This is the worst mascara I've ever used. It barely shows on my lashes. I have to brush on about 20 coats to get anything out of it. This is good for a 13 year old just starting to wear makeup as it's very light. I'll never buy again and won't recommend. It's on sale sometimes for $1.99 and it's barely worth that!
If your going for dramatic, this isnt for you. This stuff is great for day to day use. It makes my lashes look great. It adds nice length and zero clumps. I have been wearing it all week and havnet had a flaking or smudging episode yet. I dont work, but I have two little ones who have their hands all over my face numerous times throught the day and the mascara stays put.
I absolutely, positvely cannot stand this mascara. My m-i-l convinced me to try it, as it is her fave, but after several attempts, the results were always the same: flakes, smudges and smears only half-way through my work day! And I work in an air conditioned office!
Will never try again. Not worth the $1.99.
My mother bought it and in need of a water-proof mascara because of my contacts I grabbed it from her. It is a pretty good mascara for just regular days and it personally makes my eyelashes look nice. The consistency is good and provides no clumps. And it does wash-off pretty easily when your washing your face or you can just use an eye makeup remover as well. I honestly like it.
I was pleasantly surprised with this product. I absolutely love the brush! The bristles are long which helps the mascara go on virtually clump-free; it's pretty great. This mascara is best for more natural days, as it does not add much volume. It does, however, subtly define the lashes as well as slightly lengthens if you use more than 1 coat. This is great for everyday use, when you want to look natural & pretty, not too done-up. It lasts all day, doesn't smudge, yet still washes off with soap & water. I usually like a more volumizing mascara, but I'll use this for "off" days.
My lashes - Stick straight, so I always use a lash curler. My eyes water and my lids get oily by the end of the day. My lashes are black, so as long as the mascara comes in black, I'm satisfied.
Waterproof/Oilproof? - Yes/yes. Lasts through watery eyes and unladylike sweating during workouts. Yay! The oils on my face eat through most mascaras, but not this one.
Adds volume? - No.
Adds length? - Slightly.
Adds definition? - Yes.
Holds curl? - Well.
Removal? - Easy with soap and water. Also easy with eye mu remover (I use Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup Remover).
Packaging - Black tube, wider in the middle and tapered towards the extremities. Brush is a neat, clean spiral.
Other comments - Formula goes on light and clean; not clumpy or thick. After a day with watery eyes and a sweaty workout, I could barely get this to smudge - it took some seriously rough eye-rubbing to get it to smudge, and the raccoon eyes I got were so slight, even less noticeable than most other WP mascaras I have worn for less than a day and without rubbing or watering. Formula has a slight chemical smell to it when wet but it doesn't bother me much.
UPDATE: I got a tube of something else and ignored this Avon mascara for a few months. When I went back to it, the aged mascara went on very wet such that my wet lashes stuck together; at least there were no clumps. Overall, the aged formula adds more volume and length than before, but definitely requires using a lash comb.
Overall - What a great find! This is just what I want for everyday - great for definition and holding curl, truly waterproof and unaffected by the oils on my face. Excellent performer for my daily workday needs, at a nice low price ($5.99). continued >>
I got this for 1.99! I got the Navy and Black/Brown and they were both great colors. Such a good deal and I love the mascara it doesn't budge at all and I've gotten compliments on nice it looks on me! Although I would say this only a basic mascara.
Gives a natural look and doesn't require any lash combing. Nice for a quick and easy makeup application. I use mineral oil to remove my eye mu -- and it won't remove this stuff. Neither does plain water. I know it is supposed to remove with soap and water, but I am hesitant to use soap on my eyes...so not a great mascara for me.
I've been using this for about a week now and am generally pleased. First, this is not the ms to give you that dramatic look. Its consistency is similar to Great Lash - a little thin and runny, but relatively clump free. With one coat (followed by a lash comb) your lashes look a tad bit thicker and a tad bit longer. With two coats, it starts to get interesting. Again, the look isn't super dramatic but my Asian lashes start looking more like a pretty fringe with two coats. Gently curl once more after two coats and I'm good to go. Second, this is a pretty good waterproof formula so far. I haven't gone swimming in it yet or anything, but it stays put really well - no smudges or flaking off. Lastly, it really does wash off with soap and water. Normally I use eye MU remover, but I tried just washing everything off with soap and water and was shocked to see that it really does just wash away. I will definitely repurchase this for my everyday/pretty look. For something more dramatic, I might have to look for something else.
I've used this for years, and while I've tried other mascaras, I always come back around to this one. It might not make my lashes look as full as other mascaras would, but it definitely separates and lengthens them very nicely. Best of all, it doesn't budge if I get caught out in the rain, yet I don't have to use any icky oily eye make-up remover to get rid of it as it just rinses away with soap and water.
