I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation, but the loves outweigh the hate. I love that it stays on for hours. I love that it doesn't transfer to my clothes or my husband's face. I love that they have two different formulas for dry skin and oily skin. I love the price. I hate that the bottle doesn't have a pump. I hate that in the dark range of colors they jump from 400 caramel to 410 Cappucino and the shad change is actually about two shades...of which I'm smack in the middle. I hate that I have to buy two bottles and mix them to make my shade. I dislike the thickness, but by spritzing a little water on my brush and stippling the foundation on my face I get a beautiful flawless finish and it makes the other hassles totally worth it.

So this was a complete accident purchase! I have very very dry skin and accidentally picked up the oily/combo formula and I have an issue with returning makeup products because they can't be re-uaed, so by a sheer miracle I have found a way to make this product work fantastically for my DRY skin!

REVIEW: Smells like the alcoholic drink Baileys, which I think would bother quite a few people, but I'm not too bothered about it since i love that drink!
Although the glass bottle does make the product look more expensive, it is a sugar to travel with! Whether of not this would bother you depends on your lifestyle or how much you travel.
The foundation itself is very very thick, gloopy, sort of gel like, which I thought was odd since that sort of consistency is normally preferable for products aimed at more dry skin types, so that was a nice surprise! If you have dry skin like me, use the most minimal smallest amount of this product. Flat top or kabuki brushes are a big "no no" when I use gel formulas since they produce micro-exfoliation (flaking or caking!) and when using my fingers I find I apply way to much product than I need. I wouldn't say this is build able coverage, but a very solid medium amount which you can't make thicker, however you can thin it down slightly when you use the smallest amount on a traditional foundation brush (my favourite is the real techniques one!) as I find this gives a glowing, dewy finish and not one bit cakey!!

SUMMARY: HAS a strong smell
Not in love with the packaging
Although promoted for oily/combo skin, I find this works well on my very dry skin when prepped and moisturised properly and when applied with a traditional foundation brush
Shade selection is fantastic for fair-med/dark
If this was under £10 I would definitely buy again BUT because it was around £13 (yes, I'm frugal!) I wouldn't purely because the lack of pump wastes so so sooo much product every time.
Generally, I think it's my favourite drugstore foundation though.

A little expensive BUT it lasts you a long time! Also wait until they have BOGO free or 50% off! I have been using this and I love it. It matches my skin tone perfectly. This doesn't break me out! Give it a try!

So awesome! Really stays all day. I use mahogany and caramel. And does not break me out.

I buy the ColorStay Makeup For Combo/Oily Skin which gives me a matte finish all that last all day. Zero transfer! I have a lot of hyperpigmentation from acne and it provides pretty great coverage.

Yes, there is the weird glue smell; yes, it can look cakey if you don't apply it correctly... BUT, when done right, this is the most wonderful drugstore foundation. I have very oily, very acne-prone and acne-ridden skin. This foundation is absolutely fantastic for my face. It does not break me out, it stays put all day long but doesn't sink into the lines of my face. I am very pale, but the lightest color Ivory is not the best match for me. It's too pink, and turns my face orange. Buff, on the other hand, blends in with my skin tone perfectly and provides wonderful coverage. All my pitted acne scars on my cheeks are smoothed over, my complexion is brightened and I only need a tiny bit of setting powder to have a smooth, clear face. LOVE this product, will continue to buy, for sure.

Oh yes, one more thing - I've used a MILLION different eyeshadow primers. I own everything from Urban Decay to ELF, BE, Mac, etc. etc. etc. Nothing sets my eyes better for eyeshadow that this foundation. Not even anything remotely close to a crease all day long, and I have some seriously oily lids. Love it.

I've heard so many rave reviews on this foundation so I had to try it. I don't really need to use foundation but I like to, to make my skin tone even. I had read before hand that color stay tends to dry quickly so I used it sparingly on my face with my stippling brush. However, I have to say that I absolutely HATED this foundation. It looked caked on my face and you could tell that I had makeup on. I felt like my skin was suffocating underneath this. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone like me that doesn't really need foundation however, if you have troubled skin, I would recommend it.

Having combination/oily skin, I have been afraid of liquid foundations for as long as I can remember. I always thought they would feel heavy, oxidize, and eventually just make me look like a hot oily mess. For a while I was using the Smashbox BB cream which I really did like but I didn't like the price tag. Then I switched to the Bare Minerals Matte foundation and I liked that too but I would get a lot of residue coming off and it didn't quite give me the desired coverage. I heard great reviews about this and decided to give it a try! My store had no testers so I was really lucky that I ended up buying the perfect shade. Let me just say, I am so impressed! This foundation goes on nicely (I I use a stippling brush/kabuki brush) and once dry, leaves a really nice matte and even look. I'd say it has medium coverage which is just enough for me as I don't have a lot of blemishes. With the BM, I used to get an oily sheen even noon, but with this, I find that I don't ever really have to touch up because it does such a good job of keeping me matte all day. I don't get a lot of residue coming off which means it definitely has amazing staying powder. It is a little on the pricier side for a drugstore foundation, but it sure beats the $35+ dollars I was paying before. Plus, a little goes a long way so a bottle will last me a few months at least. My only complaint is the packaging; I hate that you have to pour it out and wish it had a pump instead but I can deal because it makes up for it in quality. I think I have found a new HG foundation and in the drugstore at that! So thoroughly impressed.
