It does work for me, but it's breaking me out. My skin has been pretty clear, this is the only thing I've changed about my routine, and now I'm breaking out on my cheeks. However, it does keep my skin matte all day. But, I'm not trading matte skin for breakouts.
All I can honestly say is wow! An absolute HG!!
I have tried numerous oil control products with no success, and this product (in conjunction with a few other products) definitely keeps my oil at bay, all day long. I have very large pores scatter all over my nose, and within approx. 20 minutes after make-up application my nose has a "dewy sheen" which quick transitions to "mega-oily" in an hour or so.
The MoM really works so effectively, i don't even feel the need to blot any more! That being said, oil still appears by the end of the day, but thankfully only in its "dewy" state.
The packaging is massive and cumbersome, so i often dispense the product into a smaller more travel ready container.
Will re-buy without question, but the huge bottle should last for ages!
This keeps my very oily T zone oil free all day. I have only used this 3 times. I am a little worried it might actually dry me out if I use it everyday so I have only used it when i knew I was going to be to busy for touch ups. I may have to try this as a mask like others have.
For those who feel unfortunate for having very oily skin like me, there is hope.
My face typically gets oily after an hour or so after cleansing. If I apply moisturizer (oil-free of course), my face looks oily earlier, and by the end of the day, you could use the oil to fry eggs for dinner.
I searched everywhere for anything that would help my skin look less oily, help me look better, and help my self-esteem. You don't know how many times people put me on the spot for my skin being very oily :
After using Milk of Magnesia (MOM), my face was like "wow." I used it as a mask, and after washing it off, my face felt really smooth. I felt that it sucked the oil deep from my skin. I applied moisturizer right after, and it is now about two hours after I applied it, and my face still looks matte, though with a slight glow from the moisturizer. Next, I'm going to try to use it as a foundation or just leaving a very small layer for the day (I hope it won't irritate my skin).
Taking advice from another website (buzzle.com), you could use MOM in two ways: 1) As a mask. Apply after cleansing and wash after after drying. 2) Under makeup (I'm a guy, but am beginning to use Bare Essentials).
Good luck friends. continued >>
I ran across a video on youtube for milk of magnesia as a base layer to help with extremely oily skin. I ran out and got some immediately because I thought, what can it hurt? It's super cheap so I would not have been out much if it didn't work. Well this is the greatest thing that has happened to my face EVER!!! It is 2:26 in the afternoon as I type this and I have had my makeup on since 6:30am and NO OIL AT ALL. Usually by 9:00am (or even earlier) I would need to blot and reapply powder. If you haven't tried it, I urge you to. I applied it the first time with my fingers but now have begun using a foundation brush. I let it dry while I am drying my hair and then apply my makeup. It is fantastic. I have terribly oily skin, huge pores and uneven tone. This stuff makes my makeup look like a professional did it and keeps it oil free all day. No exaggeration!
I am in love with this. I have suffered from acne for a long time and its summer here so the oily mess I turn in to make it even worse.I use this at night as a thick face mask and during the day to stay matte. I dont even have to use powder and at the end of the day in maybe a tiny bit shiney but i would have been disgusting before. As night I take a cotton ball and THICKLY apply to areas with acne. This (with a acne pill) has cleared my skin from pretty bad acne to getting to be almost clear its amazing waking up every morning with such great improvement. I even am less oily when i wake up. I suggest waiting awhile to apply a tiny bit after you wash your face so it doesnt come out to white. If i shows up white all you have to do is blend it. I use a makeup spondge and its great.
I've seen tons of review and youtube about milk of magnesia and finally gave it a shot. First of all, it does work. It works AMAZING! I tried this right after I got home and still had make up on my face. I applied this on my T zone with a small amount and I blinked once and there was a new face in the mirror. I tried this as a primer, but it didn't work at all and broke me out. HOWEVER, I'm using this as an oil mattifier after my makeup's done. I transfer MOM into empty spray bottle, carry it in my bag, and spray whenever I see shine on my face. you should pat it on the face as fast as you can so that you don't have any white residue on your face. but I like that it left white things on my face because I feel like I put some white matte powder on my face. I didn't like to use powder to blot my face because I feel it's dirty and unpleasant, but now I found a great, marvelous, unbelievable oil free liquid powder lol I LOVE milk of magnesia so much. I really want to know who is the first one to use MOM as a makeup product. I will bow down to him/her. I'm gonna use this till the day I die.
So I've been seeing milk of magnesia all over Youtube and other beauty blogs and every swore that it got rid of shine of their face. At first I was skeptical about putting something meant for my stomach on my face but I've tried everything and thought what could it hurt? I got a cotton ball and dabbed some along my T zone. Be careful to not put too much though because I did the first time and it looked like I had dry drool on my chin lol. But the end result is that this stuff ended up working for me. Usually after an hour of putting on my makeup I'm already shiny so this really helped! I will definitely buy this again and it's so cheap and easy! This is perfect for anyone who wants to treat their facial shine.
This product is so awesome!!! I have such bad skin and anything I put on it breaks me out horribly. Im so glad I found this cheap product that works wonders on me! my only suggestion is to get a squeeze bottle for the product and ske it before use.
I have very oily skin and have spent tons of money on different mattifiers/primers for my face. Nothing worked until I started using Milk of Magnesia. Finally I am no longer an oil slick by 9:00 am:) This stuff really works and does not cost much. I wash and tone my face then apply a thin layer. Once dry I apply my moisturizer and my makeup. Now by 5:00 pm I am only a tad bit oily which is something that I can deal with. I also up the amout of days I exfoiliate my skin too based on a recommendation from someone. Oily skin needs to exfoiliate more often.
