Wow, I did not expect to love this mascara as much as I do. I can't really comment on the price because it came as a free sample with a tarte eyelash curler I purchased in Sephora. But the regular price for this mascara is $25 so it's kind of pricy but not too bad for a higher end product. And honestly it is worth the extra money since tarte tries to stay as natural as they can and do not test on animals, what more could you want in makeup?! The packaging is super cute and easy to store in your purse and makeup kit, it doesn't take up too much space which I like. I like the brush because it is stiff and has small bristles so it's easier to get right between the lashes. I love this mascara because it gives me length and it looks SO natural, I love that it looks like I'm not even wearing mascara. But then again I already have really long eyelashes. It holds a curl very well and it doesn't flake or smudge. I will definitely be buying the full sized version of this, I love it and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
This would of been a nice duo primer & mascara it really glids on really really nice it really makes your lashes really long and thick and curls nice @ first but, after 30 mins there goes to curl then the coloring fades away. it is nice to know that helps your lashes and they test on animals and it is all healthy but, IT DON'T WORK. I am returning it to Ulta tomorrow. I rather wear no mascara then this
I read some good reviews on this mascara and was really excited to try it out. It is safe to say that I love it! After the first application there was a noticeable difference and after two it was even more significant. It lengthened and separated more so than volumized but my eyelashes have never looked this good with a mascara before. The formula was pretty wet but I like mascaras like that. The only complaint is the packaging which I find ugly but I dont care much about what it looks like as long as the product does a good job which it does.
I have tried a TON of natural mascaras, and while this one certainly is NOT the most "natural", it performs extremely well. The truly natural mascaras just can't provide the volume/length I was looking for. :( Considering the ingredients aren't horrible, I am pleased to have found this mascara!! It performs EXTREMELY well and gives me incredible volume!! I apply several coats of this for a dramatic effect. I love that it comes off easily with jojoba oil and doesn't pull at my lashes when removing.
I have never had a problem with mascara running on me, but since this stuff is so thick it could be an issue with people prone to such a problem. If that's the case, I recommend going with Tarte's waterproof version.
The case/packaging is super pretty with the purple material, very unique looking!! This is truly an excellent mascara and well worth the price-- in my opinion, it performs up there with the expensive more high-end brands. :)
When using this mascara, my lashes felt brittle and dry, not to mention my eyes feeling itchy. After a few hours, I noticed smudging under my eyes, which I expected since it does not hold lash curl. The formula itself is wet and even globby. I noticed more lashes on my cotton pad when removing this product with an oil-based eye makeup remover than usual, and that's when I stopped using it. Tarte market themselves as a natural brand, which I respect and agree, but there is nothing "natural" about the packing of this product in my opinion. Purple faux snake skin doesn't quite correlate with "natural", don't you think?
I like this mascara because it does seem to lengthen and seperate my lashes really well, only bad thing is the formula is pretty dry so it clumps a bit here and there.
Wearing Maybelline Falsies mascara over this makes an amazing false lash effect also.
I love this product! I have almost non existant lashes, so this product is a life saver! a little expensive but completely worth it.
For reference, I have medium length, very thick lashes that are straight.
*Very very black, and is a very rich black mascara, it seems to be red based, rather than blue-grey based, the latter of which is not very "black" in my opinion and looks cheap, unlike red-based mascaras, which I believe this mascara is -
*Doesn't smudge or smear or melt-
*Gives an almost "fake lashes" effect. Essentially, it's not a "my lashes but better" product, it's a "her lashes are too great to be real so they must be fake" kind of product.
*Makes lashes flexible and not crispy/crunchy/hard.
*Flakes. But, that's much more preferable than smudging, smearing or melting.
*CANNOT hold a curl if it's life depended on it. This is a problem for me, given I have straight lashes, and not only that, I have "sad eyes" so-called, but it's mostly due to my lashes (which are very thick and straight, and go from medium to very long in length towards the outer eye) than my eye shape. However, I heard that this consequence of not holding a curl is typical with mascara's that aren't waterproof, so I will be repurchasing this mascara but in the water-proof formula. Wish I had known this tip before purchasing the full-size after having fallen in love with the sample.
*Seems to dry out quickly. Probably because it's a water-based formula. Adding a drop or two of water makes it as good as new. But again, I will be purchasing water-proof formula next time due to this and the previous con.
*Attempts to curl **again** *after* applying product will cause mascara to look clumpy and lashes will stick together and be spidery. Don't try it.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with a natural curl or upward bend to their lashes. I haven't yet tried the waterproof formula but I have it already in my Sephora basket waiting for me for the friends and family sale, but if anyone reading this review has lashes similar to mine I would recommend trying the waterproof formula first or getting your hands on a sample of this version. Because this water-based formula will not solve your problems.
p.s. I also use the Tarte eyelash curler, which was how I was first introduced to this mascara as the curler included a sample, and I do highly recommend the eyelash curler, best eyelash curler I've ever used. I just don't recommend it with this mascara because it will undo any and all artificial curl, even from Tarte's eyelash curler which curls stick straight lashes like none other.
Love Tarte LCL mascara. I have long blonde eyelashes with blue eyes. My lashes are thin/ fine, like my hair, but I have lots of them. This Tarte mascara is perfect for me.
Some mascaras look cakey and thick on me, even if I comb through them. Too much volumizing just makes my eyes look overly made up. This Tarte mascara is perfect, bc it lengthens, separates & makes lashes black. But it does not give that cakey look.
I have pretty sensitive eyes. LashBlast makes my eyes water when I first apply it. Most mascaras bother me if they flake in my eyes. But Tarte LCL never burns. It's easy to remove and doesn't make my lashes fall out.
I do feel like this dries out really quickly. I assume that's bc it lacks preservatives and other chemicals that would keep it thin/ creamy. Once it dries out, it does flake & smudge a bit. But the price isn't TOO high, so I'm willing to buy it every month or 2.
In my experience, this is the best mascara I've found for sensitive eyes. & it looks gorgeous! If you have sensitive eyes, I highly recommend it.
Pretty decent mascara. Does everything I want it to. BUT I'm still on the search for a really good volumizing mascara. I have long eye lashes so I want to thicken them to look almost fake. I haven't found a mascara that's Wowed me yet.
