a great must have for anyone who loves to line their eyes....automatic soo no worries about sharpening....great color payoff...i have it in black...nice staying power...does rub off a bit....but very user friendly product...for on the go...or for easy touch ups thru out the day....good consistency too....may be the best drugstore eyeliner!!!

I don't usually write reviews but I have to chime in on this one - this is a great product and I've figured out the twist mechanism. You have to LIFT UP the shaft of the pencil (the front part that conceals and contains the rest of the eyeliner). This should create a small gap in the middle of the pencil where the shaft and the body meet. Then, start twisting the pencil but only twist up a SMALL AMOUNT because there's no way to twist back. After that, push down the shaft to revert the pencil back to normal. This secures the pencil and ensures no more product comes out.
Now, the product itself more than makes up for the weird packaging. I use it on both my upper and lower waterline and it doesn't smudge or run at all. I like using Midnight Master (deep intense black) for night looks and Coal Commander (less intense grey) during the day for a more subtle look. The lasting power is great and the application is super smooth. Will be repurchasing! continued >>

My favorite eyeliner is the Maybelline Master Drama Eyeliner. I love using this eyeliner! You can use it on your lash line and on your waterline! It's creamy so it'll glide right on your lash line, and it's super dark and pigmented, so it'll appear very nicely on the waterline. It's also long-lasting as well, and it's also twistable, so you don't have to sharpen it.
It comes in a nice range of colors. They have a black which is called Midnight Master (which is what I use), a brown called Bold Brown, a purple called Vibrant Violet, a blue called Saphire Strength, a gray called Coaled Commander, and a light gray (cement color) called Made of Steel. They cost around $5 at any drugstore, including Walmart and Target. :) I would definitely recommend checking them out!

This review is for the shade 'Midnight Master'
I agree with the reviewer below who said that you have to wind it up quite a few times at first to get the product out, and it is not retractable. After my first couple uses when I needed to wind it up some more, I noticed it wasn't coming out that easily - but I held it upside down and tapped the tube a bit and it came out fine.

It is very dark, smooth and creamy. I swatched it against the back of my hand in the evening, and even after a shower and multiple hand washings - it was still there in the morning! So it is definitely longwearing.

It applies very easily because of its creamy texture, which I appreciate and is very useful when you are applying liner on top of longwearing/stay in place/thick eyeshadows - a pencil usually cannot accomplish this task without looking too sheer.

My only issue with this pencil is that it only has the pointed tip once (when it's new). After you use it a few times, it turns into a flat top. Perhaps that's because of how I apply it - but it's a trade off with an automatic pencil since you don't have to sharpen it.

I haven't used it to create too thick of a line, just a thin-medium one. I haven't tried it on my waterline yet, but I will update when I do.

Thick and creamy and little difficult to remove. I bought this thinking I could replace my liquid liner (used for upper lids) but it looks pretty much the same as a "normal" twist liner--not nearly as smooth as liquid.
First...for those complaining that it won't twist up...the first time you twist it up, you have to twist it many times before it starts moving up. Also, once you twist it up, you can't twist it back down, just F.Y.I.
It's an *okay* eyeliner. Very creamy and pigmented (I have the black and the brown...don't like that the brown has shimmer in it thought). In a swatch test on the back of my hand, it performed GREAT, better than Estee Lauder Double Wear, and Urban Decay 24/7. I had to use baby oil to get it off. However, on the eyes it was a different story. This didn't last even half of the day before it started wearing away, especially towards the inner corners of my eye. (I don't line the water line, just upper and lower lashline). Revlon Colorstay still wins for me as far as staying power.
I was excited to try this product due to the positive reviews I've seen. I used it ONE TIME just on the outer corners of my eyes. The color was a good intense black but it did not last at all AND the next time I went to use it, I wanted to twist it up to get more product up and like many others on here it would NOT twist up!
Totally defective product! I contacted Maybelline about it and they are supposed to send me a refund.
I suggest you all contact them too if you had this problem so you can get your money back and also tell them how you feel about their faulty product. This is RIDICULOUS!

OK I love and hate this at times. I love the color. I got the black. Its great to make a dramatic bold line. It works well on the waterline which is a big plus for me. But there are times I want to make a thin line with it but the pencil and consistency if the product make it difficult. I wouldn't say this product last 24 hours but it lasts a good amount of time longest It on was 10 hrs of so and it didn't smudge to bad I'd say it was pretty light and significantly less than other liners I've tried in the past.I'm not sure If I will repurchase
I saw/read a few reviews on this product and decided to give it a shot. I got it at walmart for around 7 bucks, which is a bit higher than I usually pay for eyeliner. Unfortunately, it was not worth the money I spent. It didn't last more than a couple of months and the staying power wasn't all that great, either. I get better results from my $2 Jordana liner, to be honest. But I did like that this product didn't smear and give me raccoon eyes, like so many have in the past.
i really like this liner so far! i am not the best at putting on eyeliner, so i usually just use a black shadow &a liner brush. this product makes it a little easier for me because it's super creamy. it's very long lasting - great in my waterline. a nice &inexpensive liner that works for me.. will be repurchasing! continued >>
