This is not a primer to use every day, as overuse can result in a pH shift in your skin, which you do not want. Use this 3x per week, maximum, just to be safe. Also, make sure to patch test to check for irritation.
That being said, I find that when I use MoM as a primer under my foundation, it helps lock my makeup on all day, without separating or settling into pores. I've got quite an oily skin, and until discovering this (thanks Wayne Goss!), I had trouble keeping my foundation looking fresh for more than an hour.
I use a small amount and lightly spread it over my entire face (avoiding my undereye area) with a cotton pad. I don't use enough to leave a white film. When this sinks in, it should be totally clear. After applying, I give it a moment to dry, and then I apply my foundation. For me, this works best with my Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation for an all-day fresh look.
Make sure to get the plain, unflavored MoM. I found mine in the digestive aid section of Target for about a buck. Huge bottle, too. This should last me a while, or at least until the expiry date.
If you've got an oily skin and have trouble keeping your foundation from looking greasy and separated by the day's end, this may be the ticket for you, provided you take heed and do not overuse it. (I did overuse it my first week, and HOOBOY, it was a bad breakout that ensued!)

This product is dangerous for your skin. According to the pH system, your skin is more acidic than alkaline. Milk of Magnesia is HIGHLY ALKALINE, and in turn, is destroying your skin in the long run. DO NOT USE THIS ON YOUR FACE OR BODY!!!!!!! Please ladies, the last thing you need to be worrying about is skin issues, it's better to be oily than wrinkly and spotted.

By far the only product that has helped keep my face matte. My nose is stubborn of course. It'll be oily no matter what precaution I use. Unfortunately, this product broke me out. Thank goodness for my retin-a because my face is back to normal. I don't think using MOM everyday is good for the skin- at least in my case. I rather have oily skin than zits on my face. Nonetheless, it really helps in keeping the face matte.

Having worked in the industry for a while and having no luck with any store bought primer for oily skin, this product has changed my cosmetics life! I have never written a review for anything but I am so absolutely amazed with this product I feel like the whole world should know.

I have super oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin but have to wear makeup from morning to night going from school to work with full coverage, full face, all the time. I have tried many mattifying primers (mac, Becca, Cover Fx, Chanel, Smashbox, Dior, Too faced, benefit, etc), all of which have never been able to control my oil and hold my makeup in place without giving me some sort of adverse skin reaction (dryness, itching, peeling etc.) until i tried this bad boy.

I had heard about using this product in the past from other MUAs I work with but I was afraid of getting the breakouts that many had experienced after using it.I finally tried it, I have been using it for just over 3 weeks now and I am never ever going back! With any other primer my makeup eventually starts to break up and separate after about the 4th hour of wear and continues to slide of my face throughout the rest of my day with my repeated blotting and touch ups!!! (super annoying!)

Because I was afraid of getting a breakout from over drying my skin, which this product defiantly does, I ended up purchasing the mint flavoured one, which having sucrose as an ingredient not found in the original formula, does not completely dry out my skin or give me a fully matte look right away. Instead of turning white like many over drying primers, this one stays moist and keeps my face from looking super dry and crusty at the end of my sometimes 16 hour days.

I make sure to prep my skin fully with a few drops of argan oil and some laura mercier radiance primer (yessss you read that correctly, even though Im extremely oily!) to avoid over drying and thus removing the possibility of my skin over producing oil to compensate which could lead to pimples. then I apply this product all over my face with a flat foundation brush that i use only for primer in a very light layer all over so my face is moist but not drenched. (These specifics may seem a bit extreme but again I didn't want to take any chances with my skin). Then I apply my many layers of makeup and voila!-My face remains perfect all day long! Once I get home I make sure to give my skin the attention it needs again for using something not meant to be used in this way by making sure to exfoliate regularly, cleanse properly (deep clean), fully remove makeup (wipes + eye makeup remover), and most importantly moisturize!

No.... unfortunately no. It does almost nothing for me. It doesn't make my skin any less oily than if I don't use it. Sadly this just doesn't work for me..... wish it did !

I got a travel size of Milk of Magnesia some years ago, when I first got into makeup primers, because it seemed a good and cheap product to try to make my skin more matte in the summer. As I was just getting into foundation primers, this seemed a wonderful alternative to pricier products laden with chemicals. Sadly, this didn't work for me. It kept my t-zone matte for a very short time but at the cost of looking like a ghost. It just didn't work.

I've used this for a bit over two weeks and was very impressed with the oil-control. Today was the first day I did my regular make-up routine without it, and I can tell a difference!!!! My face is slick and my pores are actually more visible. My skin also doesn't feel as soft. For the record, I wash my wash, use AC (as a toner), apply a tea tree oil/grapeseed oil mix (as a serum), then moisturizer, sunscreen, and finally m.o.m. I hadn't realized how much face product I use.... After that I put on a primer and then foundation as normal. :) I use a cotton ball to apply m.o.m. and use it all over my face.

I decided to try this to help keep my foundation in place & to help w/ oxidization. It worked really well for both & i liked how smoothe my skin looked when i primed with mom. It kept my foundation in place in the most extreme environments...high heat, humidity, sweat, oil from job, & kept my foundation from rubbing off or transferring. It also really helped w/oxidization (which is a huge problem for me) The reason i rated it so low is because after
about a week of use ia had the worst breakout of my i quit using mom & my breakout cleared up. I only use it once in a while now when i feel absolutely necessary because every time i use it i break out. I really wish mom worked for me as ive never used a primer that worked better, definitely worth using if your skin tolerates it.

OMG! Yes to the MU Gods for providing this miracle! I have combination skin which becomes an oil rig in my T-zone, especially my nose. Huge pores, which I never quite noticed BEFORE I began my quest to becoming a MUA. My skin would look flawless after my routine makeup application and that would last about, hmmmm, an hour before the oil demons started to seep through and start wrecking havoc. But TODAY, all that has changed! Yes Gawd! I saw about 4 youtube reviews from a variety of skin tones swearing by this product. I was like, hmmmm, a laxative huh? Yeah, right. YEAH, RIGHT IS RIGHT! Stop reading this and go to your nearest drugstore and scoop you up a bottle! I did not oil up once in 9 hours and it was extremely hot today, not humid but hot. Okay, time to turn up the ante, I purposely went on a extreme cleansing binge which was guaranteed to make me sweat, I turned my bathroom into a steam room and came out a mattified queen! I could not believe it! I did read some ph reviews on this product, so I don't think I'll use it each and every day but for the most part, its a keeper. Get it! They trust you to ingest it, why not apply it to your face and stay beautiful! BTW, this is my first official review on MUA, so thank you for letting me rant! xoxo Anji Ray
