I bought this during my vacation in Australia. I was looking for a natural sunblock, so I thought it would be good to try something from this brand. The texture of the sunblock is rather thick, so it gets rather hard to apply and blend on your face. It also makes your face ghastly white if you do not apply it properly. Sun protection wise, it is fabulous. However the worst part is trying to remove the sunscreen! It is waterproof and I spend too much time trying to clean and scrub this off my face.

When I spotted this in the chemist I was excited - a natural sunscreen that I could feel confident about the sun protection factor given its made by the CC. That's about where the excitement ended.
- Its very hard to apply, the formula is very thick and chalky which means I had to rub and rub to get rid of the whiteness - turns a full body application into a very labourious task.
- As soon as it got wet or I started to sweat a terrible white cast would appear on my skin.
- I could feel it sitting on my skin like a greasy layer all day.
- When it comes time to wash it off - lord what a task!
As for the sun protection - it was excellent on my face - no burning or freckles for me at all. But I did find that I would often get burnt in odd little patches on my body bc it was just too hard to get an even application all over, so I would miss spots and get burnt. Poo to that! Wont repurchase.

This is a review for two products recently released by the Cancer Council of Australia. UV Natural Sunscreen with 20% zinc oxide for sensitive skin and Everyday Sunscreen with Zinclear (also 20% zinc oxide). Both contain 20% zinc oxide and the same preservatives so I have no idea what the difference is in their formulation. I have emailed the Cancer Council asking this but they have not replied. I have tried both and they look and feel exactly the same - awful.
For the record I am mid 40's with slightly oily skin and a tendency to get pimples in hot weather. I have given both a one week trial. Both sunscreens spread fairly easily and leave only a minimal white cast. However they are quite drying and very difficult to remove at the end of the day. They will not come off with soap and water. I had to use sorbolene and scrub with a wash cloth to get them off. Even though they are drying they gave me some small pimples because the formulation blocked my pores. It is only spring so the weather is still cool/mild. Who knows what zits I would have had if I wore this in summer.
All in all these are truly awful products and a real disappointment from a company that should be able to do better. I applaud that they are trying to give people chemical free options, but these are the worst of any of the zinc oxide only products I have tried, and I have triend around 8.
Update January 2010 - The Cancer Council has revamped the formula for the UV Natural Sunscreen. It still comes in the same dark green tube for the same price but is now called Mineral Sunscreen Plus. The new formulation contains coconut oil, aloe vera gel, vitamin e and calendula. Unfortunately, it's every bit as awful as the old formula. It still feels like smearing clay on my face, it does leave a white cast and this is particularly noticeable around the hairline and wherever you perspire, and it's every bit as difficult to get off at the end of the day. NO SALE!
