One of my favorite mascaras, loved the brush and the way my lashes looked.
I received this as a sample, not sure if I would have tried it otherwise as length and curl are more important to me than volume. I can't stand clumpy mascaras and this product did produce poor separation of the lashes. The wand seems to hold so much product that I spend the first 5 minutes scraping off the excess. I agree with the reviewer who said that it kills the curl, it is a bit too heavy. 2 lippies just for the colour, which I agree is a nice glossy black. Can't use it any more as it started to make my eyes water, it's the only mascara I've ever developed sensitivity to.
This is one of the 2 best mascaras I discovered during the last couple of years ( the other one is Kanebo 38 degrees lengthening and separating), so I'm quite surprised it got so many disappointed reviews.
Pros: voluminous brush, lots of volume in rich deep black, extreme separation and length, glides on nicely.
Cons: starts to smudge a bit by midday and is highly water-sensitive.
I'm switching High Impact and Kanebo 38 from time to time, because Kanebo has all the pros, lacks the cons, but I somehow have problems removing it and seem to loose lashes, so have to give them a break with High Impact.
I tried this mascara and it does give my lashes alot of oomph! It darkens them very well and gives me that "false lashes" look.
I love this mascara! Really gives the dramatic lashes I've been wanting! :o) My new HG!
The main advantage about this (besides the lenght it allows and being really black) is the easiness in removing it: most mascaras (if not all!)are very hard to remove and after washing my face I get a black spot around eyes; this one only takes a small amount of make-up remover and no residue is left to tell a story!
Update: tried Hypnose by Lancôme; I'll get back to High Impact as Hypnose (as I predicted) doesn't wash easily as Clinique's does and more important, is not by far as black!!
Up-date: I've put Hypnose in one day, Queen lash the 2nd and High Impact on the 3rd: the last one wins (more thickness, more lenght, richer color)
I started using this product a couple years ago after getting a free gift of it with a purchase. It never fails me. Some people below me complained that it isn't dramatic enough.
What I do is (with a very careful hand) put it on the very tips of my lashes, to add alot of length, then I let that coat dry. THEN I do a whole-lash coat. Adds more drama then just swiping it on indiscriminately.
Recieved a Brand New GWP of this in Black from a wonderful swapper. It has quickly become one of my HG mascaras, I do like a full bristle wand which is what you get with this. Makes my lashes fuller, thicker and longer without being OTT. Normally with Mascaras I find that I have to wipe the excess off the wand before I use, with this I have not needed to do that.
Will be repurchasing.
I like this mascara apart from the results I get...
I love the texture of the product (creamy but not too thick), nice brush shape it's not too thick nor too thin, exactly the right shape to get it to roll evenly through your lashes without getting any on your lids, the packaging is a nice glittery green... It's not too expensive I paid this 16€ but it's normally 20€.
BUT the results... "dramatic lashes on contact" says the box... my lashes with this on look 100% natural... where is the drama?? the length? the volume??? the only difference is the colour..
It's very pretty if you're going for something natural but I love thick and almost unnatural lashes.
For this reason I will not be repurchasing... other than that the formula and brush is great (everything that I want in a mascara) but the natural look isn't for me...
ok, I tried this mascara a long time ago and hated it. recently I went on a clinique binge and decided to give it another go...I'm glad I did! they must have reformulated because it works much better now. The trick to making this work is to wipe off the brush before applying. I wish the hole it the top was smaller so you would get less excess product. It takes a tiny bit of curl out of my lashes, but that is a good thing for me as I curl them wayyyyy too much...like up to my eyebrows :p I first curl my lashes, wipe the brush, apply one thin coat to both eyes, use a clean spoolie to seperate if necessary, then dip & wipe the brush again and apply coat #2, using the spoolie again to remove any clumps or stuck together lashes. Gives a lovely natural look with a bit of oomph. the color is a wonderful true black, it does not flake, and it does not smudge. I even slept in it the other day and I looked just as good when I got up as when I went to bed, though I had to wipe a stray black fleck or two off. definitly a keeper. gives similar but more natural and thick looking results as my covergirl lash blast. The clinique brush is much softer though...probably the softest mascara brush I have ever used. never irritates my eyes, feels wonderful to put on, and doesn't get any spots on my lids.
*update* This mascara also layers well, so if you need something a bit tougher to keep your curl or want more vavoom but still want to use this, do one coat of the other mascara, let it dry, then put a light coat of this over it. you will get the great black pigmentation and natural look with a bit more oomph. My fav right now is TheBalm mascara under this :)
