Amazing straighteners. If you think that because it doesn't get as hot as other flat iron the results won't look as good, then you are completely wrong. In fact, it's the complete opposite. These ones glide through my hair like no other straightener ever did. I am so happy of my purchase, my hair never looked this good.
PS: It's not AS expensive as so many people claim it is. I mean, I got mine from a UK authorized reseller (you can check sites on the ghd website) and the prices were cheaper, international delivery included, than I thought they would be (around 94£).

Absolutely the best straightener ever. Yes, it is very expensive but it makes my hair so silky and smooth. I've had mine for over 2 years now and I am still so in love with it.

Best straightener. Insanely expensive for a straightener though......

I purchased my first GHD back mid-2006 and, after using it 2+ times every week ever since, it sadly started to die (the heat would cut out and make a 'sizzling' electrical noise from inside the actual straightener).
So I purchased a new one expecting the same results as the original. What a disappointment. I cannot believe GHD have gone backwards. I used to be able to pass my GHD through a section of hair just once for a perfectly sleek section of hair, now with my new GHD I have to go over the same section 4 or 5 times to get a remotely straightened section, but nothing like the original. My hair gets frizzy much more quickly which I never had a problem with before the new model.
I am positive the temperature has been lowered on the new models, I've read up on the GHD website and they say it is because it doesn't need to be any hotter. GHD, I don't know who your product developers are but they are wrong. You have lost a devotee in me and I will not hesitate to let anyone on the market for a new straightener know that GHD's are definitely not what they used to be.
I used a laser thermometer on both my new GHD-straightened section of hair as well as directly onto the plate, the hair only heated up to 58 degrees celcius, the plate only heated to 160 degrees celcius. Unfortunately when I went to test my original GHD's temperature, it no longer worked but I am positive it would have heated much hotter.

GHD will need to do a pretty massive marketing campaign if they ever decide to revert back to the quality of their original model, because by the sounds of it they are losing a lot of original customers.

Overall this is a decent straightener heats up quick, has auto shut off and does a decent job of straightening but for 240 it's not that great no temp adjustment feels pretty cheap and works for 2 yrs on average and i take vey good care of it I'm on my second one..good thing they have a good warranty.. Would I buy another? No I will look for a better one..

I don’t understand the hype over this flat iron. Several reviews had me convinced this was the iron for me ~ ‘no burnt smell left on the hair’ (wrong); ‘all it takes is one or two passes to completely straighten my hair’ (try four or five); ‘my hair stays straight all day and night, even after sleeping on it’ (nope); ‘this leaves my hair so shiny’ (really?). . . you get the idea. All of the magical things this iron apparently does for the masses, it does NOT do for my hair. Furthermore, I found this iron to have a cheap, low-quality feel while using it. (And yes, the one I bought was authentic and it came from a GHD-authorized retailer – I did NOT get an imitation.) I recently got a Sultra Seductress from folica.com (in fact, I participated in their recycling program and traded in my GHD to get $40 off.) I’ve only used the Sultra once, but already I can tell you it feels and handles the way a high-end, fancy-schmancy flat iron should feel . . . and it has 3 temperature settings. (I knew going in that the GHD did not hav a temperature control, but all of their marketing BS about how it “knows” what temperature your hair needs and adjusts itself accordingly had me intrigued. Sucker.) I gave it two lippies because it DOES heat up quickly, has an auto-off feature, and allowed me to curl my hair rather than merely straighten it ~ but the results were still not that dazzling (when you consider the cost of this guy). For those of you who love this iron and find it to be the HG of flat irons, I’m happy for you ~ truly, I am.

Purchased my GHDs 4-5 months ago after recommendation from my hairdresser for an easy way to create volume/curls on my fine and sometimes limp hair. I absolutely love them - curling is so easy and if you use the GHD thermal curl hold spray they actually hold all day and your hair is protected from the heat. Hopefully these will last me a while but I would definately re-purchase in the future....:)

Best flat iron i have ever purchased- well worth the money. Leaves hair silky smooth. Straightens hair very well, I only have to go over a section of hair once. Also, I love love love this for curling. Super easy to get bouncy waves and curls. I personally don't mind that the heat isnt adjustable. I always use the highest heat setting available because I don't see the point in using a lower setting and then having to go over your hair multiple times. Love this way more than my last flat iron (CHI).

This is a great iron EXCEPT for the fact that you cannot adjust the temperature and I wanted to warn others before you buy, I did not
know this and had to return it for one that you could adjust. I have
fine thin hair and my hair just could not take the consistent high heat.
Be warned but if your hair can take the heat, then it's great!
There are great deals on Ebay, mine is getting sold there since
I can no longer use. Great price, check it out. $125 vs the $225 I paid for it 6 mths ago on Folica.
Hope this helps all !

I have had my GHD for over 6 years now and its still going strong and I have been in looooove with it since day one! Ceramic hair tools have been proven to be the best in terms of protection of your locks and also at providing even heat distribution to style better.
Straighteners kinda do the same job in all honesty, some just quicker to use then others. GHD's add shine to my hair as well as protecting it as much as possible with its ceramic plates. I ALWAYS recommend using hair oil and thermal protector when styling hair with hot tools.
One thing though about the brand, I have known people who had bought one in 2010-11 and it actually burnt their hair out of their scalp causing hair loss but customer service responded immediately and provided refunds and have since never heard of such a thing from friends who bought one recently. There are many different versions of this as well like animal prints and a range of colours as well which makes me a bit jealous as I just have the plain ol' black one, not to worry :P
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!
