I am still so impressed with this. This concealer has meant I don't have to wear foundation any more which has literally transformed my skin, I hardly ever break out now and my skin just feels so much more normal. I just dab it on imperfections and swipe it under my eyes, it's the perfect base. I'm sooooo happy with it :] no more searching for a HG foundation, this is it! (although it's not a foundation lol)
Wow, super impressed with this concealer!
Ok so I am only on day one of trying it out... but I dabbed it on imperfections this morning and for the first time in a LONG TIME I have not had to wear foundation today which feels amazing!
I am always trying to find products that don't break me out because I have sensitive skin and although I was slightly concerned in the store when I bought this (it was about 30 degrees and the air con was broken so the concealer looked a bit oily and I was thinking ughh this is going to make my face into a greaseball) but I'm pleasantly surprised - it's a lot drier than I first thought, not oily at all, which is good for me as I have combo skin. It is also SUPER PIGMENTED so you only need a tiny bit and I can see this lasting a long time.
I got NC20 (I have NC15 in the foundation but it's summer and I'm slightly tan so this seemed to work well) - NC15 in this is like, ghostly pale. I didn't like that shade at all. I don't think it would look natural unless you were super super fair.
I have tried quite a few other concealers and this one by far beats them all.
BIG THUMBS UP!
This concealer has good coverage but its so dry and cakey looking so it looks terrible on the skin because you can see where it has been applied.
I like this concealer but when I use it for under eye circles it does get cakey and creases in the lines under my eyes or on my eyelid. I started just using it for my face blemishes or to carve my eyebrows out and I am using the prolongwear liquid concealer, the one in the glass tube with the pump, it covers better and does not crease and good luck getting it off!
I like this concealer but I have tried better (Nars radient creamy concealer $28) but for $18 I'd say it's pretty good. This concealer has full coverage but can get really cakey and when I use it to conceal my bad under eye circles it made my under eyes seem a weird color. I think this is a good concealer, not great but it does the job. I won't be buying this again because it doesn't compare to the Nars concealer.
This was my first Mac concealer and I heard lots of good things about it, so I thought I'd give it a try. I had hopes this would be my HG concealer after trying so many. It's just alright... It wasn't worth the price. I love that it stays for a long time, but the coverage was just so-so for me. It covered some blemishes and scars but mostly left the area looking dark and not covered. I wish it had more pigment! I'm in shade nc15, and it's even a little to dark. I went o get matched at the Mac counter and I dont know if they had a kighter shade... Is there an nc10? 'll stick to my coastal scents concealer.
only mac concealer I have tried but I love it! covers blemishes perfectly but sometimes creases undereyes, gives very good coverage and lasts! definatly worth the price
After trying several low and high end concealers, I have to say that Studio Finish works the best for me. While I am willing to spend more money for concealer than for other makeup items, I found that so many concealers creased, caked and otherwise made my under eye area look worse than nothing at all. At 54, my under eye area has started to bag, and is noticeably darker than before. I also have rosacea and melasma which gives me blotches on my cheeks and nose and demarcation marks at the jawline, so a good concealer is high on my list of needs.
I experimented with several ways of using Studio Finish, based on other reviewers concerns about creasing and caking. No matter what I did the concealer did not crease for me, but several attempts looked pretty cakey (I'm talking under eye area now). I finally settled on using my Q10 sensitive moisturizer first (a very small amount) and using my fingers to roll the concealer on my under eye area. It looked great! I used the same technique to my lids, and continued to have wonderful results. If you can get your technique right, and don't layer too much under or over the concealer it looks much more natural than any concealer that I've tried in the past. I'm very pleased, and will continue to buy this wonderful product.
EDIT: I had a rosacea flare up today, and experimented with different makeup combinations: Colorstay whipped, various powders, various concealers. Later in the day, I finally washed everything of started again by doing only two things: Eucerin Q10 anti wrinkle cream, followed by Studio Finish on my ENTIRE face (I rolled it on with my finger). It's the best that my face has looked in a long time--will continue with these very minimal two steps! Very happy.
Update: I have started using Studio Finish ALL OVER my face everday, and it makes a huge difference--I feel like a regular member of the public now, instead of the red-face person that everything thought was a drunk. I roll it on the skin with my finger, which uses very little product but covers like you wouldn't believe. A slight dusting of powder over, followed by ELF setting spray and I am good to go. I am so pleased.
MAC Studio Finish was the first concealer I ever bought and it is the one of the only things I continuously repurchase because I love it so much. Studio Finish comes in a little plastic pot with a clear flip top lid that snaps in place. It is $22 CAD for 7 g / 0.24 oz at MAC. It is creamy and incredibly opaque. When I first bought this, I was 15 and extremely acne prone and my face was zit city. This has never made me break out and it has never failed to cover up anything I need it to. I'm now 23 and still adore this stuff for covering up redness and the occasional zit, as well as some dark hyperpigmentation. My skin has always scarred very easily from acne, and on top of that, the scars will ALWAYS turn into extremely dark brown spots on my skin which take forever to go away. This concealer has no problem covering those spots. This also covers red, active acne very well and completely covers redness around my nose and cheeks. I've also used this on my neck when I had accidentally burnt myself with my curling iron! This is very high coverage and blends and layers beautifully.
I personally do not like applying anything with my fingers, so I use either a small synthetic detailer brush and/or a fluffy but slightly dense blending brush (like the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush or MAC 224) to apply it, depending on what I'm covering up. I just dip the brush in the pot and I have no difficulty blending it out on my skin. I am an NC35 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid so I use this most often in NC35, but I also own it in NC30 and NW30 to mix with depending on where I am applying it and the time of year. I don't usually use anything on my undereye area, but if I do, I use this with a fluffier brush. I can totally see why people don't like it for undereyes though, it is not a moist formula at all. I also love putting this below and even above my browbone to clean up my brow area. This lasts ALL DAY on me and I have super oily but also dehydrated skin. I have fallen asleep with this on and it stays. I have been out in rain and snow and this stays. I have been out in the super humid and scorching Toronto summers and this stays. You get the picture. Another wonderful thing about this foundation is that because it is so opaque, you don't use a lot and it lasts for ages! Each pot lasts me about a year, so the price doesn't bother me at all. I only end up repurchasing before it's completely done because I get paranoid about germs. The only issue I sometimes have with it is that if I get oily in parts where I have concealed (ie. chin or around nose) it will start to look almost creased but it's easily fixed with a finger. It doesn't happen all the time, and it seems to happen with certain liquid foundations I use. This concealer also plays well under or on top of powders. IME it doesn't really flashback in photos, even with the SPF, but I do blend it out very well. I seriously hope MAC never discontinues this stuff because I have been using it for so long that I don't know what I'd do without it! This is an excellent concealer and it is my HG for sure.
A nice concealer that works well. Has a creamy texture that is easy to bland. I use it for blemishes and red areas on my skin. Normally no powder is required unless I am having really oily skin days.
I have warm light-medium skin tone and use the product in shade NW20. It can be bit too light for me for the summer months though.
My favourite concealer!. I use nw15 which matches my skin tone perfectly and is just perfect for covering dark circles. This really does cover spots and scars very well and I find it lasts all day underneath my BM matte foundation, it doesn't cake on me and I have very oily skin at the moment. You do only need to use a small amount and as a huge plus I found that applying a little all over my eyelid and up to the brow made a great eyeshadow primer and gave a clean base to apply too.
