The only red lipstick I think I can pull off. I line and fill in with Brick and smooth this on and it stays put through drinking, lunch, and all day at work with only one slight touch up after lunch. Definitely stains your lips, but it didn't turn horribly neon pink or anything on mine. I make sure my foundation is flawless, add some black eyeliner and rock this like a true sex kitten.
Make sure to blot unless you want to leave your crimson mark all over your significant other!
This was my favorite red for many years until discovering Gabrielle by Chanel. The thing is, that this lipstick is just the perfect color for nearly everyone I know. I am very cool-toned and it looks great on me. It also looks fab on my neutral-warm toned sister. The staying power is pretty good, particularly when paired with a balm and a gloss. The only major problem I have with this is that it dries my lips out really, really badly. I know that since it's a matte lipstick, some of that is to be expected. But, this is really uncomfortable. The price we pay for beauty I guess!
I got this from the "back to Mac" program and have repurchased it twice since. I'm a big red lipstick fan and this is usually my go-to. You have to wear a lip liner or else you will wind up like me, (a horrible incident at the movies where I had red lipstick bleeding onto my chin and nobody said anything to me!)
I also really like mixing it with a little concealer and have a subtle red color. You should also invest in a good lip balm too as this is a matte formula and can be very drying. :)
I'm one of the people this doesn't work on. This lipstick did nothing for my complexion at all and I don't think it's a neutral red. I wore it maybe 6 times, thinking I looked great until my roommate politely told me it didn't. :o( It also made my teeth look yellow.
It's such an iconic red and I thought it would be a universal shade but on me it just comes out a bit too dark, like brick and somewhat dull. I detected a bit of yellow in this.
I'm a MAC 35-40 if that helps.
I find true neutral reds or pink reds look better on me as well as MAC's Classic Dame (mattene) and MAC's Red as my skin has a tendency to look sallow. 3 lippies for being a beautiful, long wearing shade.

The best red lipstick. Great formula, long lasting and I have never seen anyone who doesn't look excellent with it. When I use MAC's brick red lip pencil and blot, it's perfect. It's a commitment, but worth it!
This lipstick is beautiful! Stands out so nice. I used to always debate on this or ruby woo and ended up getting both. Russian red is classier to me. Ruby woo is playful.
LOVE this color! Reds that look good on my fair/cool skin are hard to find but this one is lovely. To me, there's nothing like a sexy red lip. The formula is perfect. Not too dry but not too wet, has good staying power. As always, love the classic MAC vanilla scent.
Russian Red is the universal red lip colour, red/blue. I cover the entire lip area with Mac Liner in Brick first for more staying power. Wearing red lipstick is high-maintenance, fastidious application but it's worth every bit of attention received...
I used to wear red lipstick almost every day and i had always wanted to buy russian red , because of all these people raving for it . The product itself is a very beautiful red . Unfortunately , this lipstick does not suit me ... i feel rather uncomfortable wearing it , although i have tried more intense colours . I think that its matte finish looks rather unflattering on me . I like more hydrating lipsticks better . For that reason , i wear it only as a base for another red lipstisk , because stays forever on the lips !
As for the price , i bought on sales for 11 euros - not too pricey for mac products .
