Ok, I think it's time for me to sign up for mascara addicts anonymous... I seem to have the need to try everything that promises lengthening on the market. The newest adds to my mascara collection are Define-a-lash Waterproof and Lash Stiletto. I guess Define-a-lash is an alright mascara for creating a natural daytime look... if you have very low expectations. The brush is very flimsy and feels incredibly inferior to almost every other mascara brush I've used. The mascara really doesn't lengthen my lashes at all, and it definitely doesn't volumise (but it doesn't promise to either). It's very waterproof. If I'm wearing one coat, it comes off easily with a good makeup remover, but if I'm wearing two coats, it takes a bit of an effort to get it off, which is kind of a drag, because I feel it might be a bit harsh for my eye area. I don't think this mascara deserves more than 2 lippies.

I honestly don't know what drove me to buy this product. Maybe it was on sale or maybe I desperately needed new mascara, as I'd run out. Seems to happen a lot. Anyway, I don't know. It's ok. Nothing special. I bought it in my pre-MUA days, so I bought it based on my first impression and the packaging, not reviews. I possibly saw a commercial for it.
Firstly the brush is awful. It's so bendy; it literally feels like it's going to break at the base when I put it back into the tube. Also, the brush head is made out of an odd rubbery plastic and hasn't many bristles. It's very sparse to look at. You can't apply much pressure to your lashes, if you know what I mean. It's just so bendy and weird.
The formulation is fine, it wasn't too thick or thin, but was quite clumpy, especially toward the end of its life. At the beginning I didn't notice that much clumping, but there was some. Overall, it's quite a nice application if you apply it carefully with enough pressure to avoid clumping. Didn't do much to define my lashes, it kind of stuck them together, so in a way it volumized in a really odd way. Sometimes this looked nice, but it didn't look very natural. A little like porn star lashes, aka, overdone.
Generally a nice formulation.
Standard, nicely coloured average packaging.
Volumized in an odd way. Good if you like fake looking lashes.
Clumpy, didn't define, unless define means to clump together.
Expensive in comparison to Colossal at £7.82 for 6ml.
I kind of did this back to front. First i bought the product, then i read the reviews on whether it was good or not. I actually bought this mascara because i use Maybelline Define a Line eyeliner and it has been awesome. Normally i use Maybelline Volume Express XXL and i was just looking for something with that little bit extra. This mascara was awesome. I have very fine and fairly short lashes which tend to go in all different directions. I used my eyelash curler just to get my lashes all going in the one direction and then put the mascara on. I did both eyes top and bottom and didn't even have to dip my brush back in between eyes. It lengthened my lashes and the curl stayed all day - which it never does. Also easily applied the exact right amount for each lash - natural but dramatic enough at the same time...and no clumps!
I did not like this mascara at all.
It seperates the lashes to much and makes them look very thin.
I like mascaras that make my lashes look fuller.
Its overall a horrible mascara.
This is my first mascara, and I'm pretty impressed. My lashes are long, but not curly or thick. First thing, this mascara gives the look of a lot of lashes. My lashes looks as if they've been multiplied. I got it in the blackest black, which I love. My eyes look better, more open. The cons: too many clumps and you have that horrid, spidery lash look. Your lashes will stick together if you put on like 3,4 coats. Put on 2, maybe 3 at the max. That's all you need for beautiful lashes. I took of a lippie for the fact that it clumps, and that if you put too many coats on, your lashes feel hard. But for the price its a great product. It does what it says, defines and lengthens.
I'am starting to HATE this mascara, its so wet and when I apply it puts on too much and the fact that it's a waterproof mascara it won't come off if you try to fix it. I tried my best to work with it for a few days but it always give me the same result everytime I apply, it clumps my lashes because of the formula, its too wet and easily clumps the lashes even though it's so called "clump free." I 'am still going to use it because it's going to be a waste of money if I don't, but in my opinion I would never buy this product again. If your going to buy a mascara with the same results as this one try L'Oreal Telescopic mascara.
This is the BEST mascara I have ever tried!!!! After curling and applying, my usually short straight asian lashes are huge and curled and long! The formula is a bit wetter than the others ive tried (like full n soft), but surprisingly, it didn't uncurl my lashes like my clinique curling mascara does. The brush is really wobbly, but it grabs on to my lashes like crazy, and the trick is to go slow. There are a few tiny clumps, but it isn't noticeable unless you lean in super close. I never thought my lashes could get this big, since they either get weighed down and uncurl or clump up like crazy whenever i use other mascaras. They are definitely longer as well. I think i will use the full n soft for daily use since it also keeps my curl, but this one will be for those days when i need a confidence boost.
I bought it for the pretty bottle, but i'm keeping it for the amazing results :)
For YEARS, I've been looking for a mascara that makes my lashes look as long and volumized as this, plus will hold a curl all day—and though I'll still try other mascaras from time to time, I've found that I always come back to this one.
PROS: Holds a curl all day; doesn't flake. even on lower lashes; lengthens lashes; volumizes lashes; only needs one coating (though per "coat" I'd say I run the brush through my lashes as many times as I can before it starts to dry); doesn't clump easily; doesn't make lashes feel "crispy" or hard; awesome brush, very flexible
CONS: Hard to remove, even with eye makeup remover; will clump and make lashes spidery if you try to add another coat after the first one's dried; seems to dry out about two weeks quicker than other mascaras
Label says waterproof, but it hardly stayed on my lashes when I cried.
I guess it's fine as an everyday mascara, but don't use it if you plan to go swimming or watching a tear-jerker. Unless of course, you're after the raccoon eyes look.
I really don't like this stuff very much. I gave it a 2 because I hate the way it applys, but the final product is ok. Just for reference, I've never been a fan of waterproof mascara because its a pain to take off. I dont like the brush, the rubber applicator end part is very flimsy and moves around on the wand as you apply it. Its VERY easy to apply too much of this and end up with a clumpy mess. You get a lot of product with just one swipe on your lashes. My lashes are very long and thick naturally, and just trying to get all my lashes coated with this once was making it all clumpy and gross, I had to bring out the lash comb, which I never have to do with my regular mascaras. The end result looks fine, but the process of applying it is much more.. strenuous and problematic than most mascaras. Basically I bought this because I needed a waterproof mascara for summer, and this was on sale. I wouldn't re purchase this or recommend this to anyone.
