The Nivea made in Germany is an excellent all-over moisturizer. I use it day and night, after the shower, on face, hands, feet, everywhere. I found it searching for a dupe for Crème de la Mer-- this is what comes up on searches. It nearly the same base as CdlM, without the algae extract and astronomical price.
I bought Nivea in a tub (which I normally do not like) for very little; I will repurchase it in tubes, which I like better (even if a bit more expensive).
I have super-dry skin and rosacea, and Nivea soothes. moisturizes, and just feels great on my face. Has a luxurious feel to it and a nice fragrance. Not convinced? Tiny tubs of it are available for about $2 (I bought one for travel). Be sure you are buying Nivea Creme made in Germany; it is superior to the cremes made in Mexico or Thailand.

I guess good ol' Nivea Cream (or Creme) appears in several areas on the board. I reviewed this old standby the other day and figured I'd repost my review in this area as well, so here goes....

In my city, there is a wonderful German grocery/deli/assorted odds and sods small chain of stores that carries wonderful skin and body care products from Germany. It's where I get my Gehwol foot care products, Ombra creams, 4711 eau de cologne and many other terrific items including Nivea Cream made in Germany. My mom and my aunties used Nivea religiously when I was a kid, swearing it was every bit as good as the costly creams from Estee Lauder. Well, in many ways they were absolutely right.

I don't know if there is or isn't a difference between this cream made in N. America and the one made in Germany but this rich, thick cream with the familiar scent that is unchanged from my childhood, is a great multipurpose product. I use it on my dry, cracked feet, slip on some socks and wake up in the morning with much softer feet. When my knees get rough (sport, gardening, yoga), on goes the Nivea and away goes the roughness. I use this on my neck and decolletage area with great results. In winter, when my skin is particularly parched-feeling, I'll warm the product in my hands (it is thick and I don't fancy rubbing it in vigorously on my face) and apply. Even my 19 year old son likes using this when his face is dry and chapped.

Don't get me wrong - this would never be my "go to" night or day cream but when my face needs it, it does the trick. And it's great for any other parts of you that get really dry, chapped and rough. I'll even smooth some over my hair if I've applied it to my hands - the residue smoothed over rough, winter-dried hair gives a nice bit of smoothness!

I liked the consistency, it is thick. It goes on white, but rubs to clear. It has a pleasant smell, and lasts a long time. It was recommended by my physician.

Brilliant for dry skin. The only moisturiser that really works for me.

I just picked up some from my local big w (200ml) for $8-$9?and noticed its made in Germany (apparently its the best one) my grandmother and my mum used it and when she saw I got this she was ecstatic! I love this classic cream and will continue to use this until the stop making this stuff lol.even though I have oily skin I still use the stuff I just adjust the amount I use on different body parts eg: only alittle on the face,a lot on the legs etc.i like the plastic tub super easy to use and the smell is oh so Devine!

This is a classic that we always have in our bathroom. It's a lovely thick and soothing cream with the traditional scent. It can be a little hard to rub in but is deeply moisturising. I find this too oily for my face but great for dry patches. It's particularly useful for sunburn and I've even used it as a nourishing face mask. Just put on a thick layer and leave it then wipe off with a warm flannel. A great basic.

I got this in the tube i think that's a new thing because i always remembered the tin but this says it's the original. I am apt to believe it because it is that wonderful thick cream that I remember as a kid. I have the Mexico version but I read the German ingredients and the only difference is some of the ingredients are in different order but they are the exact same ingredients. I guess whatever order they are must make a difference I don't know because I have used both the German and Mexican and honestly I can't see the difference. Maybe that's just me but I like this cream a lot.

I got it for X-Mas in the tube which I think came out because the jar can be not to everyone's liking. I love this stuff the Winter here in NY has been very cold and drying to the skin. As a Retin user I needed something that would really hydrate me and this does the job on my face really well with no breakouts yet. I have been using it since X-mas so I think for me it's safe to say it does not break me out.

It gets rid of any flakes and leaves my skin soft and supple. It almost feels like I can use it as a face primer. It reminds me of how my Clarins primer feels so I will give that a try. I have been using coconut oil on my body but I want to get the tub of it for my body and keep the tube for my face. I have to say I feared mineral oil as well and I don't know but I have super sensitive skin and I'm amazed that it hasn't broke me out!
I highly recommend this for dry winter skin and there are other uses as well but I think this is a must have staple if you have really cold weather. Also you can get a little tin so you really don't have much to lose.

I bought this cream as a no fuss moisturiser for my fiancé, to whom I suggested to start a basic skincare regimen (cleansing and hydrating!). Even without any attention, his skin is soft and supple, and only occasionally breaks out with hardly noticeable whiteheads.

I've noticed this cream has received a lot of rave reviews from consumers, and I can see why. It is very moisturising, and my skin feels smooth and glows with a slight sheen afterwards. I don't use it regularly (only now and then, as it lives on the bathroom counter of my fiance's house), so I can't really comment on long term efficacy.

Another plus is that it doesn't cause my sensitive skin to react.

One issue that I have with the cream, however, is it's texture. It's incredibly thick and hard to smear on the body. I had to rub quite vigorously, and expend quite a lot of time, to let it sink into the skin. This might not be such a bad thing, as the massage was probably good for my skin's circulation! ;) But perhaps not so great when I'm in a hurry for university or a date.

The scent is not my cup of tea. It's a bit soapy. I prefer fresher, more organic scents (or perhaps Aesop has spoilt me).

The price is, of course, excellent. The packaging does not inspire a sense of luxury, but it's no fuss, and does the job.

Would I purchase again? I know I picked "yes" but to be honest, I'm not sure. I don't doubt it's effectiveness, but I like a moisturising regimen that is a bit more indulgent, to bring a specialness (or me time) to my days. For that reason alone, I'd like to try Aesop's Geranium Body Balm first.

I'm a bit silly like that, sometimes lovely packaging and exquisite scents are as important to me as the potency of a product.

I believe that Nivea Creme would work a charm for very dry skin. I like that it is suitable for the whole family - the women, the men and the children.

I use this moisturizer in the morning after I get out of the shower. I spread it on my cheeks and around my mouth, where my skin gets the driest. Others have mentioned that this moisturizer is thick...that is an understatement. I feel like I am spreading a very thick Elmer's glue on my face. That being said, it did wonders to my face. I am yet another acne-prone girl whose face breaks out at the mere mention of moisturizer (which in fact it has done with each moisturizer I've tried). Not only has Nivea not broken me out, it has evened out my skin tone and made my face smooth and wrinkle-free! It leaves a bit of a sheen on your face, but it doesn't look bad, in my opinion.

Love Nivea creme, been using this since I was 13. It immediately healed my acne when I was a teen and kept my skin from flaking. I love this product! I use it mainly on my undereye area, applying lightly on the face and neck because it is so thick. I use this in the winter mainly when it is cold and dry outside, as a night cream, and when I have been sunbathing. It works well as a cold cream/makeup remover as well.

I wish they would make a travel size!
