This stuff is actually amazing! I apply it on top of my cheekbones. Imagine a line going from the bottom of your nose to the top of your ear - I put s&g on/above that line. I also apply it on my temples - going from the point of my cheekbone that is closest to my hairline, up beside my eyebrow. It gives such a gorgeous and healthy glow if you apply after bronzer and/or blusher. It doesn't make my skin appear oily either, which is a major plus.
The only downside is the amount of glitter in it (and for that reason alone I have taken off a star). It kinda makes me mad that mac insist on putting glitter in a lot of their products, however once applied to the brush (187) I tap it on the end of the packaging so that most of the glitter chunks fall off.
I have used this product for about 4 months now and have barely scratched the surface which is fab. I thought that the price was pretty reasonable considering that it is mac, and their powders last forever!
I never ever get complimented on my skin but my friends and actually someone in a petrol station asked me what I am using to give me such a pretty 'glow'. Apart from the fact that I love it, that reason alone will make me repurchase if and when I ever get to the bottom of it!
Awful product - I can excuse the reaction it caused me (massive eczema, but thats my skin not the products fault) but this is so shimmery it highlights all of your pores (and I have very small ones) it is massively ageing, the sparkles look plain trashy and it looks greasy in photos.

i am a NW25 in summer and NW20 in winter and an N6 in studio fix powder. this product is amazing. what it does is give my skin a very slight sheen, like it makes it look a little 'dewey' instead of matte and stuck. it is beautiful for summer and just a touch of sheen. not overly glowy or brown or pink...just a sheer flesh toned sheen that kind of just washes over everything and gives a beautiful sheer finish that brightens up every look....i like wearing this with just mascara and red lips for summer. just a wonderful product! i hope this helps! i have few HG's and this is one.

This is one of my FAVE makeup products to use :D i love having a matte complexion so having a bit of shine and illiminates my face :D it looks great on the cheek bones under the brows along the nose and on the lips for a fuller look.
i would def recommend this to anyone
I love this and it is currently my highlighter for summer. I was lucky enough to get it in a swap recently and at first I was a little concerned that I wouldnt like it or that it would look too similar to my Refined MSF as a highlighter. I apply it with my ELF Complexion Brush. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look this gives my skin. It's totally different (I think) than the look my Refined MSF gives. The Refined MSF is more pinky-toned, and the Soft & Gentle is more golden toned. This is amazing highlight for my skin for summer, makes me look radiant, glowing and stunning! I just love it!!
I have NC45 skin and was looking for a nice highlighter that made my skin glow and was suitable for day time use. Initially, I purchased Belightful but it had a ridiculous amount of glitter in it and so I ended up exchanging it for Soft & Gentle.
This has a pink/gold shade. Whilst it definitely has way less glitter than Belightful, Soft & Gentle is still not that soft sheen/glow that I was originally looking for. If I apply this with a light hand on my cheekbones, I can get away with it - but if anyone comes up close, they can still pick out the individual dots of glitter on my skin. What surprises me though is just how many different skin types can use Soft & Gentle - its one of the few things that my sister and I can share. But because of the glitter, it also makes enlarged pores really obvious, so avoid areas with troubled skin.
Overall, it takes practice to apply. When you get it right, it can brighten up your face. And since you don't need a lot of product, its going to last a really long time. Would I re-purchase? Probably not - I'd want to give Benefit's High/Moon Beam a try before I'd consider getting Soft & Gentle again.

This was my first MSF. It is rather glittery so a light hand is essential unless you want to look like you're auditioning for Saturday Night Fever. It doesn't really deposit much colour on me, just leaves a bit of shimmery glow. Of course the glitters can accentuate pores aswell so be careful of that. I just use it along the tops of my cheekbones and a dab on my chin. I prefer using this for night time looks as I think it's a bit too much for day time wear. I'm giving it 3 lippies as it's not a very special highlight (like the MAC by candlelight one, which is gorgeous) and can be duped pretty easily.
Amazing candle lit glow, super natural and not too overpowering, the perfect amount of sunkist =) since my skin is a bit on the dry side i rub a bit of Hush(cream colour base, or you can use any neutral creamy color) underneath the soft and gentle, and i find it to be way more long lasting and vivid rather than just wearing it by itself. anyways the price is bit steep but for the amount you get, this product will last for years! so totally worth it. i only wish they would come in pan sizes like the eyeshadows or blushes mac have so i could put it in my unii palette and it wont take soo much space, or maybe a more compressed packaging for traveling or just carrying in your purse! will definitely buy again and recommend to friends and family.
