Ugh, I hate this product. I bought this on a whim because I didn't have enough time to browse around, so I just grabbed it off the shelf and I regret it so much to this day.

First off, the thing I noticed the most, was that it left an apparent white cast on my face. VERY apparent. As I have dark skin. (I'm of south-east Asian descent.) I tried to return it the following week, but they wouldn't let me as I already had used a little. Second of all, I tried to put on my face the recommended amount of sunscreen, which is one teaspoon, and boy that's a lot! (I seriously don't know anybody who does that, even though that's the recommended dosage.) And when I did, my face felt itchy! Like I wanted to scratch my face off! And I have tolerant skin, I can practically try anything with no irritability, but no, not with this. For sensitive skins my ass, cos my skin's quite tolerant!

And thirdly, matte my ass! This thing is greasy as! Even when I applied a little, it was still greasy, and left a chalky appearance on my face. Which is my fault, cos I was in a hurry, and just picked it off the shelf, not knowing that the splotch of colour on the front was the colour it was going to come out. (Inside it is 'SPF 30+ UV-A & UV-B Protection'). That's also partly the reason why they didn't give me a refund because they said I should've been more observant of the front information it was giving.

Actually, that's the colour when it comes out, but it fades to a white as you rub it in.

I don't know if this will suit more lighter-skinned tones, it probably will be less of a hassle, but it might leave a ghostly appearance. It's very creamy, so I don't know how it'll leave a matt, natural finish, as it so says at the back, because it doesn't. I use this on the back of my hands because it's not noticeable, and on my face on the weekends, or when I'm not at work, cos it's so embarrassing! And even then, I still have to wear makeup over it, cos then my family asks, 'Why's your face so white?!'

In terms of sun protection, it's not deterring any sunspots on the back of my hands, which I'm prone to having, and I am noticing more. And I wear this everyday because I'm trying to get rid of it, and not waste my $20!
So what a waste of money. But I do like that it is waterproof, as I have tested this, and splashed my face numerous times, and it hasn't rubbed off. It's only 4 hours water resistant though.

It's active ingredient is microfine titanium dioxide 8.5%. Which is sufficient as the recommended amount by the EWG for sunscreens is 7% titanium dioxide or zinc oxide for broad spectrum. Although they still recommend using sunscreens that contain primarily zinc oxide, as it is a safer ingredient than all the others.
The packaging is great, but I wouldn't recommend throwing it in your handbag, as the lid might come undone, and the contents being squeezed all over your handbag. It's very squeazable and the packaging is not totally opaque, which is a good thing, as you can tell how much you have left by holding it to some strong lighting, like a light bulb, and see how much you have left.

Hell no would I buy this again! Not recommended for people of darker skin tones, and it DOES NOT leave a 'natural, matt finish.' Tsk! So misleading! continued >>

Ego is an Australian company that make excellent sunscreens. As someone who is allergic to chemical absorbers, finding the ultimate physical sunblock is like searching for the proverbial HG. This is failry good.
The pros - light textured liquid that absorbs easily into the skin, can be worn under makeup, leaves a bit of a white cast and is lightly tinted. Light enough to wear in summer without blocking pores, although if you have oily skin you will end up needing to blot a couple of times during the day.
The cons - despite what it says this is definitely not a matt finish. Instead it leaves skin looking quite shiny. However this is easily taken care of by using a light dusting of face powder. If you wear makeup over the top then the shininess disappears. The tint is quite light and doesn't really overcome the white cast. In fact on darker skins it may actually make it worse, by simply looking as if you've chosen a foundation that was way too light. The tube it comes in is large and ugly but the flip top is fairly easy to use.
Overall at approximately $18 for a 200gm tube this is good value, but the Cancer Council Toddler sunblock is a slightly better product. I will most likely only use this on days when I don't care if my face is a slightly odd colour, while keeping the Toddler sunblock to use on weekdays.
