I am on my second tube of this and honestly it is the only primer I have ever liked. I have used drug store to high end trying to find a primer that did... well anything. The primer i ended up sticking with before this was basically a lotion and, after using this, I really don't think it did anything at all. This gel is very effective as a primer and the name is quite descriptive; it is actually a gel consistency that turns to a powdery soft substance when applied. The thing that I love most is that it does not feel like it is sitting on my skin, nor does it sink in and completely dissolve. This leaves the skin feeling so silky smooth and makes applying foundation super easy! As other reviewers stated, I too feel like I use less foundation when applied on top of this gel. This product is originally made to protect skin, and I think this is what makes it work so well as a base under makeup. Even alone it gives my skin a soft satin look! I have somewhat sensitive, acne prone skin and have not had any adverse reactions after using this on top of my moisturizer. A few tips: use sparingly, make sure any other face products have dried, let it set for 5 minutes or so, and be careful when squeezing the tube or you will end up with waaay too much product and waste it.

Just a dab of this on your face after you let your moisturizer set in works wonders. It glides on smoothly, is clear, and sets up a base that allows your foundation to go on evenly and effortlessly. It also keeps my foundation from settling into wrinkles. What you spend on this ($5) you will easily make up for in foundation, because it allows you to use less foundation. I am very happy with this and have bought tubes as gifts for my friends. I noticed other reviewers didn't care for this at all. I have to wonder if it's the climate: I live in a very dry climate, so there is no interaction with humidity. I have a friend in Austin, TX, however, and she still uses it and likes it.

Hi gals. I am from hot humid Durban in South Africa. I used Smashbox photofinish and it worked a charm. Then will web surfing I saw Monistat as a primer. I had to order from overseas. I eagerly awaited for it. Damn what a horrible primer! It feels nice in my hands but once applied my pores were accentuated, my foundation sliding off. I wear Double Wear by Estee lauder and this primer managed to ruin double wear's staying put power. Back to smashbox, though expensive, it is amazing primer. Love all your reviews on Makeup alley

This product worked great as a primer, but it made me break out SO badly. Definitely not for acne-prone skin. However, I have been using it under my eyes as a primer for that area, since I always use a lot of concealer there, and it works just fine. But as far as all of your face, I wouldn't try it.

I was a bit iffy about the idea of using this product on my face but I decided to give it a try. I started off testing the product on a small area on my neck first and then onto a small area my face. I have to say this product works amazing. It is better than my smashbox primer and works just like my lancome face primer.

My skin is VERY sensitive, I have eczema on my face and body. This product never irritates my skin and does not make my face look flaky. Though sometimes by the end of the night my face does get a bit oily, but my skin type is oily so that may be a factor.

Highly recommend it!

I thought I'd give this product a go after hearing all the talk about it being a wonderful primer. I never used any sort of primer before (I thought they were too expensive to bother with, to be honest), so I can't compare this to any higher end products. However, I can say this stuff works wonders and it's so cheap it's silly (not to mention you only need a pea drop for your whole face, so it lasts a long time too)!
This really does improve the longevity of my makeup. I have very long days (12+ hours), and I would often cringe by the time I got home to see the state of my makeup. This stuff keeps it in place, and while it doesn't prevent oil completely (I will always have an oily t-zone, and I doubt any product could eliminate that entirely), it definitely prevents all of that slippage, creasing, rub-away of my powder and concealer that used to occur, AND I don't have to blot as much anymore! I've even taken heavy naps with this stuff under my makeup and I wake up looking exactly the same.
I let my sister sample it once and now she is hooked too!

If you have sensitive skin you must try this!
I'm allergic to most primers and thought this would have less colors fragrances etc and sure enough it does. This is the only primer other than elf's that I can wear.It has a very smooth consistency that goes on easily and not hard to blend. It really leaves the skin super smooth making makeup application a breeze. It has great lasting power. It prevents my makeup from melting off at the end of the day.
Just be aware not to press the bottle to hard you will get way more than you need

Ok, this product is a good primer. It makes my makeup last all day. The only down side is that it causes me to have blackheads. Its weird because I hardly ever had them. I only get hormonal acne but never blackheads. I have been using this product for about a month now, and will stop using it on a daily basis. Only on special occassions, but definetly not daily.

This is a great primer- evens out my skin, makes me look poreless, decreases oil reduction somewhat, just makes my skin and makeup look perfect.

Unfortunately, used every day, it also makes me break out.

I will save this and use it on special occasions but definitely not for every day.

You want a dirt cheap primer that works better than 90% of what's out there? This is it. Feels silky going on, keeps foundation even, no irritation. I would say its fairly decent at controlling oil, but its not the perfect mattifier. Overall, no complaints here.
