This review is for the Extra Strength version.
In a nutshell, it works very well and does not irritate my sensitive skin in the least.
It's not really "extra strength" because if you have dark brows you can easily leave this stuff on for 10 minutes without over-bleaching. That said, I'd rather have it the way it is than not.
Compared to similar products, the price is quite reasonable and you get a good amount of quality product for your money.
A definite repurchase.
This stuff is great for lightening brows! I had been wanting to try this for months since I started gradually highlighting my hair from the dark dark brown shade it naturally is to the dark blonde/light brown "bronde" it is now. My hairstylist wouldn't tint my brows herself. They are black and she assured me that they would turn orange and look unpleasant so I rocked the light hair/black brow look for almost a year or tried to use makeup that left me more costumey and pasty than natural looking and then finally decided to take the plunge and try this product since it was on sale for $4 a box. I figured I could just use eye makeup if things went drastically wrong and my stylist told me they grow out in 4-6 weeks anyways.
After watching multiple YouTube videos for the product, I followed the box instructions and did first the patch test on my inner elbow, then did my brows. I figured this product wouldn't lighten my brows very well or fast since they are so dark and others had complained about that but it did and quickly! The only tip I have is to check the color often since mine lightened to the shade I wanted in about 4 minutes. (Oddly I also had to leave it on 1 brow an additional 2 minutes to get to the same shade.) The color is what I would describe as a pretty soft light brown with a hint of warmth. The warmth is not that noticeable unless you get up close in the mirror and it complements my lighter hair very, very well. It is not at all like the dreaded orange that I was afraid of. My hubby says it looks awesome and he was surprised since he told me not to do it. If mine turned out so good I'm sure others with black brows will too. My head hair pulls warm like crazy when I lighten it and has to be toned to the cooler, beige blonde/light brown I have, so I thought for sure that I would not get the right tone but I did and believe me, I am a beginner in the beauty field.
I've been wanting to try full on medium beigey blonde for YEARS and now I really think I can take the plunge and make it look natural (I'm caucasian with light skin but very dark brown hair and brown eyes). This looks about a billion times better than the dark brows or makeup-caked brows I was sporting before. People actually think this is my natural color and since I'm pale I really love the lighter hair against my skin tone since my natural color tends to wash me out so much. I also love how there is so much of the product left and I can get many months of use out of this before it gets old and needs tossed. This would have cost me $10 every 6 weeks in the salon, now I'm looking at about $4 every 6 months. Glad I did this and did it myself.
Also, I will note that I had just finished a long course of accutane about a month before I did this and I had no problems with skin irritation or burns or hair loss or any of that other junk that people also caution against. In fact, I did great with this product. It didn't even tingle on my skin or bother me at all. No redness, nothing. I did however go around my brows with Cetaphil cream mouisterizer before I put it on so maybe that helped. Good luck and I believe this product will certainly be very helpful to most people looking to lighten their eyebrows from home.
I love this stuff!!! I have no idea why I didn't buy this earlier especially during my middle school and high school days. As a young Asian women, I suffered the dreaded lady-stach.....black hair.....it was awful! I knew my mom would not take me to get it waxed saying "oh it will just grow back and be darker!! We would be continually spending money! You look fine!" So I FINALLY took matters in my own hand and finally got this! And it works wonders! My dark hair immediately turned this nice very light blonde sort of shade....basically invisible! I was very pleased with the results and will continue to use it! Only down side...the amount of stuff for the activator is smaller I comparison to the bleach. It runs out quicker! But overall, GREAT PRODUCT if you wanna solve that lady mustache!!
I'm a natural blond so the hairs of my arms, legs even eyelashes are blond but during a sleepover a stupid stupid girl put us some shaving cream and she put it on my right arm and removed a lot of hair, as it started to grow i noticed it was kinda brown it wasn't black but next to my blond hairs and pale skin they stood out so i decided i would bleach that part of my arm and when i put it it started itching really bad i thought it was like that but it was almost painful so i immediately took it off and i realized my skin was red i started washing my arm and i noticed it had bleached my skin, i had an even paler huge spot on my arm and i don't know if my skin will go back to normal. :(
I have been purchasing this product for a year now. It bleaches hair well within minutes. It is quite easy to mix and apply too. My only problem is there isn't very much product in the package. I would've like a bigger container of the cream activator, as it always seems to be running out far too soon.
Basically two things stood out to me in this product. Main Pro: It worked very nicely. Main Con: It hurt.
I did a patch test on arm before and all I felt was a bit of tingling. But when I applied it to my face it began to sting. At first I was like "Eh. It stings a little." But after a while, I was like "Stupid timer. Go off already." It stung really badly for me. But I still kept it on. I was desperate for this to work and disguised my dark mustache. I was always teased about being a girl and having more hair than a boy, so yes I was pretty desperate. I thought it was going to irritate me after I took it off due to the stinging, but once the timer went off for 8 minutes, I washed it with cold water right away and felt immediately better. Overall, it worked it really well, my lady mustache was completely disguised and almost invisible. The hair was also really soft after.
Worked really well. Everything I hoped for.
It stung. pretty badly.
Nice almond smell, but when applying, very strong chemical smell that made my eyes water and gave me a headache.
Again it stung.
It may seem like there were more cons, but it worked. And that's what i wanted. It could just be that I'm sensitive to this. It just hurts on my face though. Despite the pain, I do recommend this to anyone to is looking for an alternate way of removing hair.
I have dark arm hair and pale skin - not the look I'm going for. I even tried shaving my arms once which just left them scratchy and stubbly until the hair finally grew back out. Stubbly arms are even grosser than hairy arms!
So I tried this stuff on a whim when I couldn't find the Jolene's bleach that I used to use. This stuff works like a charm.
First, I use a cotton ball to apply the pre-conditioner that comes in the box. Then I mix up 10 mls of activator with 20 mls of the creme bleach stuff (for a total of 30 mls). At first it is very liquidy, but then as you apply it, it turns into this cool foamy texture. I leave it on for 12-15 minutes and WOW, my gross dark hair magically turns into adorable little white blonde hairs! It makes my skin look tanner too, because there isn't such a contrast between the hair and skin.
PROS: cheap, easy, totally lightens dark hair
CONS: after the first few minutes on, this stuff starts to itch. Seriously it does not feel good. But beauty is pain. I do think it stings less than Jolene's though, and it works better too IMO.
I have been using this since 9th grade, and I anticipate that I will never be without it! Why torture yourself with waxing or threading the upper lip? That hair for most of us is soft, thin, short, and not noticeable except for the color so just bleach it! This kit works perfectly, is extremely easy to use, affordable, lasts me a good year, doesn't fall off the face easily like other brands I've tried, is virtually painless (it just may start to tingle near the end), and overall it just does what it claims to do. It may lighten the actual skin (not just the hair) a teeny bit, but it goes away after a day or two and will only be noticeable to you anyway. Highly recommended, a staple for me.
It works! Love it! REmember to patch test!
Review before and after results here http://prettyhair22.blogspot.co.uk/
I started using Sally Hansen hair removing and bleaching products around the age of 16. I noticed about a year ago that the area of my upper lip that I used to bleach is now discolored. It is way whiter than the rest of my skin and very embarrassing. My makeup won't even stay on it! I pay extra attention when applying makeup there but nothing helps, the makeup just disappears from that area through out the day. I want to warn you guys to be careful using these products and pay close attention to your skin color! I'm not sure if it was the cream remover or bleach that caused this. I stick to just waxing! It is faster and last way longer. Good luck !
