My favourite matte black, better in my opinion than MAC Carbon. Needs primer potion (as with every UD shadow) but it's worth it. Low mark for packaging as its uglier than the packaging for the non-matte shadows.

This black matte shadow is so silky and smooth! It is great for blending on top of a lighter bright colored shadow to turn any color into a smokey eye. I used to use Smashbox Midnight Black, but this is much better. Also, I use this everyday but it takes a long time for the product to even show a dent. The only negative is that if I use this to smudge eyeliner, it makes it crease which didn't happen when I used the Smashbox.

This is one of the few rare matte e/s form UD. Its a welcomed change. I see alot of pple saying its the BLACKEST e/s they own and its darker than MAC's carbon and NYX black. I dont own MAC carbon so I cant say, but its not blacker than NYX Black. This is not what I expected. Its nice but kind of streaky in my book. Its not like OMG its a must have. I prefer NYX to be honest but its a good black e/s notheless, just not exceptional.

Oh my gosh, I love these shadow. I know this looks like a dark charcoal shade in the pan, but trust me - it is BLACK on skin. I feel it's as black as NYX Black or Mac Carbon on skin (but not in the pan). The texture is silky and smooth and just plain luxurious. There's very little fallout when applying, which I appreciate since dark shadows can get messy. Great staying power too. I can't say enough good things about this. Urban Decay makes some great black eyeshadows, and you can also find this discounted at All Cosmetics Wholesale. Highly recommend this. Everyone needs a good black eyeshadow in their arsenal.

I use Perversion as my eyeliner every day. I hate pencils and liquid liners, so this fits the bill perfectly! Hands down, best black eyeshadow EVER, IMHO of course! :) It's texture is soooo silky and applies like a dream with an eyeliner brush. This lasts all day with no fading when used with UDPP. I can't say enough good things about this matte eyeshadow. I will always have this color in my collection, and, as always, I want to thank Urban Decay for not testing on animals!! :D

I've gone to the dark side... Haha... But really, I replaced my Mac carbon with this!!! And I don't regret it!!!

I returned carbon because it was impossible to work with. I loved the palette version (only $11 and I can customize my palette!) and its blackest black color. However, the texure was awful... Dry, streaky... Very attractive.

Not knowing what to do when Mac failed me, I remembered that Urban Decay's eyeshadows have wonderful texture. So I went and got myself perversion and I'll never go back! It's a nice matte black (a tad less dark than carbon, but still dark enough) and very blendable. It's so blendable that at first, I had to practice using it because I wasn't used to the soft texture. I use this as a black eyeliner since I have hooded asian eyelids and pencil eyeliner looks odd on me.

Cons: Have to depot to put in Mac palette (looks like it'll fit!) and at $17, it's a tad pricey for one color. Probably will last forever though, especially as a liner.

Loooove this. The perfect matte black. Like one of the previous reviewers said, it's so much better than Carbon. And this stuff stays put with or without shadow primer. Creates the perfect smokey eye every time no matter what I pair it with.

This is a perfect blackest black matte eyeshadow. It has practically no fallout, blends amazingly with other shadows, is super duper pigmented. I also have MAC's Carbon, and this is waaaaaayy better. It's darker than carbon, blends better than carbon and has a way better texture. I use it as an outer v shadow for going out looks or as an eyeliner. Everyone claims that Carbon is a must have, but I replaced my Carbon with UD Perversion and couldn't be happier. =]

I've been searching forever for the perfect black shadow. I first bought MAC's Carbon eyeshadow and let me just say Urban Decay's Perversion put it to shame. Although it looks dark gray in the packaging, dont be fooled! This color goes on super dark black and blends like a creamy dream! The fallout was so minimal and it achieves the perfect black smokey eye for me. You can intensify the darkness because it allows you to build the color, I dont even need an eyebrow highlight with it. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this product.!

I love this black shadow. The texture is so smoothe and blends like a dream with my other shadows. The unique color of perversion is beautiful. It is not a harsh black, but more of a very, very dark gray that can be built up to a dark black. It suits my paler complexion and green eyes much better than any other black I own. Other brands are too dark. If you tap your pencil brush lightly into this shadow and add to the outer v it adds the perfect amount of depth. This is a great addition to any make up lover's collection.

This is a really great product for my asian skintone. It's very pigmented, has a nice soft but rich black to it unlike some of the other blacks I've tried which either ended up looking too harsh or too weak.
It's also really easy to blend and use. Sometimes I use this as a liner when I'm lazy with my liquid liner, I just use a mac eyeshadow brush and swipe some on in the crease and I'm ready to go.

This eyeshadow is supper velvety and smooth and very versityle . i love that its super inky and pigminted. this eye shadow is super easy to blend with a brush or your fingers. i like using my fingers to apply my eye shadows and urban decay has formulated thier eye shadows so you can apply them using your fingers. i love that this isnt chalky and streaky like " MAC carbon". I RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT:)

I love love love UD's Matte eyeshadows. I have every single color except for the two bright blue shades. Although Perversion is as silky, blendable, and a true matte eyeshadow like the other shades, I will not be rebuying since it is not quite black enough for me. I did a few smokey eye looks (purple, blue, green, and brown) with Perversion and I was never satisfied with it. I've never used black eye shadow before so I thought some black shadow in the outter corners and the "V" would add some dimension and a little more drama to the look, but no matter how much I applied, I just couldn't get the look that I wanted. Applied on top of other colors, Perversion doesn't really look black. Eventually, I went back to Sephora to look for a better black shadow. I swatched Perversion and another matte black shadow I liked, Smashbox Blackout. Compared to Perversion, Blackout was much blacker and I would've been happy with it but I walked next door to the MAC store to compare Carbon with Perversion and Blackout. Carbon was the clear winner. When compared next to Carbon, Perversion looks almost grey. As a matter of fact, it actually pulls a little green on my olive-toned NC 25 skin. That was quite a shock to me because then I knew there was a reason why I hadn't been able to get the right look from Perversion. Anyway, a lot of people seem to like Perversion but if you're finding that it's just not black enough, try MAC Carbon.

I really like this applied as liner with my flat liner brush. It takes me a little bit longer than with a pencil liner, but I find I get the thinnest, darkest line possible with UD Perversion. If I'm doing a really dark look, I'll apply this sparingly in the crease as well. I tried Oil Slick and really hated all of the glitter in it - Perversion is better pigmented with no glitter and was a much better alternative.

I hate to be the first one with a negative review but i don't care for this shadow. I got it in the Book of Shadows palette so maybe the quality is not as great as the individual e/s? But when i blend it out its not as pigmented as my other black shadows that i have (MAC's carbon, and stilas Makalu). For that reason, i wouldn't buy this e/s.

I got this eyeshadow as part of a palette with 15 other shadows in, and this is definitely the one i use the most! The palette came with a brush similar to the BeneFit Talent Brush, and I use the brush to apply the shadow after my liner to get a good smokey eye look =)
However, if used without Primer Potion, its very sheer and doesnt stay well, which is why I only gave it 4...
I am looking forward to it running out so I can justify getting another pot of it so I can carry it around with me =)

Gorgeous matte black. Perfect for a smokey eye.
What makes Perversion stand out against a glut of black shadows is its incredible texture. Matte? Yes but not in a flat, dry-looking way. Blends like a dream.
I find myself reaching more for this than any of my MAC black shadows.
I've bought two of these so I can always have one on hand.

What a nice matte black eyeshadow. The texture is so creamy but stays on very well. (Especially with primer potion.) It looks kinda light and greyish in the pan but on the skin it is very very black. It's nice for using as an eyeliner with visine or licking the brush. (I know I know..)

I was kind of intimidated with this at first because it was a really dark black and I'm fair with blonde hair and I didn't know how well that would work out but when I got home I found out a way to soften how intense the black is and it's such an awesome color.
