Point Black would be my favorite liner of all time if it wasn't for the packaging. The unwieldy long-cap and longer applicator combo make this a nightmare to apply more often than not. Prepare to constantly wipe your wand and the brush tip to get the gunk off. Because of this, the product often dries out and/or gets all gunky.
When you can get it to work, this product is AMAZING. No smudging, flaking, etc. Stays where you put it, period. Comes off easily with oil, but withstands the eyes' natural oils, heat, humidity, tears, you name it. I've fallen asleep in this and woken up without a single particle out of place, even if I slept with company. The formula is that spot on.
Unfortunately, this product consistently gunks up on me within two weeks of use, regardless of whether or not I use it with primer and/or eye shadow. After three tubes of this product, I've had to give up on it.
This product has lasted me for quite a good while. It's very pigmented, very rich in its dark colour and it's smudge-proof. Honestly, I have such oily lids and this holds up so well even without eye primer (I don't own an eye primer -yet)! That's very impressive. I also remember accidentally falling asleep with my liner -oops- and I woke up with not even a tinge of smudge! The only problem I have with this is the the brush it comes with! Omg, it sucks! It gets too clumpy so you will need to really clean it frequently. Other than the brush, I love everything about this but I do want to branch out and try a gel line, specifically MAC Fluidline.
I love love love this liner. My HG for sure. The only downside is the applicator, which can be messy and get on your eyelashes. I'm on my second tube now though and I've adapted because the lasting power. I have to use coconut oil to get this stuff off, and that is the way I like it. Will purchase again forever unless I find something better.
i have a love/hate relationship w/ this product. i have extremely oily skin, so when wearing eyeliner just after a few hours my eyeliner will transfer to the top of my lids. i stumbled upon this product after searching for long lasting/water proof eyeliner on youtube. i must say that this stuff does last all day (even after a shower or even till the next day, gross i know lol), i have to scrub really hard w/ olive oil or any oil based product just to remove it. one problem i have w/ it is the shape of the brush. it's so thin and narrow and so hard to work with...maybe its just me? but eventually i got the hang of it. my biggest concern is that it clumps up really bad inside the tube. i have tons of product left inside but i end up needing to buy a new one just after a few months, simply because the product clumps up really bad in there =/ i'd still repurchase considering how well it works
My HG eyeliner. This eyeliner would not budge! You can swim, shower or wash you face with it and it won't even run. This eyeliner will stand up to anything! Love Love Love it!
My HG eyeliner. I have been using this eyeliner for pretty much 6+ years, and it is the only constant in my makeup bag. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can compare to it when it comes to quality. It doesn't smudge, doesn't cake, doesn't flake; I've been swimming with it and it just doesn't come off. No matter the weather or humidity, this thing is staying on.
The days when I use liners other than this (usually because I'm in a rush and pencil liners are quicker), I always end up with those raccoon eyes by the end of the day.
The packaging is very simple, and I really appreciate just how compact and no-nonsense it is. The brush may take a few tries to get used to, but it works very well and became second nature to apply with. The color is very pigmented and a true black. Even over a ton of eyeshadow, it will not cake. I also line my upper waterline with this, and it stays put up there all day.
The only thing about this is that you're going to require a makeup remover that can actually get this thing off. I've always used oil cleansers, so it was no big deal, but definitely have something on hand that can wipe this off at the end of the day or suffer permanent eyeliner. In a pinch, gently rub your eyes with some moisturizer at the end of the day and hope it gets it off.
The price is certainly nothing to sneeze at (especially someone like me who likes a thick line daily, sometimes twice when I'm redoing my makeup for night, and goes through liner very quickly), but you do get a very good amount before it starts thickening and drying out towards the end of its life.
This is pretty much the only thing in my makeup kit that I'm positive will always stay there, and if MAC ever discontinued this I will suffer a slight beauty breakdown.
The Mac Liquidlast is now my HG eyeliner! And trust me when I say I've tried MANY, MANY eyeliners! It is the most long lasting eyeliner I've ever used, it is probably the closest thing you can get to having budge-proof eyeliner without tattooing them on. It is decently priced, about $20, which is about how much most name brand eyeliners cost. I was introduced to Mac Liquidlast by my roommate about a year ago, she swears by this eyeliner because you seriously need to scrub the sh*t out of your eyes with cleansing oil to get this stuff off. It is totally waterproof, meaning: crying-proof, sweating-proof, swimming-proof...etc. You can even sleep in this stuff and it will look exactly the same as when you put it on the day before. With all that said, I wasn't really a big fan of it when I first started using it. Why? Because the brush that it comes with suck! It is literally the worst eyeliner brush I have ever used in my life. I could not for the life of me get the eyeliner to go on my eye lids instead of all over my lashes. So I would only use this eyeliner very carefully and slowly when I had a ton of time to get ready before I went out. I have tried countless other brands of eyeliners from liquid to gel, from cheap drugstore eyeliners to the more high end brands like Marc Jacobs, to try and find one with the same amount of staying power- but I've found nothing that even remotely compared to Mac Liquidlast. All of this went on until yesterday when I finally realized: "why don't I just use a different brush for this eyeliner?! Duh!" I haven't done that before because it would be inconvenient and annoying for me to carry around an extra eyeliner brush/brush cleaner in my purse. So I decided to take the cap/brush from my Almay I-Color liquid eyeliner and put it on my Mac eyeliner since they have the same size opening at the top. I just tried it today and wow it works like 20 times better now. The only thing is that the Almay brush is a little shorter so I might need to use another brush anyway when the eyeliner starts running out. But for now it's perfect!
This is my favourite eyeliner. It does not smudge or move no matter how long it is left on for without reapplying. Although it is not simple to apply, once you get the hang out if it is perfect for creating a dark night look. Although it is slightly pricey, it lasts a long time and is well worth it.
Tried this upon super raves & recommendations for my super oily lids.
#1 - I really, really hate shopping at MAC for anything. Those "associates"...but whatever, that doesn't affect the product :P
#2 - it's goopy to the point where you wonder if it's going bad. (don't worry tho, it's prob not)
#3 - dislike the brush, it was difficult to get winged ends to "flick" nicely
#4 - staying power didn't impress. I found a Japanese discount eyeliner that stays just as long, with a better brush. $1.50 vs $20? No contest.
Overall, I guess it's got better staying power than others and my alternative isn't really fair to others who don't have access to the Japanese discount store. So, if you're willing to dish out the $20 and perhaps use a different brush to apply it, I'd say it's worth a shot.
My excitement when they finally brought this back to the MAC stores! GOSH had discontinued their liner as well, and I thought I would be stuck attempting to find dupes for the rest of my life.
- Lasts forever!
- Does not move off my waterline or bottom lashline.
- The brush tip is great to maneuver for wings. I prefer brush tip over felt tip as it is.
- This liner does have a slightly 'goopy' texture, especially if you do not finish this within an allotted time. I have found this to be the experience with every version of the liner.
- When it gets on your lashes, if you do not declump or comb it out immediately, it may gather or clump your lashes together.
- If you smudge this or make an error, you may have to remove your makeup because it is literally budge proof after it sets.
While it seems there are longer and more cons than the pros, I still feel that the fact that it does not smudge, is more than enough for me to continue repurchasing.
