This product works well for me. Personally I don't like to put it on my face because it makes me feel too oily, even if I put on moisturizer after it, it makes me feel shiny. It works on scabs applying it every night it heals it faster than doing nothing. I've heard it's good for stretch marks. The smell smells like sunscreen to me. I don't mind it, but that's another reason why I don't like putting it on my face. I would definitely buy this again =)
I have gone through several bottles of Bio-Oil and think it's a fantastic product. I started using it upon returning from vacation in Mexico when I began to peel. The smell is great - fresh and warm.
For the winter months I would recommend layering it under a lightweight body moisturizer.
I have also used it on my face at night and woke up to dewy, plump skin and NO zits (I breakout easily).
This product did absolutely nothing for me. I used it for a few months to try to improve my acne scars. I finally just gave it to a freind to try because it was taking up space in my drawer. A waste of $.
If I had read the ingredients list first, I could have just made this stuff at home. Just take a mineral oil base, then but in some of my favorite natural oils (olive, argan, avocado, jojoba, or even coconut). Nivea creme contains similar ingredients, just less oils. Not buying ever again.
People expect this to be some miracle stretch mark eraser, but it really isn't. If you can afford to buy it and use it religiously (3-4 times a day) then yeah, it will help diminish the appearance of both scars and stretch marks, but like I said it is no miracle product to reverse stretched skin.
I had used it for about two months on both scars and stretch marks in conjunction with Palmers Cocoa butter lotion, and I saw results slowly coming in. I only stopped because I got tired of spending so much money on lotions and oils.
If you have the time and money, it works. It works even more on stretch marks if you combine it with weight loss and/or toning.
I bought this for stretch marks and its does Absolutely nothing for them. Im still looking for a good stretch mark "eraser" I've tried so many things but this failed me. Its a great moisterizer so if you're on the market for that this is okay but even if you need a oil moisterizer Coconut Oil is the best for that and its all natural. Hence i find no use in this. It just takes up space.
My mom bought this to use on both her face and mine when I was younger and we were on vacation and forgot a moisturizer. I was probably about 12 and I had pretty oily skin already so I never used it on my face and my mom (who has dry skin) only did while we were away so it lasted quite a while. Eventually it was just taking up cupboard space so one day when I got out of the shower I rubbed it all over my legs and was amazed by the results. It was mid winter and my legs decide to get really dry in the winter, but after applying this to my legs at night after my shower they were super soft in the morning. It did not irritate my skin, it smelt mild (was not heavily perfumed) and soaked in really fast for an oil. I might repurchase this product if my legs get really dry this winter, but it's January and so far my legs are doing OK so I'll see if I need to get it, but at least I know I can get a fast acting moisturizing product if I need to.
I bought a bottlke of this when it was all the rage. It's just plain gross. I rubbed it into stretch marks and scars (on my body, not face) and it did nothing to improve them. It just felt super oily. Plus, the bottle was always oily on the outside, staining things and it would leak if it fell over.
If you want to improve on scars, the best thing is to use is a silicone gel. That's what they use in hospitals. Even no-name brands work better than this.
Majority of people who are complaining about this product are probably doing that because their skin is either really really really sensitive or oily. If you have even a slightly oily skin, do not use on face because it will make your face even oilier. However, DO use on body! Apparently skin seems to like this oil because it's the most fast-absorbing product i've used, considering that almost none of it is being evaporated. Also, I really love the smell, it's kind of sweet and smells like babies, and who doesn't want to smell like babies?
Also, I sometimes use this on my hair after shower. I use it only when I'm air-drying it, not blow dry, because I'm afraid that I might fry my hair when heat and oil is combined. And for me, it really made my hair so much more softer and silkier. I even like to use this oil better than some other oils specifically meant to use on hair.
My only complain is the applicator. It's made so that the oil only comes out one drop at a time but when it comes out the oil tends to cling onto the surface area around its opening... It's really messy and inconvenient. It would have been so much better if it was a pump or just about anything else but this.
But overall, I really love this oil and definitely recommend trying it out!
This was quite an expensive product for me and it did not fade any of my stretch marks. I acquired my stretch marks as a teen so they are quite a few years old. However, it did give me amazingly soft skin so I used it as a weekly body oil.
