Purchased a Dome Z palette for my mineralized eye shadows and mac blushes. These are the only palettes that have the depth to hold the depotted Mac mineralized eye shadows. I fit three mineralized shadows, 4 mac blushes, one mineralized skin finish blush and a regular sized shadow pan with room for a couple more regular eyeshadow pans. It came with the magnets and hold very well. The Mac mineralized blush needed 2 magnets to hold it in. Minus 1 lippie for this palette because there is no mechanism to keep it closed. Pricey item @ $25.00, but there is no other alternative for these particular shadows.

If you're an expert at depotting and have zero damage while removing the eye shadows from their packaging then by all means this is for you. As for me, I watched several youtube videos, read blog posts, and still ended up with cracked and damaged eye shadows which I had to repress but still ended up with a lot of wasted product. I regret depotting big time.
The packaging itself is flimsy, this is not something you can throw in your bag and feel confident that it's secure. It's made of card board and the plastic cover is not something I'd call heavy duty. I could've easily saved my money and used a cd cover to put my eye shadows in.
The only thing I can say that's good about the z palette is that it keeps all your eye shadows in one place and makes your makeup drawer clutter free. I will not be repurchasing or depotting any more expensive cosmetics.

Zpalettes are not perfect, but they are the best of what is out there now, and I do love them. Once you figure out the best method of depotting for you, it is great to have everything in one place. Plus, I like the clear window to the shadows, as it makes it easy to find (and USE) everything. In an ideal world, I would love a sturdy hard plastic case with a clear plastic lid. Finally, I love how they don't force you to be married to one brand/product type, and instead create what works for you -- I am looking at you MAC.

PROS:
- Easy to use
- Various sizes available
- Super cute packaging - though I do buy only the black cause I am lame
- Clear top, so you can see your product
- Space saving! This cannot be understated

CONS:
- Expensive for what is in effect cardboard, plastic and some magnets - someone is going to knock these off soon, I am sure - I feel like a fair price for the large should be about $10-14
- You have to play with the magnet stickers a bit to make sure they are on. I found that placing them on the pan before the melted glue dried worked the best.
- They are not the most sturdy - I wouldn't just throw one in my purse or travel case - again - this is why a hard plastic version would be ideal

A NOTE ON DEPOTTING AND PLACING MAGNET STICKERS ON PANS:
- Oven method - I find this to be superior to all other methods - pre-heat oven to 250 degrees F, line a bake sheet with aluminum foil, place product with case open on foil covered sheet, pop in oven for 5 minutes, remove from oven and using cuticle scissors pop product out of case.
- Added bonus #1 of oven method - you can peel sticker off back of shadow case with a tweezer - I cut out the brand and color name and placed on magnet for reference
- Added bonus #2 of oven method - glue will be liquified, and you can use that in your favor to really make the magnets stick
- Added bonus #3 of oven method - the house does not smell like burnt plastic
- To really make the magnets stick to pans, I take all the depotted shadows with magnets on, lay on a cutting board, and place a couple heavy books on them. I then stick that into the fridge for 10 minutes

I bought 3 z palettes during the black Friday sale and I love them. I have cut in half the size of my makeup bag. The z palettes are very well made also. I had bought a couple off of etsy from book of shadows, but they fell apart in 2 weeks. that is why I waited to do this review. I am over a month in and they look brand new. I would highly recommend to every woman to try these out.

i'm glad i have my z palettes - they're so space saving and my makeup now looks like a 'collection' which seriously gratifies my inner neat freak ... BUT i'm amazed that other reviewers talk about throwing them in their handbags ... i wouldn't expect them to last 5 minutes if i did that. plus the clear screen - which seems to be some kind of nylon - scratches really easily, and attracts hair and fluff like a b**** making it harder to keep clean than my phone ;-)

imo these are fragile cardboard palettes that need to sit quietly in a drawer ;-) and i would buy them again, but only for that purpose. for travelling they're going to have to go in a robust plastic pouch.

I am a professional makeup artist and these palettes are on my top 5 must have list. They have slimmed down what I carry on shoots so much. I have about 15 zpalettes that I normally carry with me and they are awesome. I have everything color coded so I can access them easily, plus if I forget, I can just look in the palette without opening it. They work great with Urban Decay and MAC makeups, that is mainly what I use.

I bought two large zpalettes and a pro palette about 2 months ago. I wanted to use them for a while before I wrote a review on them. I have used other palettes in the past such as the MAC pro and the Unii palette, but I can say hands down I would buy and recommend the zpalette. I dropped my unii palette and it broke, spilling my makeup everywhere. The MAC pro palette was just too limiting. Maybe if everything I owned was MAC it could work, but I have makeup from like 6 different companies. These are great palettes, they are slim and you can take them anywhere.

I just got my large purple Z Palette and I LOVE it! The quality is really great - It's really sturdy. I put all of my mac shadows in it and now I have so much more room in my makeup bag. It's nice having all of my colors in one place. I'm going to order more for my blushes and oother makeup. The clear window is especially nice since I plan on having more than one. I'm traveling soon and these palettes will be perfect and save a lot of space.

i have these in large, and i'm really happy with them. there are a few cons, which i'll cover, but overall, this is a great idea. the storage concept is amazing, because you can literally depot ANYTHING that comes in a pan, whatever shape, size or type. this will not only save you space, but will force you to actually manage and use up the make-up you have because it's right there in front of you, instead of hidden and scattered around in clunky packaging. secondly, the palettes come with metal stickers which are extremely useful for pans that aren't magnetised eg. depotted MAC shadows. for reference, the large palettes fit in 28 MAC pans if you squeeze them in a tiny bit. let me tell you, my make-up time in the morning has reduced by exactly 10mins from having all my MAC colours in front of me instead of playing around with all the little identical pots!
now i want to get on to how this palette performs and the cons. firstly, i feel that the magnet in this palette is extremely strong. (i bought mine off ebay - i know the magnetising quality has recently been improved over the last few years. maybe there are still old ones floating around online.) and the metal stickers they provide literally stick like superglue, as well as magnetised pans (i haven't used a pre-magnetised mac pro refill pan yet in these though, but i'm sure they'll be fine.) and the palettes stay very firmly closed due to the magnetised closure. now on to a few problems. though the metal stickers adhere beautifully to the palettes, the non-magnetised pans can actually slide off them. but i'll give you some tips and tricks for this problem.
1st: make sure the pan is free of too much old glue, as the lumpiness can be uneven and not stick. (you can buy glue remover off ebay)
2nd: try to stack the palettes laid down instead of stacked sideways, that way, the pans won't have any gravity to fall against. this tip is also useful in general as a precaution for there being no divider.
3rd: buy some spare stickers off the z palette website, if you need to replace any and have for spare.
lastly, packaging loses one mark also for cardboard borders instead of plastic, so keep these away from water. though i must admit, it does give it more of a DIY feel.
i would also feel confident to travel with these, if they were really nicely lain in my bag, but if i'm actually flying abroad or something, then i would honestly just pop my most-used in a mac 4-pan palette.
most definitely give these a go!

Just received the large leopard, large hot pink, and small hot pink Z Palettes. I love them! I fit 2 UD Naked Palettes, 2 Stila palettes, and created my own lipstick palette with the empty pans they also sell. I am finally using the makeup I would forget about!! It's so nice to have a clean makeup bag with a lot more room now that I got rid of all the packaging. And surprisingly depotting was not as hard as I thought. The Z Palette facebook page has a lot of good tips and pictures that were very inspiring.

I haven't traveled with these babies yet but I do not forsee any problems. I feel the quality is very sturdy and the window is thick. Plus I love that the top part bends underneath.
