This lipstick reminds me of a complex perfume: it's a little different on everyone, and just as certain fragrance notes may stand out on certain skin types, the different tones in this lipstick will be stronger or weaker depending on the wearer.
Saying this is a pink shade is about as useful and descriptive as calling a perfume "floral" - and I know Chanel does just that on their website, but IMO it doesn't do justice to this lipstick's tonality. On me (NW15), Mademoiselle pulls muted red with hints of coral and a touch of copper - a great balance for everyday. It has a warming effect on my complexion but is still low-key enough that I can make my eyes or cheeks the focal point of my look. Unlike most nude shades, this is pretty and interesting enough to work on its own without adding any additional color or drama elsewhere on the face.
I am really impressed with how long this lipstick lasts - I recently wore it for drinks with friends and the stain lasted through the end of the night. I do reach for Legende more often now, but this is a timeless shade that I can see myself wearing for years to come.
UPDATE: Can't remember if it is already in someone else's review, but I definitely agree that MAC Whirl is a great match for this lipstick.

I had a rough start with this lipstick but now I love it. When I first tried it it seemed to turn an unflattering brown-orange shade on me. I could fix that by lining with Chanel's Pink Sugar or even MAC Naked lipliner first. More recently, for some reason, when I apply without lipliner it looks exactly like the gorgeous shade in the ads. All I can think is that the color changes depending on something about me - like my pH at the time? In any case, I'm a big fan of this one now. I have several Rouge Cocos and love them all. My favorites are Mademoiselle, Gardenia, Camelia and Cambon. To me the scent of the RCs is more tolerable than the Rouge Allures, and the staying power of both RCs and RAs is much better than MAC lipsticks. I do find the RCs to be drying though, and I don't have that problem with any other lipstick I've tried. I just try not to wear them 2 days in a row for this reason. For reference I am a light NC15/Chantecaille Porcelain

I was wondering how this would look on a tanned Asian girl - needless to say, this adds INSTANT class and makes me look really sophisticated! I'm a huge lover of corals and I don't have many pinks in my lipstick collection but this is great for me. While I always use lipstick over lip balm, I retouch Mademoiselle after lunch, sans balm and it stays very well.
NOT the best staying power though because it is so creamy but the color is absolutely wonderful, I would definitely repurchase!

Lovely shade flattering almost any skintone (although I admit it shows better on paler skintones and little pigmented lips).
Just to make it clear, this is a rich, creamy rosey beige/brown, extremely pigmented, w/ a luxurious feeling upon application.
No coral here (I mention this as I saw "coral" being named in many reviews). Egerie is a coral not Mademoiselle!
I was lucky enough to be given a blister sample of this lipstick, that otherwise is sold out in all stores! i have for a good dozen applications ... yay! and it's a pity I will not be able to buy it again now (well, I hope they re-stock it, which is quite likely seen the rate of sales for this shade!!).
I was told this new Rouge Coco line is the replacement for Hydrabase that will be dicontinued, and I was a bit skeptical as that line (Hydrabase) was not famous for its longevity (i.e was wearing off in a few minutes and I did not like it at all).
I am pleased to discover that this Rouge Coco it still in perfect shape after 3,5 hours upon application, and I had a coffee and eaten a yogurt & an apple (well the apple was sliced so lips were...spared!). Very good lasting power, I am pleased. And the shade is Amazing.
Sophisticated, well there, elegant, feminine but understated and very appropriate for daywear (or for a lunch with your in-laws!!:o)
Go for it if you still find it at counters!

OK, I admit, I LOVE Chanel!
It was hard not to want to buy this lipstick based on the video of Mrs. Sparrow alone. So while I was at the Nordstrom Chanel counter today to refill my Vitalummiere foundation, I forced myself to check out only a couple of Coco Rouge that would give me this look without cheating by looking at the name and number. How exciting that it turned out to be the one! (Thank you, I can hear the applaluse.) :)
Lipstick is probably the product that is toughest to please me. But this does! Ok, first off, I'm fair to medium and fifty years old. "Coral" would not have come to mind, if I hadn't read the other reviews. To me it's a medium rose with a hint of brown. But I'm wearing a bright coral on my toes, and I don't see a big problem.
I like that it wears off well. Since I touched it up almost three hours ago I have had a McDonalds Snack Wrap, brushed my teeth and polished off most of a glass of Chardonnay. There is still a fair amount of pigment left, but not in that dryish way you get with some "long wearing" lipsticks. I want to put some more on right now, but I want to check out it's endurance. Which might require a little more vino, right?
IMO, it's fine for daytime/work. But it's not frumpy. It's pushing that limit. And for nightime it would be doing the same thing in reverse. Another Chanel superstar!

This colour is amazing. I love it completely. Have bought back ups because this is going to be a main stay in my collection.
The pigmentation is fantastic, and the colour really suits my complexion (I am Chinese with very pale skin). It doesn't look as pink as it does on Vanessa Paradis, but that's because my lips are incredibly pigmented. It looks more of a mauve for me, just a hint of rose. Love it.
I am a lipstick lover and I love corally toned shades so this shade was right up my alley. I would not call this a full blown coral - it's a rosey coral that is just the perfectly blended shade - it's got a bit of brown in it enough to make it not bright. I compared this to my Dior Creme De Gloss in Creamy rose - similar in tone, just Creamy Rose is a tad more cool. I also compare this to Estee Lauder in Tender Rose but that one is definatley more coral toned. I loved the pigmentation and creaminess of Mademoiselle (I have Pearl and Orchidee also and Mademoiselle is the creamiest of all of those). From swatches I thought Mademoiselle was going to be darker and browner - it ended up lighter on my lips, which was a good thing. You just need to try it! And I love this packaging definately more so than the Rouge Allures "click" packaging of which I had one that has gone bad so far.
This is easily my favorite lipstick ever... even though I don't really wear lipstick. I have been looking for something that's a bit coral pink, and I found this. This color is a beautiful rosy coral pink that looks good on my tan skin with yellow undertone. The texture is nice and creamy, not dry at all. The color fades after a few hours. I thought the lipstick is pricey, but it is high end and is worth its price. I would recommend this lipstick to everyone, but it really depends on the skintone, so I would recommend to try it out anyway before buying it.
Even though this a really nice color, it is a tad too cool toned for my warm, yellow toned complexion. The rose is like one tiniest shade too blue based from being a true neutral color. Warmer toned ladies might want to try this out first, and check it out in different lightings. I am NC30ish. To sum it up, I can wear this color, but it will not be a full 100% hit. Not like when I'm wearing corals/peaches/warm rose/warm browns/yellow based reds etc...Still a really nice color though :) La Pausa and Bel Respiro from this line suit me better. Will be checking out Orchidee next.

This is a very popular color in Chanel’s Rouge Coco collection. I feel in love with the color from the ads but could not find it in stores so I ordered it on line. Unfortunately, this color does not work well with my coloring. I have pigmented lips and am tan/olive skin. The color is a brownish coral which is a bit bright on me so not an easy color to wear. But what I really don’t like is the texture. It is dry, almost matt-looking which I do not like. I had read that it is a “sheer” color but I do not find it so, it seems quite thick when applied right out of the tube. If I pat it on with my finger like a stain and then use a l/g over it works, but not my go to color or l/s. I would not buy this l/s again. There are similar colors that I do like such as Nars- Success or Mac-Stay in Touch.
