I was in my local health food shop when I met a lady doing a promotion of Laveras products. After talking to her for some time about my VERY difficult skin, she recommended this sunscreen for my face since my face is very sensitive and I break out from absolutely everything (including essential oils). In the past I've tried Dermalogica, Vichy and LRP sunscreens and the only one that so far seems to work ok is the Dermalogica sunscreen. But since I'm forever thinking there's something better out there I wanted to try Laveras range.
The lady in the health food shop gave me a sample of this and I am so glad I didn't go ahead and buy the bottle straight away. Bear in mind that I intended to use this for my face so my review is based solely on this use.
The cream is very, very thick and gloopy. It's very hard to spread and leaves a white cast after application. I was recommended to blot with a paper towel after appliying this creme to take away the shinyness and white cast and after doing that it looked a bit better. Or so I thought until I looked at a bigger mirror - hello Casper the ghost! After half an hour I still looked white so I tried to rub some off which kinda defeats the purpose of sunscreen but what can you do? A couple of hours later this sunscreen was balling up on my skin so I actually ended up washing it off.
I would not recommend this for facial use, it probably works grand on the body but on the face it's far to heavy and the white cast it leaves is just not a pretty look. I got a sample of Laveras anti-age sunscreen too so I'm going to brave the essential oils tomorrow and see how I fare with that formula!

Too oily and a bit too sticky for me. Also, can appear as a whitish film on the skin, hence it is necessary to apply it evenly. Plus it leaves whitish marks when in contact with skin on which it has been applied. On the good side, the SPF is high enough plus it's a natural product, doesn't cause my skin to break out and is rather water resistant. But I probably won't buy this again.

Very unhappy with this purchase. I am on Retin A so I need a good sunscreen that won't irritate my skin. This sunscreen doesn't irritate at all, but I can't stand the look of it on my face. It makes me look like a monster. The whitish tinge is unbearable. It also draws attention to my dry skin; You can see the flakes. I tried to mix it with a foundation but that was a bad idea! I looked even worse. I'm upset that I just spent 35$ for a small bottle. I'm also not pleased with the smell. I suppose I can use it on my body. I guess I will continue my search for a non-irritating sunscreen. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
UPDATE:
This sunscreen is not so bad. I really love how gentle it is (doesn't burn when you sweat) and how it is effective immediately. To minimize whitish tinge, apply a moisturizer first and make sure your skin is totally dry. Also, start with a small amount...you can always add more. The whiteness disappears when I apply my PurMinerals 4-in-1. Don't know if I'll repurchase, but not as bad as I originally thought.

I was very interested in wearing a physical sunscreen for the long days we spend outdoors in the summer. This one provides good sun protection, and is quite waterproof, however, the texture is horrible. As another reviewer mentions, it is a very thick cream, very heavy, so it would be unsuitable for the face. It is very hard to spread on the skin, and it leaves a noticeable whitish cast.
I would not mind that much, as long as I don't burn, but what really killed it for me is that it is impossible to reapply if the skin is anything but perfectly dry. When they state on the box it should be applied on dry skin, they mean it. If there is any slight dampness (eg. after working out, or after swimming, even after drying as best as possible with a towel), this becomes an opaque white paint that just won't absorb. Industrial amounts of soap are required later to remove it. Stay away from this one if you are considering doing anything remotely active!

I love all of the Lavera products especially the suncare and Make up. the sunscreen and self tanners smell wonderful. As this is an organic line the sunscreens are chemical free!!

Great sunscreen for everywhere that's not the face. This is a physical-only cream, with titanium dioxide. It is fairly rich, so better for drier skin. Contains many fine vegetal butters and unguents (see full ingredient list at end of review). Like other Lavera products, it is not tested on animals, is cruelty-free and vegan and has been tested on human subjects suffering from useful skin conditions; sensible as the Neutral line is targeted at allergic, sensitive skin, rosacea, and eczema.
So far, I haven't burned, nor had rashes (other than the usual everyday "hello sunshine" of photosensitivity), and it hasn't stained the edges of my clothes.
One lippie off for the texture: it's very heavy and hard to apply. I much prefer Lavera's SPF 30 sunscreen spray: TiO2 again, unperfumed, formulated for sensitive skin, and siginificantly lighter and easier to apply. Light enough to spray into hand and use on face. The 40, though - nope, better off any areas that are prone to zits. I still keep it in my bag for mid-day reapplication; on all body parts ope to the air, plus forehead and nose.
NB: It's "just" a TiO2 based sunscreen: con - not full-spectrum coverage (adding ZnO2 helps there). But pro - unlikely for there to be any skin reactions. You can't win...
And as for the ingredients - wow. If you like companies like Fresh and Kiehl's, or other concocters of high-class natural stuff - this has more of the good stuff, and the "fillers" aren't the usual rubbish, but instead things like jojoba, sweet almond, and evening primrose oils ... Herewith the ingredients, without further ado:
