Great foundation/powder. I use it over my MAC face and body foundation or other thinner foundations if i want slightly more coverage, or use it with tinted moisturizer because i don't feel like tinted moisturizer gives any coverage at all.
but be careful when you apply it, it can look cakey if you put too much, i would say one swipe for each part of your face is good. dont forget to moisturize before putting this on.
it comes with a sponge applicator but i use a large fluffy brush from Sigma for this product. i dont think sponge is good for this, fluffy brush will apply it more evenly and not make it look cakey. definitely a must have for me and will continue to repurchase.
i still love their loose powder, but they discontinued it already. this product is ok. but after 6 hours. my face gets oily. im still using it though.
in response to Sfs08,
I also had the same problem.
I started wearing this product a couple of years ago, and the one thing I liked about this product was the "3-year" expiry date!
After 1 year, I started to realized that my skin reacted to this product, no matter how many times I changed the cosmetic sponge or wash/shampoo my make up brushes, my face broke out. Then, during the holidays, my face cleared up, and I realized this product was contributing to my break outs.
I have not used this product since, instead use liquid makeup (but only 1 layer).
This has been my HG foundation for years and I will ALWAYS come back to it. It works the best on moisturized skin that is flake free. Very build able for full coverage.
Not great for touch ups though. If you wear this I would suggest a blot powder for oil control.
I do enjoy the coverage of this product and I wish I could use it but it breaks me out horribly! I'm talking big cystic acne, almost positive it's the powder. Does anyone else have this problem?
I used this powder for years and it covers absolutely flawlessly but the 1000% dupe is Australis round pressed powders :) exactly the same, different brand 1/4 the price !
This is a really great product to wear over bb cream or concealer, or to add over foundation for extra coverage. It has good coverage and is very mattifying, great for oily girls like me. It doesn't have an annoying scent, it feels smooth and fine and goes on the same way. It looks nice on the skin but don't go over board or it will get chalky. My friend gifted this to me after I tried and loved hers, I use it to set my makeup and pack it in my bag for touchups. Im pretty fair and i believe my shade is NW20 (I got it in the summer).
I have extremely oily skin and a couple of blacks spots on my cheeks. I use this as a setting powder over my Colorstay foundation and my face looks flawless. Great coverage and matte stating power. Never has it been cakey.
I really love the idea of this- a quick all- in- one. I really love the colour of it- nc30 is lovely and pretty and fresh and yellowy. I really love the mega easy full coverage of it.
But it goes cakey after a couple of hours, no matter how apply it, unless i use only a very sheer layer, but i need more coverage than that. It's easy to fix tho.
And sometimes my skin cant tolerate it and i break out. I don't know why I can use it sometimes and not others. There was a time when this was my only foundation for about 4 years, and i didn't get any breakouts. After taking a break from it for a couple of years, then coming back to it, my skin can't decide whether it likes it or not.
Another thing, it does clog pores as it is heavy feeling, so I have to do face masks more often.
And it does make me more oily than other foundations but I don't mind that.
I do, however, mind the high transfer!
It makes an excellent not- too- matte setting powder over foundation, whilst adding a little more coverage.
All in all, i do like it, and have already repurchased about 10 times over the years, and will probably continue to do so.
I've repurchased this product several times. I have oily/combination skin and my skin is extremely prone to acne.
I would say the downside to this product is my paranoia about anything touching the powder itself. I feel as though, for the same reason you shouldnt put a brush directly into a bottle of foundation, you shouldn't put a brush onto the powder directly..onto your face..and then back into the powder. But, hey.
Anyway so, the every day washing of my brush is a nuisance and also ensuring that with one solid and heavy handed sweep inside the powder i get enough to set my foundation (which, due to the intense pigmentation i do) so that i don't have to double-dip. Also the applicator it comes with is also pointless as it's faaaaaaarrrrr too cakey using it.
BUTTTTTT that being said, I'm super oily, have the potential to be super spotty if i'm not careful and make-up and my face generally just don't get along. I find this product, if used moderately (use it as more of a setting powder than a foundation) is wonderful! It's mattifying, even's everything out nicely. Cover's the areas that perhaps your foundation couldn't even with just a light amount and hasn't broken me out before.
I also like applying this specifically under my eyes and in the crevices between my nose and eyes because it's got a really good coverage and magic happens.
