I have two of these, the red and the rose shade. Really like them both. The wear is comfortable and relatively long lasting. I love the combination of shine and stain. It's like having the best of both worlds. Plus, the color is natural looking. Doesn't scream out "I'M WEARING LIP COLOR!"
I'd heard great things about these new gloss stains on here and my past two buys based on MAU recommendations (Jordana Extreme Best Lash and Revlon Balm Stains) had been awesome. I wondered if I could get 3 for 3 when I decided to try these new glosses. I was not disappointed. I got Rose On And On and Lilac Ever After. They are both gorgeous! Rose On And On is a subtle 'just kissed' shade of pink that lends a slight flush and fullness to your lips. Lilac Ever After goes on barely there then blooms into this gorgeous soft wash of pink that looks like you bit your lips, reddish undertone but subtle.
It's more velvety than sticky, it lasted through eating a meal and still looked good. The smell is somewhat floral, which is odd but not overwhelmingly so.
All in all an incredibly impressive product that I will repurchase.
I was very excited to try this product since it was being so hyped up, but I was sadly disappointed. I tried three different colors and none of them really impressed me. I think the formula is cool, because something about the waxiness of the product does keep your lips looking shiny for a lot longer than most regular glosses. However, I have very pigmented lips and of the three I tried (one pale pink, one MLBB lilac, and one bright fuchsia), none really even showed up on me much. The fuchsia did leave a stain, but it was very pale. I suppose these only work if you either want a very pale wash of color or if you do not have very pigmented lips.
Rite Aid was having a BOGO 50% off so I had to pick these up. They retail for about $10 or so, depending on where you get them.
I got Rose On and On (a light, subtle pink that I adore and can definitely wear every day) and Pink Rebellion (a blue based, brighter pink).
I love these and am thinking about running out and buying all the colors. These have a light alcohol scent that's not unpleasant but might bother those who are sensitive to fragrance. I would say that's the only downside. Otherwise they wear really well, feel light and natural on your lips... none of that sticky, drying film feeling that most long wearing lip products seem to have. These are called shine stains and amazing, they do stain the lips while retaining the glossiness! Most stains are flat or matte but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my lips still had the glossy look for several hours. These go on sheer but are definitely buildable. I swiped each about 3 times on my lips to get the color effect I wanted. The applicator is shaped different too and application was easy and precise. Would definitely buy again!
UPDATE: I've bought a second shade, Berry Persistent--cheesy, cheesy, cheesy name; I so wish that people would allow "very" and "berry" to be two entirely different, non-interchangeable words--and I have to add a warning. Do NOT rub your lips together after this stuff sets, because then you're asking for a mess (#learnedthehardway). The good news is, once I'd reapplied, it comfortably withstood a shift at work with all the colour and most of the gloss intact, and it barely transferred onto the straw of my iced coffee. So even with that glitch, it still gets a HUGE thumbs up from me.
So far I’ve bought only one shade—Stubborn Plum, which is in fact a sheer, mid-bright orchid colour –but is it weird that I’m considering a drugstore/ high street product for my wedding this year? (Having already set aside a Lancome eye palette, a MAC blush and a Victoria’s Secret highlighting powder.) I suppose I could go all out and look up the YSL number it’s based on, but…why? Really, why? I can’t imagine it being much more in the zone than the contents of this gorgeous gold vessel. I have to say, L’Oreal has almost all the cheaper brands beat in terms of packaging, and some from the big dogs, too. Whatever you do, don’t get discouraged when this liquid stain spreads over your lips almost clear; give the pigments a minute to blossom, or develop, or whatever you want to call it. The gloss part is so fine and subtle that it looks more like a rich, clear balm than a sheet of vinyl stuck over your lips, which is what made me think that one of the more muted shades might be perfect for a bridal look. On a day where convention calls for you to make out with someone, you want to choose your lip products carefully…so even if I don’t end up going with one of these bad girls, let the record show that it was, at the very least, a contender.
I own one YSL glossy stain and 4 of the L'Oreal versions and I like the L'Oreal ones better. It applies smoothly with no splotches and when it dries, it doesn't move and is transfer resistant without being drying or sticky and it stays glossy for a long time. I like the YSL glossy stain but find that the L'Oreal version is more long wearing and transfer resistant. I also like the packaging... very upscale looking.
EDIT: I have downgraded this to 4 lippies. I still love the way these look and wear, but I have two complaints:
1. The color on the tube is nothing like the actual color. I mean, WAY off.
2. They feel glossy and creamy while on and stay that way for a long time, but as soon as it wears off or I take it off, my lips are Sahara dry and no amount of balm can fix it.
These are so comfortable for a long wearing gloss/stain. That alone is why I love them. You do feel them on, but they haven't left me feeling like I need a ton of lipbalm just to be OK with it. They actually keep a little bit of a glossy finish rather than the gloss wearing off and you're left with a dry matte finish.
I expect to get one of each color within the near future, but I have the two lightest pinks and am so happy with them. They dry a tad bit darker so, while it looks like they don't have much color payoff, I do have a basic nude lip. I wear the nudes more often, even with a full face of makeup, so those are right up my alley. Check them out.
After paying $$$ for a YSL glossy stain, I was excited to find L'Oreal came out with their less expensive version. I bought Rose On Rose and found it to be almost exactly like the YSL line. I would say the odor is comparable, packaging is nice, doe-tip applicator makes application easy. The only difference I notice so far is that there is less actual color and more gloss ratio in the L'Oreal line. I had to apply Color Caresse twice to make it more noticeable. (I have YSL in color #20 (hard-to-find) and it is amazing how it comes out of the container looking like it's going to be yucky coral and about 10-15 minutes later when I check myself out in the mirror, it's turned an absolutely lovely shade of pinkish red. But, I digress!) Back to L'Oreal.......great product. I'm headed back to Target to grab other colors before they're swiped up and the display is empty.
I own 5 of these already! I have never been so in love with a lip product before. I love lipstick but I hate the dryness and transfer, and if they are moisturizing they tend to slip around my lips a lot. I am very picky with gloss because I don't like sticky gloss or gloss that feels too thick on my lips. I love stains but I have really only had luck with the Revlon Balm Stains, but there's also the issue of transfer with those stains as well for the first hour or so of wear. Once these babies set there is no transfer, even the darkest colors do not transfer. It is magical. I've worn these for a few days and i'm surprised by how well the shine sticks around for being such a light product, you hardly feel it on your lips. I average around 3-4 hours of shine and then depending on the color the stain can last the entire day or around 3 hours later. I do not own the lightest colors, I have the medium colors and the darkest colors so I cannot tell you about the staining effect of the lighter colors. These are honestly a great bargain for your money, they are unique and perform extremely well. I found these for $7.99 at my Target. I highly recommend these babies!
I think these are phenomenal. I've tried tried the YSL product they supposedly mimic (and it is doubtful I ever will based on the price) so I can't speak about that. The light texture is what sold me, I've never felt anything quite like it. I love that isn't sticky or greasy. It then 'sets' on lips with sort of a satin finish, but my lips still look glossy and feel moisturized. Really unique! The colors apply a little differently than they look in the tubes depending on how many layers you apply, so you can go sheer or you can go more intense, which is rather nice. This is totally the product I didn't know I even needed, I often skip on gloss or lipstick when I go to classes or something and either stick with stains or balm because I don't want to have to think about my makeup (is the gloss/lipstick fading? Does it look weird b/c it is? etc) This product gives me the look without the worry... so natural and fresh without looking overly made up. LOVE. They are pricey to me ($10 at Walgreens, but I did get them BOGO 50% off) but at least on the upside they are oh so worth it. I also like the slim classy packaging.
