Wow! Love this so much, I think I have it in the C4 and it's perfect. Whether you want to just sweep it over BB cream or tinted moisturiser to create a day time look with good coverage or whether you want to apply it on top of Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, either way it creates a flawless finish. I was considering buying the mineralise skin finish instead of this one, however, I was reassured by the lovely staff at Mac that with this coverage, it would not disappoint. It certainly has met my expectations, I cannot believe I waited this long to get it. I just apply it with my multitasker real techniques brush, super easy; super good coverage!!!!!!
I wear this over my BB cream. I adore this powder. Always great coverage :)
I first bought this about two years ago. I loved it because it kept me matte for most if the day. But lately it is not as good. I think my skin is getting used to it. I won't repurchase it.
I was matched with NW20, although I'm usually NW15, but that's fine, I can keep it for summer time when I'm darker.
I do like the coverage, I have yet to find a powder foundation that covers this well, and the fact that it's matte after application.
What I don't like is that it doesn't stand up to oilies at all! I had to blot a few times within the past 4 hours, with my liquids I only have to do this once. So it sucks at oil control.
It doesn't separate or anything, still looks good after blotting.
I will not buy a different shade, because I don't seem to do good with powder foundations, they all make me oily.
I've been buying this full-coverage foundation for years. I love it and I'd not know what to use instead. So many shades to select from and the coverage is great. I prefer to purchase online as shipping is free and the MAC store near me is always too busy.
I have been looking for a foundation that requires very little blending, covers acne scars and does not oxidize on the skin. This does all that! I have used so many foundations from high end brands like dior to lower end like revlon, and none have had the full coverage I desired, except this one. This is very matte, as in 1950s matte. But that is what I love about it, because throughout the day when your skin secretes its oils it mixes with the foundation and you get a nice dewy look, as long as you don't sweat a ton it should look the same on you as it did on me.
I usually use quite heavy moisturizer because I have dry patches on my skin, but I cant use them underneath this foundation as it will make this look unbelievably oily after two hours, that's why I gave this a four rather than a five. I use a mattifying moisturizer instead and that seems to
keep it from going oily for a good 4 to 5 hours. Because I don't use a heavy moisturizer during the day now because of this foundation, I use a really rich night creme and lots of oils to keep my skin soft. Also I find when wearing powder foundation, exfoliating really well makes it look so much smoother.
I usually use this on its own, but sometimes I will apply a liquid or cream foundation underneath and use this to set it.
I apply using my dior full coverage powder foundation brush and apply it in circular motions blending down into my neck.
UPDATE****: I have decided to give this a three as after about a month of using it daily I have got those makeup bumps (not pimples) under the skin, I think it is a result of clogged pores. Yet, I double cleanse my skin at night, and I still get them. I think you have to use a primer with this to act as a barrier so the makeup doesn't secrete into the skin
-buildable to full coverage
-very matte appearance
-easy to apply and blend
-***if skin gets oily or sweat, the product separates, melts and gets incredibly cakey
-thick feel, can also look quite fake, not that "your skin" appearance
overall, i will use this in the colder months when im not going out for a long time, because if my combo skin or hot weather start to make my face sweat, this product is a cakey mess.
This is my first review ever, I decided to write it because this is my "holy grail" makeup. There is a story behind it so bare with me...
I first started to use studio fix back in HS, I had heard about through most of my friends, and when I found out it would help me with my oily skin dilemma I decided it was worth a shot.
Not too long after I started using it I was breaking out really bad, and since I have clear skin I wasn't used to it /: I decided I had to stop using it which was heartbreaking since I LOVED the way my skin looked and felt
Fast forward a year- I had moved states and wanted to look nice for my second year of HS as a sophomore, so I decided to repurchase. I literally started breaking out within the week but I said fuck it, I'd rather be pimply than oily... After about 2 months or so my face started to clear up and after about 3 months my face was clear once again....
I guess my face just got used to it ...
moral of the story: YES this will make you break out, but if you prefer pimples over oily skin I suggest you give this a chance. this is honestly the best makeup out there for my skin type (oily)
I really like this for light to medium coverage. I use ELF's powder brush to apply and a little goes a long way. Lasts throughout work day and not heavy like foundation. Would highly recommend
I bought this almost 5 months ago and used it every day and there is still some left! You don't need to use hardly anything to take away shine, but this does give you a very matte effect which isn't very natural. The coverage works great witht he studio fix fluid foundation, but I do have to top this up after about 4 hours... this could be because of the foundation being a bit oily however. For the price and how much you get it's deffinetly worth it.
