I really expected to like this quad- the colors and finishes look great, but they just won't cooperate with my eyes. I've tried them over different bases- UDPP and Painterly paint pot- multiple times, but they will not work for me. They're hard to blend and go on my eye unevenly. Some shadow will settle into an area and won't move, and I've found that the colors look very muddled and unflattering. It looks like I'm wearing cheap eyeshadow- a problem I don't have with Wet n' Wild, Jane, or ELF, which perform much better for me.

I love everything about this palette except how it works as an eyeshadow. I will say that it didn't seem chalky, but that's about as much as I can say for it. I'm happy it works for so many people because it really does look beautiful, but it just won't perform for me. This is going back to the store.

I like its high light color(matte) and dark brown(matte).

I purchased this quad for work. I wanted something simple for every day. What could be simpler than this product that even tells you which shade goes where? I have some makeup skills so the result is partially how well the shades work together, the texture of the shadows and my ability. I couldn't believe the gorgeous smokey eye I achieved with this quad. My eyes never got so many compliments. The staying power is outstanding. No primer. Applied with the little spongies that came with it. Lasted all day and evening. When I went to remove it, 17 hours after I had applied it, with no touch-ups, it looked exactly the way it did this morning. Shocking. Will definitely repurchase because I foresee using this daily.

not very natural in my opinion. The colors are pretty dramatic and dark, so I would not recommend this to someone who thinks they're going to get a natural/naked eye.

Maybelline shadows are always very hard pressed so they make picking up shadow difficult; but they are easy to blend once you get enough on your lid.

I love the lid color and outer corner color! I reach for this almost everyday. I've almost hit pan and will be buying another. I've never had that happen. I usually never use an eyeshadow long enough to hit pan.

If you're like me, you've been burned by Maybelline's crappy shadows in the past and are very hesitant to try ANYTHING eye related that Maybelline produces. I'll tell you right now, try to put that disappointment out of your head, try to forget it completely, and go out and get one of the Maybelline Stylish Smokes quads. Any one. They are all SO FREAKING AWESOME. You will not regret your purchase and you might find yourself thinking 'Maybelline, why didn't you reformulate your shadows sooner?! Jeez!' If you're like me, that is. :-D


But this quad? Oh this lovely little quad. It's my favorite of the 4. It's perfect in every way. The shadows are soft, pigmented, and easy to work with. They last all day with primer. The top left shade is one of the most gorgeous taupes I've ever encountered. It's my favorite shade in the palette. The bottom right shade is this rich velvety dark chocolate brown that is SO SMOOTH. It's my second favorite. The other 2 are beautiful as well. All together they create a beautiful brown smokey eye that looks very sophisticated and polished.


LOVE IT, can't get enough. Maybelline, please make more shadows in this awesome new formula you've got going!

i love this quad! i've been looking for a good neutral crease color, and the crease color in this quad is really pretty. the shimmer might not work for some people, but i think it's perfect. i also love the color for the outer corner; it's completely matte and very, very pigmented, and it helps to tone down the shimmer in the crease color. the highlight color is alright but not my favorite since it's matte and i do prefer shimmer to brighten up my eyes. i'm surprised that the taupe all-over lid color is actually really popular considering the one in my quad isn't that pigmented at all!
overall, this quad is awesome. it's perfect for neutral day looks but you can also make it a lot more dramatic especially with the dark brown matte outer corner color. the four colors at perfectly matched, but you can also use them individually, as sometimes i just use the crease color to add some definition to my crease for a simple and easy daytime look.

I never ever use drugstore makeup.....my drawers are full of Nars, Chanel, Mercier, Mac. But I saw a sale on Maybelline quads and figured I had nothing to lose spending $5.99. I actually really like this eyeshadow. It has very good texture, when used with primer lasts all day, and the colors are excellent for cool-neutral looks. Most eyeshadows are either chalky matte or way too shimmery. These blend well and are a pleasure to use. Would definitely repurchase.

I usually go for browns, but I also get really bored of them. I really like this eyeshadow set. It has two matte colors (on the bottom) and the top two have shimmer in them.

The colors are perfect for a pretty natural yet defined look (with the right contouring).

It's great that the darkest color is matte (and really dark)- it's prefect for the outer corner. I also use it to set my eyeshadow.

I don't know if I use both of the shimmer shades, it's a little too much for my small Asian eyelids, but it's also versatile in that way, you can have at least two different smokey looks.

This is definitely one of my go-to quads (and I have so many!).

I just bought this today but played around with it quite a bit. The colors are very pretty in the pan and do stay true to color. However, on my monolid Asian eyes, they can get very muddy if I try to use all 4 colors. But the colors are pigmented and unique for drugstore, they're mathced beautifully and the bottom two shades are practically matte(though less vibrant). I clicked I would repurchase, but I'm not sure. I just like this product but it's not a holy grail or anything. I'd just keep it for the days I don't want to think about my makeup.
