I wore this for eight hours requiring only one minor touch up; which in and of itself is a first. Add on to the fact that part of that eight hours was spent riding 12 miles on a bicycle in 95 degree weather and I think we have achieved HG

This product works miracles. Keeps my t-zone shine free for 5-6 hrs.
I don't need to blot anymore since I got this. It has a nice consistency and smells lovely. It's expensive at €42 but will definitely repurchase it.

My skin is extremely oily and therefore prone to breakouts. I have tried many different primers to control the oilyness and to make my make up last longer but this is the best one I have tried so far.

This primer dries into a nice matte, velvety finish and keeps my skin matte for hours on end. I use this under mineral make up and my foundation goes on smoothly and lasts longer than it normally does.
I think this primer works even better in combination with a liquid foundation.

I take one lippie of for the price (it's just too expensive) but other than that I'm definitely going to buy this again. Oily girls should give it try!

I bought this product after reading the recommendations for it. It's an amazing product, it mattifies my skin for at least five hours after application. Really happy with this!

I have tried so many products to control the shine on my face, especially on the T-zone. This product worked for me is the best oil control primer that I have ever used. It is still working at the end of the day I will continue to use it and I would also highly recommend it!

I really wanted to love this, but unfortunately my experience with this isn't quite good. It is perfumed and the smell is like a delicate pwodery rose, which imo quite nice. It's also a silicone-based primer, which in general I avoid, as I hate the slippery yet oily sensation (think the Smashbox one), and forunately YSL's is much lighter and dries like powder on face with less slippery feeling. It spreads evenly on skin with fingers without greasy or oily feeling.
As for keeping my face matte, this is quite good as I never expect something super/ dead matte. This kept my face less shiny for like for half a day when the humidity and temperature isn't too high. I dare say I can notice a difference when I'm using my liquid fdt (Cle de Peau Refining Fluid Fdt) though not much when I'm using my powder one (Chanel Vitalumiere Eclat). This is odd but I don't know why... Maybe becasue I set my liquid fdt with the Chanel loose powder while I don't for the powder fdt. A point to note is I don't have oily skin but normal to dry skin. Also, it doesn't dry out my skin. Not sure if it will cling to dry patches as I don't have any of those when I was using this product.
It doesn't really cover the pores though to begin with, I don't have really enlarged pores and I didn't notice any difference with this on. Also, I don't think this helped either of my foundations to glide on more easily though again, to begin with, I don't have much problem on this. Undeniably, it helped both of my fdt to look better for longer.
The only thing I'm not happy is that it irritated my skin. My skin was clear and after I used this primer for twice in one week, I have some pimple-like thing on my skin (like small pox, ewww). I didn't change any of my routine items other than this, so unfortunately, I'm going to say this is likely the culprit for my current skin condition.
Not too much to comment on the packaging - just a standard sleek transparent tube with the signature gold cap. Personally I prefer a primer in pump bottle, esp the air-tight ones.
The bottom line is get a sample for yourself, just in case you may end up like me - need to swap this away for something while burnt $42. I still rated this a 4 as this actually worked though my skin doesn't get along with it.

I have no idea what is wrong with me, but anything that rates good sucks for me :(
I had high expectations for this. It went on okay, but there is no lasting power to it! Lacked both oil control and foundation lasting power.
Did not do anything to "smooth" skin or pores. Totally NOT worth the price. Mary Kay oil control primer is just as good as this and way cheaper, but I will keep searching for my HG.
Glad Sephora takes returns.

I was really shocked at how well this worked after trying so many primers that don't do anything. My skin is super oily and this definitely helps keep the grease at bay for much longer (I'd say about 3-4 hours) than usual. Normally by lunchtime I have to blot, but not when I use this. It's very similar to Urban Decay's Pore Perfecting primer - the only real difference is that the YSL is ever-so-slightly better at mattifying, whereas the Urban Decay is better at camouflaging large pores. Either way, this is pricey but definitely worth it.

I bought this product a while ago and tried it once but didn't like the way it felt oily on my skin so didnt use it until recently. Complete change of mind about it! There is a HUGE difference when i put this under my makeup! The pores all disappear on your face and my Laneige Dual Foundation just slides on.
This product may feel oily but it is not and it's more of a silky/matte effect. The smell is quite nice and one tube lasts a long time. It is worth the investment.

I read up on the reviews on MUA and Sephora and was very eager (and optimistic) to try this primer. First, its almost impossible for me to find at a store, so I had to order it on sephora.com. It’s also pretty expensive, although you get a big tube I still think its pricey. I wear Everyday Minerals loose powder foundation, and need something to help give me some staying powder (and better coverage) on my oily porous skin. Prior to getting this primer I just put the EM right on my skin sans lotion, which seems to help it last longer. If my skin is dry I need lotion but use it sparingly. The first time I tried it I put a little of this primer all over my face before using my EM, without using lotion first. Big mistake…I am sensitive to silicone, so I avoid anything with silicone in it. I read the ingredients to this and it doesn’t say there is silicone (or silica) in it, but it sure feels like it. Its got lots of slip but feels very dry once you put it on. Too dry in fact. It says its supposed to be slightly moisturizing, but I think it’s the opposite. After about a minute my face got white flakes on it and the primer pilled up. Looked terrible! I didn’t even attempt to put my EM over that as I knew it would make my makeup look cakey. So I rinsed it off, and put on lotion first. Then I reapplied the primer. Helped a bit but I still noticed some dry looking patches where it pilled up again. I put on my EM and an hour later my face was as oily as can be. The second time I used it, I just put it on my forehead and T-Zone. I was still shiny an hour later so this did absolutely nothing for me except make my face look dry, flaky, and then greasy. Also noteworthy: I find the scent of this stuff HORRIBLE! It smells like cheap old lady floral perfume. It goes away after you put it on but c’mon! That’s the best scent they could find for this? Yuck! I’d rather smell chemicals than that retched floral smell. So back to Sephora it goes. At least I can drop it off at the store instead of mailing it back and save myself from spending any more money on it. I know some of you love this but it certainly didn’t work for me….the search continues.

It doesn't keep my oilies away very long and it caused me to break out even though I use oil-based cleanser. It does smell nice and I love the clear packaging. Too bad this didn't work out for me. :(

All bow down to the super human beings at YSL who formulated this ingenious product. THIS IS MY FAVORITE PRIMER- HG MATERIAL. It is so smooth, blendable, smells great, lasts all day, mattifying PERFECTION. Yes, it is another pricey primer, but I reccomend this to everyone. I don't like the fact that it is in a tube and not a pump, but it is still perfect. The price has never been more worth it, in my opinion.

Believe the hype - this stuff DOES work as mattifier, primer, and finishing touch to set your makeup. Really blurs your pores and gives your face that airbrushed effect. When I forget to use it (and you only need a teeny squirt), I really feel it b/c I end up blotting more than I'd like to. However, when I do use it usu. right before my BB cream and powder, then I can go til noon before having to blot for the first time.

Absolutely AMAZING! HG!!!! This is the best quality makeup product that I have ever bought for reasons which I will explain below, so the price ($42) to me is very well justified. I had my first tube for about 9 months before purchasing a new one. You only need about a pea sized amount, to get all day flawless makeup. The product itself has great "slip" and spreads like a dream. It has a whipped texture, but doesn't feel heavy or greasy on my skin, and the light floral scent is not offensive. It doesn't leave a white cast on the skin. This did not give clog my pores and make me break out like previous lesser primers that I have tried which are so overhyped but not even worthy of being mentioned in this review. Rather it minimized them and helped my powder foundation adhere better to my skin. As I am a bit on the oily side, I appreciate the mattifying property. I notice as the weather gets warmer, I have to blot about once a day, but believe me when I say I am not complaining about this, because it used to be that I would have to blot 3-4 times a day year round. I like the fact that it comes in a clear tube as well. When I got to he last bit, I cut the tube in half to scoop out the rest to put in a small sample jar. If you're still not convinced, request a sample first. You will not be disappointed!

Helps to prolong the hold of makeup, is easy to apply, doesn't smell, you just need a small amount. Foundation goes very well over this primer. Leaves skin soft and velvet. Doesn't control oil, I shine with or without this product, that's actually the main reason why I wouldn't buy it again.

The sun is on full UV blast, the dank humidity hangs around and sticks like a second skin, mingling with sweat and sebum, the bugs buzz, bite and feast - ah, the joys of summer! Time to break out my antidote to the great summer mayhem, shiny pore-riddled oozing T-Zone and gooey smeary makeup. It is ridiculous how effortless it is with this Primer to maintain some poise and composure while trapped in the midst of irritated, sweaty, not-very-fresh metro commuters during peak hours. This fruity-green scented velvety siliconey goo in a tube kept my face fresh as a peach with no sign of my makeup beating a retreat or forming random patterns that can be best described as "beige ombre". It performs its miraculous feat on the eyes too, putting UDPP to shame. And with its soft translucent tube, every last drop can be seen and squeezed out, no need to wield the chainsaw to dissect curvy hard plastic bottle parts to get at hidden pockets of products!

Initially upon application, i did not notice the immediate shrinking of my pores and was a bit disappointed. However, when i applied my liquid foundation over it, it seemed flawless and not too matte, with a hint of soft glow. I did notice that my oily face was kept relatively matte 12 hours out shopping with my bf!

I am super oily! I was a total fan of givinchi mister matte primer(still am) it smells of slight rose! (love that too) but I also have tried the ysl matte touch primer and it, I think even works a tad better! So ladies with oily skin in need of an awesome primer both work super well! So yes at this very moment I bought the full size of the matte touch and am glad I did!

What this is: a pre-makeup base that smooths and mattifies. YSL claims that this will make foundation smooth on easier and will cut down on daytime shine. Matt Touch also claims that the ingredient Ampli Light+ will amplify and diffuse ambient light to give a glowing look and help small imperfections disappear. In the tube, Matt Touch is a translucent white gel-cream. As it spreads on, it becomes invisible with no white trace. This has the usual YSL makeup fragrance - sort of cucumbery floral.
I only use this as a liquid powder for mid-day shine touch-ups and it is AMAZING. I mean, it's perfection in a tube! My skin is generally combination with some shine and larger pores in the t-zone and drier skin/some fine lines elsewhere. By lunchtime my makeup is getting a bit shiny and I need more than blotting sheets to keep me going the rest of the day. My problem is that even the sheerest powders seem to make my makeup look heavier and my cheeks drier by accentuating my fine lines. This is *totally* different. It just erases the shine and minimizes my pores without looking like I added a speck of makeup. I can also totally control where I apply it.
Here's how I use it: I blot my skin of any excess oil. I then blend a grain of rice sized amount between my fingertips so the primer thins out evenly. Then I gently pat my fingertips on all my shiny areas. The key here is to pat, not swipe, a very thin amount over makeup, otherwise your makeup can be disturbed. For my skin type, this gives me a matte finish, which lasts a few hours and develops into a satiny glow by late afternoon.
I think this is expensive at $42/1oz but a tube should last me a very long time the way I use it.
EDIT 11/28/2009: Hm, I found another good use for this primer! I use this as a mixing medium for powder mineral foundation. I start with a damp foundation brush and a small amount of this primer blended into the bristles, then I work the brush into a small amount of mineral makeup (in a small ramekin or bowl). This makes a gel-cream foundation that can be easily brushed on without a powdery finish. :) continued >>
