It's such an amazing product! just as other reviewers said, it cleans the hair styling products residues left over on your hair. it might be a little pricy but you dont need a lot of this everytime when you use it. it will leave your hair so clean and fresh, and after that i use my normal shampoo and conditioner then i found that my hair will be conditioned more easily. my hair turned out so healthy and smooth.
for those who putting hair styling products everyday i recommend using this shampoo once every week. but if you rarely styled your hair like me, you dont want to use this shampoo more that twice per three weeks.
it's a anti-residue shampoo, overusing will harm your hair which against your original purpose.
I have bought this for years.
I find it works best for me before I color and deep condition cause it removes any gunk from styling/treatments.
it is cheap for the quality and smells lovely.
This is a great product to use once a week to remove any residue from your regular cleansing or styling products. Do NOT use it every day because the cleansing agents (including ammonium lauryl sulfate) are quite harsh and will dry out your hair and could even make your scalp produce more oil to compensate.
If you have dry, over-processed hair like me, here's how to use this to lessen the "stripping" effect: Make sure your hair is soaking wet before applying. Put a dime-to-quarter sized blob of this (depending on length of your hair) on your hand, and rub it between your hands with a few drops of water, creating a thick lather. Apply the resulting lather throughout your hair and rub it in the way you would with any shampoo, then rinse immediately with lots of warm water.
I have mixed feelings about this shampoo. I absolutely hate the smell of this. Its not bad in the shower, but got it sticks with you all day. It really really makes your hair light & clean. Super clean. The smell lingers for a few days, even if you use a different one. Its really harsh, so only use it 1-3 times a week. Its a gel, and lathers very easily. The bottle, I find is a very useless shape. To long, but to skinny. Anyways, this product is worth trying, everyone is different. I think I'll finish the bottle, and purchase a new one, just for special occasions.
This is a great clarifying shampoo to use before color treatments, after the beach/pool, and in general once or twice a week to get rid of buildup to prevent your hair from looking dull. My hair always feel lighter after using this. Definitely a must-have item in my bathroom.
my hair gets oily at the roots pretty fast, and this shampoo does a good job of getting rid of the oils that build up on my hair. i don't really mind the smell, and the shampoo lathers very well. it causes hair color to fade a lot faster, though. i gave this a 3 rating because i find that baby shampoo does the same thing, is quite a bit cheaper, and smells a bit better.
I have been using this once a week on my hair for over a year now so obviously its working for me. It strips all the residue out of my hair and leaves it feeling clean and light. However, I do agree with the reviewer below me about the smell. It is pretty bad, but sometimes you need to sacrifce scent for beauty. I just condition my hair with Pantene colour revival conditionner after using it and the smell goes away. Also, they need to make the packaging a little better for this product. I have such a tough time getting it out of the bottle that I have to hold it over my head with both hands and squeeze as hard as possible to get enough out. But seriously, do you think I would go through this much trouble if the product wasn't as good as they say it is? Trust me, go buy some.
I really disliked this shampoo for a number of reasons. First, it's pretty thick which I didn't like and didn't lather evenly in my hair. Second, THE SMELL, OH GOD, THE SMELL. It smells like a janitor's closet in a hospital. It REEKS. The odor alone is enough to exorcise demons out of bodies. I can't stand harsh smells, especially in the shower, cause that's one place I don't want to faint. I don't need to be found naked in my shower, unconscious because this nefarious stench attacked my senses. I even used a second shampoo to try and get the smell out and it didn't work.
As for the effectiveness of the shampoo itself, it's ok. It got all the residue out of my hair but it left it light and frizzy, even after moussing and diffusing. I just didn't like this. I feel there are cheaper and LESS SMELLY cleansing shampoos out there and this ain't one of em. Unforgivable.
For me, this product seems to work. For the longesttt time, I had MAJOR hair issues, especially with my scalp. It always felt heavy and dirty and it would just give me a headache. I always came across this item here on MUA, and was considering in buying it, for my head seriously wasn't taking anymore of the other shampoos I feed it with. Finally, I bought it at my local rite aid for about 7 dollars. Quite pricey for a drugstore shampoo.
As for the product itself, it has this scent that smells like baby powder, just a bit more stronger. Its not the best smell, but I dont mind it either. What I love most though is that it actually does its job in removing all the gross build up from your hair you may get from everyday products you put in your hair. It may not feel like it first, but within a day or two you 'll instantly notice how much better your scalp feels, no icky residue lingering in your precious hair.
With this shampoo, I am able to finally accomplish the wash-your-hair-every-other-day ritual, because my scalp feels clean enough to go for a day without washing, and I knoww its because of this. You only need to use this once a week, so keep that in mind. Therefore, it should last you a good amount of time.
With nearly every good product, there always is a con. The con for this is that it doesn't lather very well. I feel like the shampoo itself is refusing to distribute through out the rest of my hair, so it can get a bit frustrating. Just follow up with a good conditioner and you'll be fine :)
So overall, 4 lippies. Would I repurchase? The pros weigh out the cons, so most definitely! I found my solution to a clean scalp, and I hope you do too!
The first time I used this shampoo it felt good and my scalp felt clean and not itchy.
However, the second time I used it I had to wash my hair more than once (and I don't use conditioner or styling products) and my hair felt a bit dry and limp. Still clean but when I straightened my bangs they fell limp pretty quickly and my hair the next day (I wash my hair every other day) felt dry and itchy and it was oily when I brushed it.
The next time it was more of the same and I could feel my scalp was incredibly dry with flakes.
I decided to see what it would be like if I washed my hands with it (a good idea to see if your shampoo or body wash or facial cleanser will be gentle is to wash your hands with it and see if your skin dries out or stays clean but soft). My hands were dry and there were dry patches visible (of course my hands get dry in the Calgary weather but some soaps have actually not dried my hands out so if a shampoo does that's not a good sign).
As the Neutrogena shampoo did dry my hands out I have decided to stop using it. Or at the very least I will only use it once a week (but I'm not sure I want to use something so drying even once but I should use it as I paid money for it. I'll find some useful way to use up the rest :))
So I didn't care for it (especially as it's quite pricey) but my scalp is super sensitive to most shampoos (commercial and natural).
