Let's just say that I came into The Body Shop with now blemishes and once I used this product, I returned to The Body Shop with a blemished face. I don't know what's in this stuff but it's horrible for my skin! It also has a weird smell to it. I'm sticking to my Arcona Raspberry Acne Bar because it definitely helped with the irritation the Tea Tree Oil Face Wash (and line in general) gave me. Anyways, I will never buy this product again because it just didn't go to well with my skin. I'm not saying that it hasn't worked for other people because I'm sure it has! It just ended up not working for me:(

This product aggravated my skin sooo bad! I ended up with more acne than I started with. No good. The smell is super strong too. It's not totally unpleasant but it's definitely strong.
I would never purchase this again. It made my face worse! Plus, there so many chemicals in it (which I overlooked when I purchased it) and I'm sticking to all natural ways to wash my face now and it's working better than any face wash I've ever bought.

this is a facial cleanser to avoid. i believe in tea tree oil's benefits, but this product is filled up with chemicals, which turns it against you if you have acne prone skin. when i had used it (and that was when i knew less about these chemicals), this did not control my sebum level at all, and even aggravated it. i ended up with white bumps. if you dont know much about chemicals, a hint for you: buy beauty products with shortest list of ingredients.

usually i dont react strongly to smells that most ppl find offensive or gross. however, this product smells very strongly of bathroom cleaner when you put it on your face. it also didn't seem to clean very well and left my face with some pimples for the couple of days i tried it.

will not repurchase.

ah I really wish this could be my cleanser! :( it's really nice, it makes your skin feel clean and balanced - not dry or oily. it smells nice (like tea tree), and isn't even expensive, especially for the amount you get! I was in love with this when I started using it, but had to stop because it gave me like.. little bumps on the skin yknow. so sometimes I'll use this cleanser when my skin is feeling really dry, but otherwise I just use my clinique. I would still recommend people to try this, because if it doesn't break you out it'd be a fantassstic cleanser!!

I love this face wash. I have tried so many but as soon as I started using this I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin - way fewer blemishes. However, I had to stop using it because it dried my skin out SO badly.

Once I found a moisturizer that worked for me (the clinique dramatically different lotion) I didn't have any problems with this drying me out any more. One summer I figured my skin was getting better and decided to go with a cheaper cleanser to save some money, but my skin was so much worse, as soon as I started using this again it cleared up.

I think if you don't have acne prone skin there's not much point using this, it's probably too harsh. It worked very well for me, though.

What it Claims:
"Best if you want to: Prevent blemishes and remove excess oil with a refreshing gel-bashed facial wash that won’t over-dry your skin and is gentle enough for daily use.
* Lemon tea tree and Community Trade tea tree oil from Kenya contain anti-bacterial properties that help fight blemishes and prevent new ones from forming.
* Tamanu oil from Madagascar has a soothing effect and helps to calm irritation and redness."

Claims - True or False?
1) Prevents blemishes: False.
2) Remove excess oil: True.
3) Calms irritation and redness: False.

Packaging:
Comes in a large bottle with a flip top cap, clear plastic and simple labeling. While the packaging is hygienic, it's not very practical. The lid can easily break off, and the whole packaging can be somewhat clumsy. The design allows you to use up the entire product without having to destroy it to get that last bit out, and the clear plastic lets you see how much product is left.

Consistency and Scent:
This face wash has a very gel-like consistency that lathers easily into a soft foam. It is on the thicker, slimier side, so it's easy enough to work with. It can be quite drying, so unless you have super oily skin, it could easily leave your skin feeling uncomfortable. It's drying/dehydrating nature led to my skin becoming far greasier with its use; while it removed excess oil when used, it did not prevent more oil from surfacing, and my skin was oilier when using this compared to other cleansers. Did not appear to leave any tangible residue on the skin most of the time. The scent of the product is that of strong tea tree oil, which is a scent I quite enjoy. It does not linger.

Bang for your Buck:
Listed at $11.00CAD/USD for 8.4oz/250ml. One of these bottles, used 1-2 times a day, would generally last anywhere from 4 to 6 months of use. The foaming cleanser in the same line lasted generally only 3 months. Would average between approximately $20 and $35 per year.

Final Consensus:
An okay cleanser for oily to very oily skin that does not suffer from dehydration or dryness. Not ideal for acne sufferers, as the drying nature could bring on more acne; it was in fact one of the things I would attribute to my first bought of acne. Would not recommend to others.
- pros: nice fragrance, doesn't irritate the skin
- cons: too drying, can leave a film, some might find the consistency to be weird, worsened/caused my acne during my youth, left my skin oilier, poor packaging.

Overall Rating: 2/5

Would you buy this product again: No.

my mom got a set of this cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and actual tea tree oil for spot treatment for me as a gift from the body shop. I had heard amazing things about this, but i have to say, it isn't a HG product for me.

Yes, it cleansed my skin, and decreased my acne, but only slightly. The worst thing about this product is the smell. To me, it smelt like burning rubber - like someone set a car on fire or something! (nasty!)
To be honest, i feel guilty my mom spent money on this product. I ended up giving her the toner and cleanser because i couldnt get over the smell.

However, I used the moisturizer because there was barely a smell and it left my skin soft and got rid of my acne. The tea tree oil works too, but again, smelt like someone was blowing up a car on my face.

the bottles are nice, and my set came in a green bag which i still use.
i think this product will work for some people, and will be wonderful if you can get over the smell. And maybe it's a personal thing, because my mom LOVES the smell of this stuff. good luck if you've bought this :) theres my review.

This cleanser worked really well for me thankfully. I have oily, acne -prone skin and have gone through a multitude of cleansers (some that didn't work at all, and others that *almost* worked). This was actually my first purchase from The Body Shop and I'm really glad it didn't end up being a waste of money. It's pricier than your average drugstore cleanser but the bottle usually lasts me for at least 3 months. I used this along with Red Clover pills (costs $10.00 CAN--you should be able to pick it up from your local nutrition house/ wholefoods store) and my skin cleared right up =0D. This is an awesome makeup brush cleaner as well so it's multi-purpose function makes the price worth it. I have moved on to another facial cleanser so this is no longer my HG facewash! However, I do still use it occassionally to remove foundation and eye makeup before properly cleansing, but I would purchase again.

I LOVED this product before I had my son. It worked SO well, kept my blemishes clear and even helped with my blackheads, but after I gave birth, my skin changed completely (becoming more dry and more sensitive). I really would still recommend it though and if my skin ever goes back to the way it was before (oily, acne-prone, only mildly sensitive), then I will purchase this again. I do wish it came in a bottle with a pump, although this bottle is better for travelling. Anyways, it really is a great product, just doesn't work for my skin type anymore.
