I have recommended this to friends who have drier skin than me. It dies a grat job, and leaves a dewey finish, but it broke me out badly....think I'd have to wash my face again after using it.
I use it occasionally to rub into my scalp before hairwashing...as it resembles one of their products for that purposr.

I really wanted this to work with my skin because it makes removing makeup so easy. It does an excellent job of taking off makeup, but it made me break out really badly. I hadn't changed anything else in my routine, so this was the only thing. I also tried it a few different times and had the same result. Luckily I only bought the sample size. I now use Albolene to remove my makeup and it hasn't caused me any problems. It is also cheaper and comes with more product.

This is one of my favorite cleansing oils. I think it emulsifies really well with warm water, removes makeup well, and rinses off my face leaving my skin feeling clean but supple, not stripped the way soap does. I stopped using this so I could buy the shu uemera purifying cleansing oil and that was a big mistake. The shu oil feels greasy in comparison and clogs my pores. There are still a few others I want to try before I go back to DHC, but I really like this one.

While I like that it's natural and fragrance-free, the texture of the oil is too thick for my liking... It seemed harder to emulsify as compared to Fancl or Shu Uemura's... Overall it does a great job at removing makeup even though I find that I do have to rub it longer on my face to remove my waterproof mascara than the other cleansing oils. I took 1 lippie off because I think somehow the olive oil ingredient disagree with my skin I tend to break out a lil'. I will not repurchase cos I've tried better ones.

I just bought a small bottle of this ($12) after rave reviews from a co-worker. Wow - do I love this! I have super sensitive, rosacea, combination/oily skin that's acne-prone. (Yep, I'm a lucky girl.) I've done the oil-cleansing method before and liked it, but couldn't take the oily residue in my sink, shower & washcloths. Was I ever shocked; this has ZERO oily residue!
At night I use two pumps on dry hands/face as directed, then massage well for a minute or two to dissolve all oil, makeup, mascara, etc. It feels very oily, so imagine the surprise when it washes away squeaky clean with water only! No makeup left at all on my white washcloth. Crazy, huh? In the morning I use just one pump, since there's not much real "cleaning" to do.
I've used this only a few days, but my skin is responding really well already. I was suffering with a nasty rosacea flare-up, and the itch & burn seemed to escalate no matter what I did. Then I started this stuff. The weeping dried up overnight, and the inflammation is almost gone. Will absolutely reorder! I see a love affair beginning. :)

I requested a catalog from DHC so that I could try a number of samples of their bestsellers, including this oil cleanser. It was a tiny packet, but I was able to use it for two nights. Having tried Softymo, I will compare DHC against that cleanser (you can see my review of Softymo in my profile). In a nutshell, DHC has a more natural, subdued olive oil scent and it rinses cleaner (less "film" residue on the face). However, DHC also leaves my face feeling more "squeaky," and I can see how others can claim that it is drying over time. Since I got two uses out of the sample, I can't comment on that, but I can say that given the price difference, and the fact that I am just as happy with Softymo, I will be sticking with Softymo.

I absolutely cannot live without this product! I've been using this for years and always have at least 2 backups. If I have 1 backup left, I freak out. I'm probably on my 7th bottle. I know there are other oil cleansers out there but I find that this one gives you more bang for your buck. I find a lot of cheaper oil cleansers contain mineral oils and cannot be used around the eye area. DHC does not contain mineral oil, safe around the eyes, and does not burn the eyes. I just think oil cleansers are far more superior in cleansing compare to cream cleansers and makeup remover wipes. Because the product is runny and thin, it can get into the nooks and crannies on the face. Whereas a cream product is too thick and it doesn't dissolve in water like this oil cleanser. Makeup remover wipes stresses the skin too much because you have to use friction on your face to remove the makeup. Using this I can go to bed at night worry free knowing that all traces of my makeup is gone. Although, the instructions doesn't tell you to follow up with another cleanser after using the oil, I do think it is very important to use a gentle foamy cleanser. I wear a lot long wear makeup and often times a lot of makeup too, and this cleanser does the job. 1 bottle lasts me a long time, each time I use about 1.5 pumps for my entire face. I wish DHC can come out with refillable packs like they do with the body soap.

on my 2nd bottle of this stuff! takes everything off really well and very easily. no need for separate eye makeup remover. and best of all for the sake of your skin - NO heavy duty rubbing! decent value for money too, i think! oh, and natural!

Okay, so I have never written a review here before but this oil is just too amazing to not rave about!
I too was skeptical at the all the hype and the "oil cleansing" method, but after just one use..oh my god...I AM A CONVERT FOR LIFE!!
DHC cleansing oil takes off every single bit of makeup whilst leaving my skin non-irritated and soft - I love it and will purchase when I run out!

This product is better than makeup remover wipes because it doesn't irritate or scratch your skin. Removes makeup easily and smells good. Love this product. :-)

This takes every bit of makeup off my face effortlessly! It's pretty expensive for a makeup remover, and the bottle went kinda quick. The only reason I won't be repurchasing is because it's just easier to use $3 makeup wipes from the Dollar Store which I don't have to order online, AND are easier to travel with. The bottle doesn't have a lock on it, so I gave the packaging a 4. Overall, it does everything it says but I would rather spend my $$$ on makeup! Lol.

This will now be always part of my skincare regimen and will definitely repurchase. This saves me so much time as I no longer need to use make up remover wipes and then cleansing wash etc etc. I apply this directly onto dry face and rub it all over, I then wash my face with water and it removes every trace of make up even stubborn mascara. I know that it works as I use a toner from time to time and there is no trace of make up on the cotton pad (unlike prior to using this). It is quite expensive but it is definitely worth it.

This product is a saving grace! How many times have I tried to use straight olive oil from the food pantry or something that claims to be a really great makeup remover solution, only to be disappointed or frustrated that it will not rinse off? I couldn't even count. I was also afraid that this wouldn't simply rinse off with water. It is completely water soluble, so only apply to a dry face with dry hands. You will be amazed and appreciative that this stuff exists!

One of my staple items. I have quite a few eye makeup removers (Lancome and Neutrogena being a few of my favorites). But this one is REALLY good too. The Lancome and Neutrogena I use when I'm using a cotton swab. When I want to wash my eye makeup over the sink I use this. Put it on DRY (with dry hands) and gently rub your eyes. Within a few seconds it has ALL come off (trust me) - then rinse off with water and that's it. No oily residue left behind AT ALL! If I was wearing A TON of eye makeup I may have to go in with a q-tip just to touch up under my lower lash line, but that's only on days when I do a super smokey eye.
You can definitely use this for the rest of your face and I do that sometimes too. But I prefer a foaming cleanser with my Clarisonic for that. Either way, whether you use this as a facial cleanser or to just remove your eye makeup - you'll love it! I hate when something gets rave reviews and then it lets me down, but this was the one exception that really surprised me. DHC sells smaller bottles so get that if you want to try it out first.

words cannot describe how much i love this cleansing oil! i was skeptical at first (wash my face with an oil??) but holy cats, am i glad i tried it! surprizingly enough, it has cleared up my adult acne better than any other non prescription product i've ever used,it removes all my makeup, rinses clean and leaves my skin smooth as a baby's butt! I can even skip moisturizer when I use this. If you've ever been curious, TRY THIS!! it will soon become a favorite that you won't want to live without!

good stuff, I've been using this cleansing oil for almost 3 years and so far i have no problem with it. i have acne-prone skin and this oil doesn't break me out and it removes all my makeup(except my waterproof mascara but that's another story since it's MJ mascara)nicely. so overall i def. recommend this cleansing oil since it's very mild and doesn't leave behind any residue plus it's kinda moisturizing too =)

I had heard a lot of buzz about this, but it wasn't until I got a sample that I finally understood what everyone was saying. This is an awesome product. I tried it two ways. One way just as the package states and apply it to dry skin and then rinse with water. I also tried mixing it with water so it turned milky. I preferred the first way. I think it did a better job although it feels funny to use oil on dry skin. I loved how this got all of my makeup off or if I had no makeup on how it gently cleansed. This goes a long way that I think the cost would be worth it. I would defintely purchase this in the future to use.

I really love this product, use it almost every single day. I originally bought this because the foundation I was using (Revlon ColorStay) was almost impossible to get of. I use this product to clean of my face makeup and it's definitally the best product I've ever just for that purpose.
It gets all the makeup of, but without drying me skin! And it's really easy to get off as you only need water, trully amazing!

You could totally use this on it's own as it gets of all your makeup - especially if your just using mineral makeup. When I'm wearing heavy makeup (such as the Revlon one) I usually use a facewash or a toner efter the DHC, just so that I know every little bit of makeup is gone. I have a bit of sensitive skin and I'm acne pron but I haven't had any reaction to this product.
It's a bit pricier than I would like but it's fairly long lasting and for such an amazing product it's definitally worth the money. Will definitally buy this again when I run out.

I've been using this oil for years (maybe 5-6?) to remove my makeup at night. I have normal but sensitive skin and I tolerate this cleansing oil well. It removes all of my makeup pretty easily although I have to rub it in a little more to remove liquid eyeliners or some mascaras.
I think the price is fair because one bottle of this lasts me a long time. I use 2 pumps to clean my entire face. I rub the oil between my hands a little first so it doesn't run down my wrists.
I follow this with DHC's CoQ10 toner before applying my AHAs and moisturizer.
The smell doesn't bother me. I'd rather it smell like olive oil than be strongly scented. I like that it is non-irritating. This matters a lot to me since my skin is getting more sensitive as I get older.
The pump bottle is convenient but I wish it was more opaque because I'm concerned that light may affect the product.

A co-worker gave me a sample of this so I used it last night. I loved the way it removed my makeup. My face felt so clean and soft. Having never used an oil cleanser before, I assumed it would make it feel oily but didn't. I also had a sample of the eye cream and decided to use it on my entire face. Anyway, I had the beginnings of two small pimples and when I woke up this morning they were nowhere to be seen! I have a little more of the samples left so will use again tonight. If I have more good results, I may have to splurge!
