Age: 30-35 Skin: Combination, Tan, Not Sure Hair: Black, Other, Other Eyes: Brown

I recently purchased Melansol Natural sunscreen SPF 20 from www. puresunscreen.com Having started to use sunscreen late (when i turned 30), I should say i have used so many sunscreens/ blocks in the past 5 years. I am an Indian with brown skin and get freckles and moles pretty easily especially in mountaineous areas.
Chemical sunscreens made my skin itch and sensitive. Physical sunscreens were either sticky (dermatone) or made my skin look grey and ashy. Tried low end to high end products including the recent buy of NIA 24 mineral sunscreen..Result : more damaged skin.. I was better off without sunscreen i guess.
Out of desparation researched and found Melansol (the natural sunscreen formula is patented as given in a website). It has interesting ingredients of which is Biomelanin. I also found that Lancester products have sunscreens with the same ingredient.
So far, this is the only one whch has not given any kind of irritation to my face and body. It serves as a great moisturizer (list of ingredients is great..for updated info please see the website indicated above). It starts off with a light white cast on my skin and then my skin is SO NORMAL. I am amazed to find it non-oily as well as non-dry. I have been using it for sometime and i should say i feel good about my skin, no doubts.
I will update this review after i am done with summer 2009..need to see how it works in strong sun.
Thanks for your time!
UPDATE 1 : It is real winter and i did find a little change with my sunscreen. As i have not done anything new to my regimen. This sunscreen can make your skin feel/ look oily. I am trying to use it sparingly. I am takin gone lippie off. I still feel the ingredients are worth trying than the usual chemical sunscreens. Will update in Mar/Apr to see how it can actually wade off freckles and sunburns.

UPDATE 2 (Jan 2009) : Oh well, i thought i will update about this sunscreen in summer but i had to write this before anyone wants to purchase it.
For some time, the product didnt give any problem. i have a simple skincare regimen off late with virtually no makeup to place my complain about. I think after a while, product itself separates like oil and a thick brownish white goop (brown because it is tinted), so the mixture is uneven and i dont know how effectively to use it. I feel very sad..I have to continue to search for a good sunscreen. I have lost hope. Tried neutrogena, olay moisturizer with spf, la roche posay , i turned greyish :-(, . i am thinking of trying keys solar which had good reviews plus ingredients. I dont know when my search will stop. Right now am using olay moisturizer with spf 15, doesnt do anything..especially the freckles coming on very fast on sides of my face. Please let me know if anyone has any idea about a physical sunscreen/block for a medium-dark brown indian skin..i dont want a white/ greyish cast on my face.

Age: 30-35 Skin: Normal, Fair-Medium, Not Sure Hair: Brown, Other, Other Eyes: Brown

I always wanted to use one product instead of 4: primer, moisturiser, antioxidant and sunscreen - since my mornings are usually hectic. I tried several products including Almay Regimen Moisturizer SPF 15 with grapeseed, Coppertone Ultra Sheer Faces SPF 30 with retinol, Dove's Energy Glow Brightening Moisturizer with SPF 15 and few others. These are all above average products, and my skin never complained, but my eyes used to hurt if this stuff got anywhere around them. Coppertone's smell is not very appealing too, and Dove is too glittery. But again, my skin was fine with these products, never broke out or anything, so I thought I was happy. Lately, I heard rumors about this company in Florida that makes all-natural-absolutely-no-chemicals sunscreen that also actually improves skin, and thought I had to give it a try. Now, I'm not going back to the products I used before (and since I have some of them left, I'll just use them on my body). Although people who talked about MelanSol and raved about how wonderful it feels were still complaining about the smell, I actually liked the smell: a very natural and fresh. Too bad it disappears about 20 minutes after application. The sunscreen has Bio-Melanin in it's ingredients, which is a very powerful antioxidant, Mineral Pigments, Green Tea and Vitamin E. But the best part is that I USED IT ON MY EYES, and it didn't irritate them a bit! I don't have to use separate eye sunscreen on my eyes anymore, and I appreciate this convenience. It's too early to say if it improves my skin, but we'll see. I really like the fact that I receive a good sun protection without any chemicals applied on my face, and I don't have to use primer, because makeup lines up nicely on it. Update: I've been asked about the price of this sunblock and the place it can be bought. There are several sites on the net that sell it, just google the name. The owner offers a 30% discount on any order of $35 with the coupon code MU444 at the homepage (puresunscreen.com), which brings the price from $18.95 for 6 oz. to $13.26.
