First off, I need to make it clear that I am a big fan of many Kiehl's products. But I am so very disappointed in this one. Oh.... how I really regret forking over the $25.00 for this product without sampling it first. This just does not feel right around my eyes. Allthough the consistancy is thick,creamy-greasy, there is something very drying and itchy about it. It may be due to the long list of ingrediants.
* My Eyes – The skin around my eyes is normal. The area just below my eyebrows can get dry at times, especially after tweezing and/or during the winter.
* Review - This eye cream is unscented and very emollient. It does a good job at moisturizing the small dry spots near my eyebrows though I noticed that on my under eye area, it does not absorb very easily and has a tendency to look oily. Perhaps this would be well suited for drier skin types. For me, I prefer to use this at night as it is a little bit too emollient for me to use during the day, with or without makeup.
* Note – I will avoid buying beauty creams that come in a jar packaging because I noticed that after a couple of months, the cream started to appear rather abnormal. I think that unwanted bacteria invaded the contents of the cream in the jar. The risk of bacterial contamination with jar packaging is just too high and frankly, not worth it. Lesson learned: I'll stick with the opaque tube (read: safe and hygienic) packaging from now on.
* Cons – No sunscreen, unhygienic jar packaging.
* Price - €25 for a 14 ml pot.
* Verdict – I will not repurchase.
I don't believe in 'eye creams' and have always used whatever I had lying around including Aquaphor, argan oil, Nivea, mineral oil, etc. I got a generous sample of this and love it. It's hydrating yet has very little 'slip' so it works beautifully under makeup. When I use it at night, it helps reduce under eye puffiness slightly (note *slightly*, it's not a miracle cure). Even though it's pricey, a little goes a loooong way with this stuff. Will be purchasing a full size and will continue to alternate it with argan oil.
First of all, it does NOT sting my eyes. It does NOT break out the eye area. It soothes and moisturizes. Not too thick, not too liquidy. Just the right texture to apply under and all around the eyes. Will definitely repurchase it again!
I bought this bottle of eye cream from StrawberryNet online. I wasn't looking for any particular eye cream, was just mindlessly shopping. I have been using it for 3 days now and I really like what the cream does for my eye!
First of all, it has a considerably thick texture and definitely not runny. Just a tiny amount on the tip of my finger is sufficient for both eyes. It doesn't come with a strong smell either.
It really moisturises the skin around my eyes well. The skin is very soft to touch after using the cream. Hence, I would definitely recommend this as a moisturiser for your eyes.
The downside is that it doesn;t quite sink in after application. It leaves a waxy look, I only use this eye cream at night before I go to bed (I would use a different eye cream during day because it wouldn't mess up my makeup). So if the waxy look bothers you, don't buy this. This cream doesn't contain SPF as well if I'm not wrong so it wouldn't make sense to use it during the day too. Still it is not too much of an issue to me because the product delivers.
Another thing is that it doesn't help so much on reducing dark under eye circles but it does state on the bottle that the main function is to 'moisturise' not reduce dark circles.
Despite buying from StrawberryNet, I still paid around AUD$30+. I think this bottle will last me at least 6 months. Overall, very good value and this would be one of the products I would repurchase.
P/S: I keep my eye cream jar in the fridge and the coolness helps with relaxing the eye area.
I've bought this eye cream a couple times, so I must like it. It's a pretty good basic all-around eye moisturizer. It doesn't make anti-aging claims, or wrinkle prevention, it just moisturizes. It does a pretty good job with that - absorbs well, keeps skin soft, doesn't leave my skin greasy, no smell. While I was in my 20s it was fine, but now that I've hit 30 I'm on the hunt to step things up to the next level.
the eye cream is ok.....not the best not the worst. it's too oily for me and my under eye dont absorb the product it just sits there. so i only use it at night.
I dislike all Kiehls facial products besides this one. They all seem to be ineffective to my skin for some reason or another. This eye cream I would have to say is pretty good especially for $30. I put it on my lower and upper eyelids and it moisturizes and makes them supple. I don't know how some people thought it stung their eyes because right on the bottle it says "does not migrate into your eyes". The avocade oil which is a fat is great for any skin area. Our skin, esp. our eyes need this sort of fat whether we eat it or put it on our skin.I switch off putting this eye cream on during the day and night. I just put it on and it does a serous repaiment to my eye.
If you are looking for a basic moisturising eye cream, this is pretty good. There is no detectable smell, it absorbs pretty quickly and did not sting my eyes. Keeps my eyes hydrated for the entire night (I don't use it during the day, haven't had the need to yet... I don't use eye makeup much). Price is ok, I can afford it, so I am ok with this, and don't see a reason not to repurchase, based on my requirements.
It's surprising to me how people are saying this eye cream stung...I'm usually the one with uber sensitive skin, and this didn't bother me a bit!
As I'm still young, I can't really make any comments about wrinkles or anything with this product. The issue I have with my eyes is dark circles. Really, really dark circles. Unfortunately, they're genetic, so I have little hope that any sort of topical product would help them. And in this case, I was right - this cream did NOTHING for my circles.
However, looking past that (as it's not the reason I bought this), this cream is nicely hydrating for the under eye area, did not sting a bit, applied easily and smoothly, and absorbed quickly. As long as you give it a minute to sink in before applying makeup, it works nicely under concealer, no greasiness or smudging.
It's no miracle product, but it works nicely enough for now. I will continue to buy it until I find that magical product that fixes my genetics :P
EDIT: I have actually found a product that both addresses my dark circles (due to thin skin) and hydrates pretty well, so I have changed my answer to "will not buy again." This is still a decent product if your only problems are dry skin around your eyes, but there are better options out there.
