This review is mostly a tip. I'm a first time buyer and was warned this foundation can "turn and spoil." I bought a 1 ounce container with a squeeze top from a storage store and put in about 1/2 an ounce, and stored the remaining 1 1/2 ounces in the fridge in the original bottle. My house is not air-conditioned and it can get pretty warm some weeks in the summer. I'm 65, fair NW20 so got N1, reactive skin normal-dry but gets dehydrated, have some sun spots and redness from mild flushing rosacea, but generally I have pretty good skin for my age. I like this foundation, especially the finish, and hope it will stay on my face longer than the LM TM which quickly slides off and disappears in the summer. I've always used a SS under my makeup so the lack of one doesn't bother me. I put a light dusting of Pur or MSF in Light Plus over my T zone.
I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation. Its more like a tinted moisturizer without the SPF. Its water based so its a MUST that you shake shake shake that bottle! I store mine in the fridge so i think its doubled its lifespan, my previous bottle didn't last as long. If you are looking for something to even out your skintone this is it, very little coverage. I can't even really get away with using this anymore as my go-to foundtion because it won't cover my melasma spots but this was my favorite for years, I just wish it had a little spf. That being said, this is great for photography esp. outdoor. Looks amazing. it also works great in summer on normal/dry skin because it just lasts and is water resistant.
I currently have C1, C2 and C4. I mixed the C2 and C4 in summer so that my face matches my body when i have a bit of a tan.
The larger bottle is great, epecially if you use every day. I have used this several ways: my fingers worked best for the coverage i was looking to achieve. I have also used a flat top brush and a stipling brush with success. If you need just a little more coverage you can also layer and I think its been said here, but its best to apply one 'layer' then wait until it sets, apply a second, etc. I also like this with a powder and without.
Im a fan of this foundation. It works great for my normal to dry skin. I love the finish of this and always get complimented on my skin with this one. Its very light but evens out my skin tone and gives me a very fresh appearance. There isn't a lot of coverage from this foundation so i recommend it for individuals with fairly good skin already. I apply this with my fingers and find it looks best when done this way. However, 2 big things to be cautious about. 1. Because of the dewy finish, during the day be ready to powder every few hours as it can lean to the oily looking side. 2. Have a good cleanser and wash your face really well after wearing this foundation as it does tend to clog pores. I take quite good care of my skin but did notice that compared to other foundations, this does clog quite a bit despite the lovely finish. My sister is very low maintenance in the skincare department and hated this foundation. I on the other hand love it.
Finally found my holy grail of foundations! Definitely buying again and again, in a bigger bottle next time!
I bought Mac face and body after trying to find a foundation for my dry skin. I have a few premature wrinkles around my eyes and sometimes get flaky skin on my nose, and my skin is just dry. I always put on moisturiser and my skin just sucks it right up and asks for more! I recently tried moisturising straight after a bath while my skin is still wet and it helps a little... but 5-6 hours later, my skin will be dry again. I always have problems with foundations drying out my skin even more, looking patchy and uneven and settling into the lines around my eyes.
Before trying this product, I had tried all manner of bourjois foundations, rimmel and maxfactor foundations, various clinique foundations, a clarins foundation in a red tube (I forget the name now), and more recently I tried NARS sheer glow, and No 7 lift and illuminate. This foundation trumps them all! (The No 7 lift and illuminate is pretty good, especially for the price, but the colours don't really suit my skin tone that well.)
This product doesnt dry out my face at all! I'm so impressed. I decided to try it without putting any moisturiser on before hand, which for me is a huge thing. Normally if I did that, my face would look dry, wrinkly, and flakey. But this stuff just went right on and stayed dewy looking. Not oily, just a slight sheen, very natural looking. It doesnt settle into lines, gives only a little coverage like a tinted moisturiser, but is extremely easy to build more coverage with a couple of layers, especially with a stippling brush. Doesn't look greasy at all, even on my nose (which is the oiliest part of my face) and after wearing it for a full day, I can say that the staying power is great.
The squeezy bottle isnt the most attractive packaging I've seen but it isn't messy at all if you use it carefully. Just tip it up, squeeze gently and a little bit comes out....not much harder than using a ketchup bottle, I dont know what the problems that some people seem to be having with the bottle are all about....
ITS AMAZING IF YOU HAVE DRY SKIN

i think im nc35-40 in mac foundations so they lady at the counter matched me to a C5 in this. i think its just half a shade darker then me, im probably an c4 but once i have it on it gives a nice sunkissed tanned looking glow which looks great for summer. its light and easily blendable and has alot of pigment in it. in the winter id prob be a c4, but i like the tanned look in summer. i set it with a powder so considering i get a shiny t zone during the day it was fine and manageable. it doesnt give a matt finish, but i dont use alot, so i dont get all oil slick which some people probably do. i dab the oil off once in the afternoon and its fine...i would by this again, as it gives a lovely glowy golden enhanced look to my light brown skin!
I bought into the hype of this product last summer, and as soon as I could I ran to my nearest MAC store to purchase it. While it is a nice sheer but buildable foundation, it just does not have the staying power for the summer months. And if you have oily skin just forget about it, it stays on for a max 2-3 hours at most. While I've heard that this foundation will match most skin colors, I just couldn't find one to match my light olive tone. And I noticed tiny bumps on my cheeks two weeks after using this product. So I wouldn't recommend this product to people with acne prone skin.
I was always worried about purchasing this product based of the reviews of it breaking some people out. It does have oil in it from what I read on the ingredient list and that also contributed to my delay of purchasing this product.
But i decided to go for it and am on my second bottle now. This foundation as everyone has said is light but build-able to an extent. A perfect color for me, as i run more yellow around NC20 - C1 was dead on. I have tried MUFE face and body and though while different and good in and of its own, the colors ran to neutral or pink and dark.
Also a tip that i read on here or somewhere else for this foundation is to rub your hands together with the product until you feel it thickening up to an certain extent (the more product you use the longer that effect takes) then when thickened pat into your skin or rub gently. This allows for slightly better coverage and easier blending. Other than that the foundation is extremely natural, most people will probably need setting powder (lasts around 5-8 hours with some sheen later on) Also like i said it didn't break me out at all, but i cant attest that for everyone.

I use this foundation a lot for when I do wedding make up and Formals/Proms. It has a natural and flawless finish but you will need to powder in areas where you tend to get oily. It's a fantastic foundation which lasts all day, has buildable coverage and is waterproof!
MAC Face and Body foundation has be around for a long time, but for the first time since it’s inception, MAC has finally permanently launched across all stores, meaning everyone can now try it out, not just those lucky enough to live beside a Pro store. Hate it when they do that!
Anyway, F&B is my go-to foundation in my kit; I use it on just about everybody and absolutely love it, so I thought I’d share my thoughts and techniques on how to get the most out of this product.
For starters, F&B has a sheer to medium, buildable coverage. It is a very fluid runny formula making it a little messy to work with. The finish is dewy, and tends to suit a normal to dry skin best. It’s a waterproof formula and has great staying power, as long as you’re not excessively oily. I always set it with powder, as it can look quite shiny by itself.
This stuff is probably the runniest foundation you will have ever used, it’s like water. But as soon as you start working it into the skin, the strangest thing starts to happen. The more friction or movement F&B gets, the thicker it gets, so the more you blend it in, the more coverage it has. A great tip I learned from my days of working on counter at MAC is to pour a little of the product into the palm of your hands, then vigorously rub your hands together. about 10 seconds you will feel the foundation begin to thicken and then you can either massage it on the face with your hands, or use a stiff buffing brush to blend it on. That way you avoid having the blend the hell out of you or your clients face.
Tools:
The best tools for applying it are you mitts! Without a doubt, your hands will apply this foundation best. You can perfect the finish of it by buffing the skin with a brush after you have applied it with your hands, but there is seriously no point trying to get an even finish with a brush alone, it’s just too damn runny.
Coverage:
Although the coverage is sheer to medium, really you can build this up to be full coverage, it’s so malleable and controllable you can get whatever level of coverage you want.
Finish:
The finish is dewy, and very smooth, skin looks pore free and perfect. The film formers in this product (the ingredients that make it waterproof) stop the foundation from sinking into pores and fine lines, and instead creates a second skin that sits perfectly smooth.
Skin Type:
Because of it’s very dewy finish though, this really isn’t the best foundation for oily skin, I myself can’t wear it, it goes very shiny very quickly, even with copious amounts of powder. It’s stunning on normal to dry skins though.
Body:
It will not cover tatoos or bruises or birthmarks! It’s a sheer finish, that you can build, but you wont get that level of coverage. It’s gorgeous to even out skin tone on the body, for example if you get very red and splotchy across your chest, or you have very pale translucent skin. It’s a waterproof formula, so it won’t streak if it gets wet, but it’s not 100% transfer resistant. I wouldn’t wear it with white!
Everything that I just shared has been with my experience and is my own opinion. This is an amazing product, but isnt right for everybody! MAC will give samples, so stop in and grab one... try before you buy! I hope you like it as much as i do. Nothing better than multi-demensional products that can be used in many dofferent ways. It makes you feel less guilty when you spend the money! :-) continued >>

I'm not sure how I feel about this foundation. I went into MAC looking for a lightweight foundation to wear during the hot summer months. The MA recommended this one to me and I loved the color match and how it looked after she applied it. I've been wearing it for the past couple days and feel like the dewy finish it gives makes my face look oily. I feel like this foundation would be better suited for the winter time when my skin is dry instead of sweaty.
