About me: NW13-20 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), dark gray- blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW/DSPW.
A cool toned orange?? Is this POSSIBLE?
Okay... maybe not cool toned per se, but cool toned gals can wear this one : ) I love to use it both as a lipstick (with a nude eye) or a under eye corrector - works well when lightly applied to cancel out blue under eye circles. Gorgeous color, the only orange lipstick I need.
I'm sorry, y'all are going to thumb me down for this one because I can see that everyone loves this lippie. I'm not a fan. Nothing to do with the quality or consistency, but mainly because it just isn't that orange on me due to the red undertones. It looks orange if you take a picture of it in the light, but aside from that it's red. A good, creamy consistency but again, this lipstick costs $40 where I live and just isn't worth it. I ended up finding a better orange lippie for $13.
Packaging: MAC Morange comes in the typical MAC lipstick packaging, which is simple and sleek. Cute but not extravagant. If you're even reading this review, you probably know what a MAC lipstick's packaging looks like.
Pigmentation: It is a beautiful bright orange color, definitely not for the faint of heart! When I say bright, I definitely mean BRIGHT. It's suitable for all skin tone's that are brave enough to wear it! The pigmentation of this lipstick is quite impressive. I can usually do one or two swipes to cover my lips completely even thought they are pigmented. I would say that the pigmentation of this product is very solid, especially since it's an amplified creme finish.
Longevity: As a lipstick, this lasts on my lips through eating and drinking for about 2-3 hours without a lip liner. I do find this lipstick to be a little drying, which does increase the longevity. If you moisturize/exfoliate your lips regularly, this shouldn't be an issue. You should DEFINITELY use a lip balm before applying this lipstick though. With a lip liner, MAC Morange obviously has a better wear and increased longevity.
Price: I've been using this product all Spring and Summer and it has been the lipstick that I've used the most often this year. Because of the pigmentation, finish, and longevity, I find that I still have around 75% of the product remaining, which is surprising because I often use it as a blush! The retail price of this lipstick is currently $15, which isn't too much IMO. It's lasted me for about 6 months now so I would say that the price is extremely fair.
Overall: This is the MAC lipstick that I have worn the most this year. The color is beautiful, although it is slightly drying on my lips, but this can definitely be remedied by a lip treatment or balm. Whenever I wear this lipstick, I get compliments. If you want to walk into a room and demand attention, Morange is definitely for you. I will absolutely be repurchasing this lipstick if and when I run out.
Recommended Products: I would recommend using either MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in What A Blast! ($19.50) with this lipstick or NYX Slim Lip Liner in Orange ($4) for a cheaper alternative.
The Makeup artist actually tried to discourage me from getting this product because of my darkskin tone but when I put it on she was absolutely blown away at how beautiful it was! ;) This is seriously an orange for EVERYONE! I love how fun and bright it is and it will definitely get you noticed!
One of my favorite MAC lipsticks! So bright, so fun, soooo sassy! You will be noticed when you wear this. It is a great summer lipstick....really a great anytime lipstick. I have bought this more than once and will keep buying it when I run out. I love the look of red lipstick, but for some reason have never felt like it looks really great on me, especially blue-based reds. I find that orange lipsticks look fabulous on me and has the same striking effect, but with a bit more sass than sex....but I am more sass than sex. lol
Highly recommend checking this out. Would look fabulous at the beach with little makeup or at a party. Love to wear this on days I just want to feel like a sassafras! lol :)
Despite being a bright orange lipstick, Morange goes well with my cool-neutral skintone. Out of all of MAC's orange lipsticks, Morange is the coolest-leaning. It lost a star because the color feathers after a few hours of wear, but overall the color is comfortable, long wearing, and unique.
Bold summer or spring lipstick. Orange is a very flattering colour with a tan (I never have a tan,i'm very fair but i guess it would be better with a tan). I sometimes pair it with beet lipliner, to get a different effect. It's not an everyday colour but if you want a bold lip, get morange.
Don't underestimate the beauty of morange. Morange was a random, but very lucky purchase for me. I saw it from the corner of my eye and thought 'hahaha who would wear that colour' ... i tried it on.. and to my amazement. it looked awesome!
I have always been a fan of out there colours, so morange isn't for those who prefer to be subtle. For me, it's a bright, neon orange. It stands out and makes the lips look big and luscious. I wear it just with my usual makeup, which includes lots of eyeliner and blush, and it completes the look and is perfect for EVERY occasion, i even find it perfect to wear to uni. Don't be shy, this is one amazing colour, which you should try on! Would definitely purchase again, one of my all time favourites :)
i really love morange because it's suitable for all ages and normally i dont really go with orange but this is just amazing. a must buy <3 love itt
This is my first MAC as I am more NARS and Laura Mercier girl. Plus, MAC is terribly drying.
I wanted an orange lipstick that is not reddish orange because I already have that in NARS Heat Wave and Yojiya 11L (which is my HG! LOVE!).
I was contemplating between NARS Red Square, this and MAC Lady Danger.
Morange is orange with more yellow than red and hardly any blue. So on the wrong skin, this will look clownish. Heck when I tried to pack on the colours, even I thought I look clownish.
2 coats and this looks really great on my darker asian skin. However, I seems to leave an even liner stain after eating and drinking. Not sure if it's the application or maybe I should leave a gap between my lips and skin.
Also, it applies very unevenly straight from the bullet. Some part of the lips, I couldn't even get colour to stay at all. I found that I get the best result using a lip brush.
Leaves a slight tint after a few hours. Still good.
My lips are dark-ish so the orange turns out a little more red than it would on others so I guess that's why Morange is still acceptable on me.
Plus, MAC is the cheapest choice.
I chose this because.... (the rest explains the reason for Morange and impromtu swatch as seen in pic, nothing much on the product itself).
Now thing is I love my Yojiya 11L orangey red, perfect for my medium olive skin. But I am venturing out of my comfort zone (and I cannot travel to Japan everytime I need Yojiya products!).
So armed with my Yojiya I went into Sephora and tested out the said colours.
Ultimately I chose Morange because this is the most orange and furthest from my HG (means lest red). NARS Red Square is almost the same colour as Yojiya 11L in matte. So no go there. I also feel there will be wastage when I sharpen Red Square.
In my swatch, I threw in YSL and NARS Heat Wave (which I own and feel it has more blue than Yojiya 11L but still looks orangey red on most people).
I forgot what number YSL is in but I just swatched it cause I walked past the counter. It is so moisturising!
Finally, I think I am not a big fan of MAC because I really don't think there's much to shout about in terms of quality. I still feel NARS and Laura Mercier is above par.
