Very heavy, very winter. I'm a J'Adore addict and thought I would love this too. I wasn't thoroughly disappointed, just not especially impressed. It's definitely a grown-up, date night, sexy scent. I don't know that I would wear this one to work. I sprayed this on my neck at ULTA, and the lasting power of this fragrance rivals every other one in the industry! I could still smell Addict on myself a good day and a half after I tested it. It smells very oriental and very dark (if that makes any sense). This reminds me of Victoria's Secret's Basic Instinct, which I think has been discontinued.

Oooo, one of my HG fragrances for sure. I think the reviewer below has described this perfume to a tee, but I will add a little extra.

Addict reminds me of a rogue lady sharpshooter in a dusty saloon or doing the you-know-what in a dimly-lit back alley of a big city. I guess this may not be appealing to some, but it is to me for those certain occasions. The scent is heavily intoxicating. I have been approached by both men and women asking me what I am wearing and saying they just love the scent. They key is to not over do it and to only dab it on your pulse points. I like that it is also a little sweet smelling and this adds femininity. It has taken me a few years to finish because I do not see it as an every day fragrance. However, the perfume actually smells a little better with age and the staying power is superb. I hope to purchase more during the Holiday season!

Let me begin to say that many of the reviews for this fragarance are humorous This fragarance tells a story, it is like one of those juicy romance novels. Let me begin to telling you the notes in this: mysore sandalwood, tonka bean, vanilla absolute, silk tree flower, mandarin leaf, orange blossom, night queen flower, bulgarian rose and bourbon. As you can see, there are notes in this that are sultry and smokey. With that said, this isn't an everyday kick around town perfume.
When I first purchased this, I liked it but it was way too strong for me and I got sick of it and it sat in my bathroom. A few months ago, I pulled it out and started to use it and now I wear this almost everyday. I can't stress this enough, only spritz sparingly!!! This is a strong perfume and it lasts all day! I was putting too much of this on before. What works for me, I spritz a cotton swab and dab the swab on my wrists and one dab on my neck. My goodness, this is such a sexy scent. I mean raunchy sexy. Most men I think will like this scent, it is a turn on scent that just puts you in the mood. In fact, I actually had a guy friend sniff me! I mean he put his nose on my neck and took in a big exaggerated sniff! I was like WTF dude, are you nuts! Now, this isn't a scent for teens! This is a very grown up scent and very heavy (wintery). This is a huge change for me since my HG fragrance in school was C&Evelyn's Summer Hill which is a white floral/grassy preppy scent! continued >>

I love this fragrance - it has been my signature fragrance for many years now. It is not a light fragrance but if used sparingly is a distinctive aroma that I enjoy. Don't let the name of the product keep you from enjoying the fragrance. The body creme is fantastic as well.

Dior Addict and I have a complicated relationship. When it first came out, "heroin addict-chic" was all the rage, which is appalling. I thought Dior Addict was playing into that inane craze and boycotted it on principal. I did sniff it, and at the time found it to be a thick, uninteresting fragrance. Note: I didn't like vanilla then.

Skip ahead a year or so. I read an article in which Dior company spokespeople discussed the "addict" issue. They had not, they insisted, ever meant to allude, participate in, or endorse heroin addict-chic. They had meant, an addict of Dior, i.e. a Dior addict. It was a funny.

So, not so very funny. Well, maybe a little bit funny. I re-sniffed the fragrance on general principles and fell in love. What did I love? -- at the time, it had the scent of green and vanilla somehow combined. Dry, floral, green, but with a sensuously layered dark vanilla. I got some edp but found it didn't seem to last. So, I explored the fragrance oil duplicates (which are amazing and spot on if you think of DA as green/vanilla), then got the parfum. I wore the heck out of this for a while then drifted...

I came back to this scent after about a year and lo and behold, it had turned into: 1) a VERY strongly-sillaged, long lasting fragrance (begging one to question whether the perception of it as weak was wrong and lead to exploded windows and aspyxiation in one's wake); 2) all about vanilla and a gorgeous incense drydown and base. The parfum was not different in character from the edp, except possibly a little sweeter. It went quickly into the vanilla, then incense phase for me, and was even more lovely than before. The frag oil dupes focused more on the vanillic green aspects but were still unusually good.

After a few wearings, one day I had a green/vanilla day. A few weeks later, an vanilla/incense day. So, at this point here's what I'll say: you'll get some combination of leaves, orangeblossom, tiny touch of lily, smoky and rich vanilla, smoke, spicy labdanum-based incense, sandalwood. This is a gorgeous fragrance. I'm not sure one need go to the parfum version to get the best of it, and the fragrance oils are great dupes and fun to use in baths, and in lotions. I wouldn't settle for just the dupe, but I'd use it as an extendor.

I like the fact that you can lock the cap so it won't spray everywhere if you travel. That was the only good thing about this fragrance for me. I am usually a vanilla freak, but this did not work with my body chemistry. I agree with some other reviewers that it smells "dirty". It is very strong--one spritz should be enough for a whole day. Just not for me.

This perfume has a great aroma, but clings to my nose hairs and gives me a headache. Has a slightly gourmand scent to it, like very strong cinnamon. Best when sprayed on just the wrists at an arm's length away, or else you will be too assaulting to the senses and people will be passing out from a mile away.
