I wish I could really love this foundation. I get compliments when I wear it, but it is sooooooooo drying on my face. It gives me a very matte finish which would be awesome if I didn't have dry skin. I have been trying out different moisturizers in attempt to make it less matte, but no such luck. And for me, the lasting power is no more than 4 or 5 hours, with primer. It might be longer if setting powder is used.
I bought this foundation in Istanbul duty free since I couldn't find it in Asia, I love the finish of this foundation but it seems not long lasting as Estee Lauder. I am a loyal fans of Estee Lauder double wear and this is the first Lancome product I use, its easy to blend, (#10-beige porcelaine for my light fair skin with yellow tone), however the shade still looks a little bit red for me...
Overall I am satisfied of this product, this covers my scars and redness very well. I think I will buy it again if the foundation stays longer as EL. Personally I think that control oil still needs to improve.
I always love to try and find a perfect new foundation every time I get bored with my current. I've purchased two bottles of this stuff since last summer, and was curious about finding something else. (not cause I hated it, but because I thought something else could be better!)
Today I went to Sephora in addition to all of the makeup counters at Macy's to try and find the perfect new shade. I only ended up at Lancome on accident; a lady at Estee Lauder was busy, so she asked if the Lancome lady could help me. She tried a shade of EL, and said, "Come over to us, we'll find something better." (though I know she just wanted to make a sale/commission, I gave her the benefit of a doubt).
I pretended like I had never used Lancome stuff just to humor her. She's like "I've got a nice pale shade for you!" She ended up matching me to this stuff, trying to sell it to me. Little did she know I just ran out of my last bottle like two days ago. I was like, "Wow, that's nice!" bought it, and shamed myself for even ATTEMPTING to buy another foundation (most others at all the counters/Sephora that I looked were too orange, anyhow), and figured fate wanted me to continue to stay with this partcicular brand, foundation, and shade. Like seriously, it's practically perfect. While Diorskin Nude (my other standby) sometimes makes my skin feel oily and look slightly tanned, this one just blends in like a dream. I can NEVER find anything that matches.
Okay, okay. I won't stray again. I hope. :P
Okay, this is a FIRST IMPRESSION review:
I've been on the search for a perfect foundation for quite some time now. I have several dark acne scars that cover a fair portion of both my cheeks, and a bit of my forehead as well, and I hate them, so I tend to try to cover them up, so I generally go for medium-full coverage foundations.
I have tried so many products, and none of them so far have been my HG, so I periodically try something new.
I saw that there was a great gift with purchase deal going on a Lancome at the Bonton, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try something else out because I would get a number of other products as well.
So, now onto the real review --
Color: Amazing match! I am African American, and I have VERY yellow undertones which can be hard to match because most foundations made for women of color have much redder tones to them rather than yellow ones. But the one I got (460 Suede W) blends in with my skin perfectly, and it looks like I've got nothing on.
Application/Coverage: Also amazing. A little goes a long way with this stuff! To get great coverage, all you need is 1-2 pumps. It is very buildable, but not at all heavy which is great. It is extremely easy to apply either with your fingers or a brush (I haven't yet tried it with a sponge) because it is very creamy, but not runny or thick.
Feel: Even though this is a fuller coverage product, it feels very light on the skin. Definitely the lightest of all of the full coverage, long wear foundations I've tried. I can't say it feels like you aren't wearing anything, but it doesn't feel thick or sticky or anything like that.
Staying power: I've had it on basically since I woke up, and it's been staying great! Also, I love the way it settles. I think it looks better now than upon application. It hasn't oxidized at all, and it really does give me a very natural, yet flawless look.
Overall: Love it! I will have to see how this works over time, but from my first impressions, it looks like a winner!
UPDATE: I've been using this stuff religiously for a week, and I am calling it my HG foundation. All the positives I listed in my first impression still stand, plus, it has never broken me out in the slightest, and I actually think my kin looks better now than before I was using it. It might be pricey, but it's worth it.
This foundation is an odd one. It was gifted to me so I can't say say I paid the full price for it, but it is pricey! The packaging feels very "high-end". It's comprised of a heavy, frosted-glass bottle with a strong cap and a sturdy pumpl. The pump doesn't seem to push out a lot of foundation so I need about 3 full pumps to cover my face.
I'm a very yellow NC25/27 and can wear 230 W alright, although it's a TOUCH too neutral for me and allllmost too light. I think my best match might be 250 W. This foundation does oxidize as it dries so it doesn't wear true to the color in the bottle - if you're in between colors, I'd give the lighter shade a shot because it probably will oxidize darker!
I applied this foundation with a damp Beauty Blender to give it a more skin-like finish.I only needed about 1-2 thin layers for full coverage, although I still needed concealer for some of my reddest blemishes. Since I have oily skin, I'm initially set this foundation with a powder out of habit, but it looked horribly cakey after a few hours. The second time, I tried NOT setting it wiith anything and found that it had a beautiful, skin-like, demi-matte finish on its own. I would actually recommend wearing this product with NO powder on top and some hydrating spray (like Fix+) on top to help with how drying it can be. I've found that I didn't have to blot at all during the day with this foundation on, so it's great against oils! Not sure I would recommend for anyone who is dry-skinned, I can imagine the alcohol in this product drying them out immediately.
One major con is that I ended up breaking out from this product by the second day. I got a string of minor white heads across my cheeks and my chin, so I would recommend being careful when using this foundation. For those of you who are acne/clog-prone like me, give yourself a few days to try this foundation out before wearing it to a special event!
This is my absolute go to product. I am very fair skinned, so it is hard to find a foundation that works for all four seasons - but this is it! The shade matches perfectly. The foundation goes on smooth and spreads well, it has great coverage and you do not need to use a lot at all - three pumps tops. It can last all day long and give you the flawless look. Absolutely love it. Before finding this foundation I jumped around from foundation to foundations - Mac, Estee Lauder, Clinique - and this is the first one that I've found ALWAYS works. I've been using this product for over a year and a half and am now just starting my 4th bottle. Well worth it!
Worst foundation i've ever used and i've used many. Coverage is very poor, light coverage I would say. It is VERY drying on the skin and accentuates any fine lines or imperfections!
If you are looking for a full coverage foundation, this is definitely one to try. Using this product, all of the acne scars on my cheek vanished. My skin truly looked flawless without the use of any concealer. Sadly, the shade I chose, Ivoire C, was too pink. In addition, this foundation didn't feel comfortable. I was very aware of the product on my face - a tight, uncomfortable feeling that got worse as the day went on. If you can find a shade that works for you and your skin takes to this product better than mine did, you will be pleased if full coverage is your aim.
Love this! It covers great ! I'm a big fan of the tattoo foundation by kat Von d and because she's having trouble harvesting with a specific ingredient she isnt shipping to sephors stores. Then I discover this foundation! I love that it sets itself and the pigment is grade A! I find that for the most flawless application you must spray the face with water ... (I like caudalie grape water spray) and then begin to buff small abounds onto the face! Great for brides and great for breakouts!
Flawless long lasting finish...but it makes me look a little too perfect. It's full coverage and needs to be buffed in well. It can cake up if you try to build it up, but there really isn't a need to. It does oxidize so go a 1/2 shade lighter and everything should be fine. Overall I would repurchase it, now I've learned how to make it work.
