, but love the tingly feel of it. it removes the residue from my face. i have dry-combiniation skin, and love #2 for my skin. i also bought #1 for the winter months when my skin gets dry and chapped, but i do not like formula #1 at all. i use #2 throughout the year now.
I used this for quite some time, I've only got about 1/4 left in the huge bottle and I don't know why I used it for so long. It gave me odd bumps on my forehead that weren't pimples...they were just skin colored bumps. This also gave me tons of tiny pimples on my cheeks. A few weeks ago I decided that this must be the cause of it and switched back to my Tea Tree Oil toner by The Body Shop and all the bumps went away over night. I won't be purchasing this ever again.

I like this toner. It leaves a nice refreshing feeling and doesnt leave my skin dry and tight feeling. I feel it does do a good job of keeping me breakout free. Since I started the 3 step system almost 1 month ago I haven't had any new breakouts and my skin is nice and smooth and soft.
I pretty much give up on Clinique at this point. When I was in high school and I started to get acne, this and Proactiv were the only things that could keep my skin at bay. I decided to try out the new 3 step skincare system (even after the SA blatantly lied about a formula change...moron). After having a horrendously bad mishap with the cleanser that left me badly broken out, I decided to give the toner a shot and I have to say...not bad. It doesn't leave my skin feeling dry after swabbing it on my skin, on the contrary, it feels quite soft afterwards. However, I didn't really notice it clearing up my breakouts, or making them less red...or maybe it is...just very very slowly. It just seems to get the excess crap off of my skin that washing alone doesn't get off. Plus, it smells like straight up rubbing alcohol, even though it isn't as harsh, the stink is just bad and unnerving. I'll probably use this up, as it isn't causing any damage to my skin, and the bottle is huge, but I won't be buying this again. Just not worth it.

Smells like straight up alcohol in the bottle. So super harsh on the skin. I gave it away to my mom who has more of an oily skin.
My mom had a sample of this sitting on the bathroom counter. I decided to give it a go.
It helps so much with my dry patches! I have combo to oily skin, but with the wind, cold and all this stuff, my skin was a little weird! 2-3 days after using this product, my skin was soft, nice and dry patches were no where to be seen!
Yay!

I am writing to review the NEW, reformulated versions of this lotion.
I have been using Clinique on and off for the last 10 years. I always used Clarifying Lotion 2 (although I've had brief affairs with 1 and 3), along with the soap and DDMG. I have also used the Anti-Blemish range to great effect. But after it all got too drying and got fed up of using like 10 products to get reasonable feeling skin, I had sworn off Clinique for life.
With money burning a hole in my pocket and running out of my current stuff (Origins), I stopped off at the Clinique counter to ask them what was different about the new Clarifying Lotions. I was told by a helpful SA that they had added moisturising agents and an anti-oxidant package. I was still unsure, so she offered to try it on my skin. She went through the whole 3 step routine and tried each step on my face. When it got to the Clarifying Lotion, I felt the tingle and waited for my face to feel tight - but it didn't. It was soft and hydrated. She put the DDMG over the top and I walked out the store. Normally, I have to put a second moisturiser on, but went the whole day without it.
Every time I use it, my skin feels soft and smooth. Must say I wish they'd have done this sooner!
They were doing an offer where you buy the Clarifying Lotion and got a 30ml sample of the Liquid Facial Soap and DDMG for free. So I went back the next day and bought it. Waiting for bonus time to buy the soap and DDMG, although I might opt for the bar soap as I think the liquid soap is too drying (due to the SLS and SLES).

Big bottle for the price. I found this was WAY too harsh on the skin for a toner. Toner's are not supposed to sting and strip, just merely remove any excess soap or residue left on the skin.
I don't even think I will finish the bottle before throwing away.

The Clinique Three Step is basically along the lines of Fischer Price My First Skincare. When I was in Middle School and High School this was though to be "high end". I admit, I used it back then, too. This line of skin care is very basic. There are little to no impressive ingrediets listed. I am 32 now, and I recently tried it again on the recommendation of a friend (who works at Clinque). I found it very drying. I am not a big fan of Clinique. The only thing I like are their eye makeup removers.
