After trying the "tube" mascara from Clinique, I looked around for a cheaper version and found this one. I like that it doesn't flake during the day and makes my lashes extremely long, and it's really easy to take off at night.
I don't like the fat mascara container (I'm getting used to it, but I'm used to something slimmer), and I don't like having to put on the primer application. The mascara itself clumps up pretty fast with air contact, so you've got to work fast!
I would probably buy this again, but I'm on the hunt for another similar product. Love the tube mascara idea (no more irritating flakes!), but I would like to try another brand.
I have never found any primer/mascara double ended product that I liked, they always smudge, flake and leave me with raccoon eyes. I only agreed to try this one after asking a friend of mine what mascara she used because she had such nice long lashes. It is completely different, it does not budge the entire day, even through me working a shift in an un-airconditioned medical office sweating through my mask. I am pretty lazy with removing my mascara and can't be bothered to get a separate eye makeup remover to take off a stubborn mascara. I don't have to worry about it with this product I just wet my fingertips and gently remove the odd little "tubes" of product.
It really gives me great length and separation but does not do much to give thickness. I took off one lippie because my lashes don't seem to be able to hold a curl with this product. Would repurchase.
I have a terrible time avoiding the dreaded "panda" eye. This is the only mascara I can wear without having to fix my eye makeup every half hour. Love it! I put the primer on and then immediately put on the mascara. I don't wait for it to dry and it never feels crunchy or flaky. Even after 12 hours this mascara doesn't flake or move. I'm allergic to makeup removers and this comes off so easily that you would be silly to not try it. I buy this at Target and it is always $8, which is dirt cheap in Brooklyn. For the money and convenience, it can't be beat!
My lashes - Stick straight, so I always use a lash crimper. My eyes water and my lids get oily by the end of the day. My lashes are black, so as long as the mascara comes in black, I'm satisfied.
Waterproof/Oilproof? - Yes/yes.
Adds volume? - No.
Adds length? - Yes.
Adds definition? - Yes.
Holds curl? - Moderately well, if using the mascara end alone. Using the primer first tends to undo some crimping work.
Removal? - Easy. Tubes slide off cleanly under warm water.
Packaging - Double-ended tube, with each end being chubby and rounded. One end is white (primer) and the other is red (tubing mascara). The middle section houses the mascara wands for each end respectively. The mascara wands are the chubby spiny bristle type, good for definition and separation.
Other comments - Works just fine without using the primer. Instructions say you don't need to wait for the primer coat to dry before applying the mascara coat, which I greatly appreciate. The primer goes on white and doesn't really do anything for my lashes volume-wise, but it does add length. The mascara really does make tubes, very similar to Blinc Kiss Me. When dry, my lashes still feel soft and natural. I got this in Black, and it looks black on my black lashes; when I remove it, it looks more like charcoal grey than black. (Blackest Black was not available the day I purchased this, otherwise I would have gotten that instead.)
Comparisons - Comparable to Blinc Kiss Me: the texture of the tubes when the wash off is very similar, like eyelash-long pieces of silly string (Too Faced Lash Injection came off quite flaky for me). Retails for about $9, a good value compared to the higher end tubing mascaras, especially if you need a primer.
Overall - I could live without the primer and might prefer not to have it built in, since it mostly lengthens and that's not what I need mascara for. But the tubing mascara works perfectly. Glad to have found this in a pinch (on travel and forgot my HG Philosophy The Supernatural mascara). Pleasantly surprised, would purchase again. continued >>
Having tried the normal Double Extend waterproof, I was excited to try this, espescially since I liked the "tubes" aspect of Blink's Kiss Me mascara. If you're looking for a cheaper tubing mascara, this does the job. If you're looking for the same effect as Kiss Me, this isn't it. Kiss Me is very wet and more dramatic, while Double Extend is more natural.
I love the primer of this stuff - all it takes is one layer for thicker lashes. Doesn't really seem to lengthen, but the mascara does that. The primer and mascara together give an effect that's not too natural, yet not too dramatic. The thing I don't really like is that it can only be layered a few times before it clumps a lot. This is important for Asians like me, but people who already have nice lashes will probably get a dramatic effect without many layers.
Lasting power is amazing - it never budged, ever, though I never really have a problem with smudging mascara. Removal is a bit annoying because I need to rub a bit to remove all the tubes, rather than just doing a swipe with makeup remover. It sure beats getting black smudges everywhere though.
I think this is almost exactly the same as the DE waterproof, but for some reason, it's slightly less dramatic. Also, since this isn't a true waterproof formula, it also doesn't hold a curl as well. For these reasons, I wouldn't repurchase but this is a great mascara and I would love it if only my lashes could hold a curl better.
WORLD, I have just found my HG mascara! I purchased this for 50% off at $7.49.
1. Does not smudge AT ALL throughout the day, and I think it`s because the formula isn't like that of typical mascaras. I mean after all, it forms 'tubes' around your lashes and REALLY stays put. No raccoon eyes or anything. Nada. Perfect for summer or any season!
2. Rinses off quite easily with warm water. All I did was run my fingertip under warm water and hold it against my lashes, as a little test run. And voila, the tiny tubes come right off!
3. Colour payoff is a nice black, and doesn't give too much volume, which is perfect for me because I prefer a natural look when it comes to my lashes.
Love Love LOVE this stuff.
This is the best mascara that ive used in years. Ive always hated the whole inky thing about mascara so when i found out that this comes off easily with hot water and no smudging i was super excited! This made my lashes long, not so much volumized, but ill sacrifice those things as long as i dont have to deal with raccoon eyes when removing my makeup. the price is pretty decent compared to all the high end mascaras. this is totally worth it! I highly recommend this product!
This is a good mascara, especially for the price. The whole tubing concept should definitely get more recognition since it leaves your lashes and eye area 100% smudge and flake free. I switched over from a high end (Trish McEvoy) tubing mascara to this one because I wanted to save money and TM packaging always made an icky mess. This mascara is an adequate substitute. What I can say wrong about it is that sometimes it can make my lashes crunchy and the packaging is humongous; no need for it to be that bulky, but overall it performs pretty well by making my lashes look fuller and longer. If anything, just try this mascara because it's ridiculously easy to remove. All you need is warm water and the product comes off in sheaths. I'm a high end snob when it comes to beauty products but I am excited I finally gave a drugstore mascara a try.
PRO: makes lashes look long and thick, especially when using the primer. Great price and often on sale!
CON: I thought this would be a good substitute for Blinc Kiss Me mascara, but it is not quite the same since it doesn't "tube" as well. I wear contacts and this did not irritate my eyes, however I found it extremely difficult to remove at night.
I'm sorry I just do not like this product. I think it is overly priced and does not give any results. My lashes are not much longer and i didn't get much volume.
