White this is touted as a shave cream for men, it is just as nice for a woman to use. My neighbor purchased this for me as a Christmas present and I have been using it for months on my legs. It gives a nice, close shave and leaves my skin very soft and smooth. I think because it is meant for men's faces, it is more gentle than other shave creams, so my legs feel much more moisturized than with a shaving gel. It is very creamy and does not foam at all. The smell is a nice mix of herbal and a masculine cologne. I would repurchase.

This review is for the men's Aveda Shave Cream. My husband has used every drugstore shaving cream out there to try to get rid of those little red bumps he gets on his neck. When nothing out there worked for him, I talked him into trying this after bringing it home from the salon. After using this for a week or two, the razor burn had almost disappeared completely. He used the whole tube and loved it. He ran out one morning and had to use his old cream for a couple weeks until I got back to the salon and the bumps came back. Once he had the Aveda again, they got better. The smell is wonderful and natural, not overwhelming. A little goes a long way and the tube lasts for quite a while.

It appears that some people are reviewing Aveda's Rosemary Mint Shaving Gel; I am reviewing an Aveda men's product called Aveda Shave Cream.
I finally got my husband to cave on some luxury beauty items for himself, and this is one of the items he picked out. Considering I usually pay about US$1.89 for his Gillette shaving foam, where a little goes a long way, this Aveda shave cream was definitely a splurge. At US$12, this shave cream claims it has (per the back of the tube) a "non-foaming, plant-derived formula" that "softens and lubricates, preparing skin for a close, comfortable shave. Gentle, with pure plant aroma and peppermint, lavender, aloe and other pure flower and plant essences to soothe and condition skin."
I personally didn't care for this shave cream when I tried his tube. First, the packaging is a tube, with a cap that retains water that drops down into the cap, so if you turn the tube, you get splashed with cold water. Not fun in the winter! But the plastic tube is nicer to get hit with if it flies off the shower caddy or shower shelf; it hurts a lot more to get hit with the metal tube of shave gel! I do like the manly yet plant-y scent, though it doesn't knock my socks off. It's strong enough that you can smell it when you use it, but it's not fake, chemical-y and overwhelming like some shave gel fragrances can be. The shave cream itself is a white, creamy lotion or conditioner-type substance. I didn't enjoy shaving with it, and I had to use more if it to shave with than I would have if I were using a gel. I don't think it gave me any more of a close shave than a gel would, and I don't think it really did much conditioning of my underarms (not like they need conditioning, though.) I don't think DH really cared for this shave cream, either, and I've since gone back to buying his regular Gilette shaving gel.

I bought this product pretty much for the scent. I had read a review in a magazine about it, and was ready to break free of my Skintimate! It was a really pleasant change because I ended up liking it. The smell is fabulous, the texture is kinda thick, but I never had a problem with it clogging my razor or anything of that sort. It left my skin smooth and it's something I like to have in my shower for a close shave, but not something I use every day.

I didn't get a very close shave with this. Also, I wanted to try it for the Rosemary Mint smell, but could barely smell it. It didn't foam AT all, and I like things that either foam or lather really well, or else are creamy and thick. This was neither. Won't be repurchasing this.

I buy my boyfriend's shaving cream because I have to smell it! This is my absolute favorite. I don't know if it's as rich as Alba Botanica's cream shaves because I haven't personally used it, but it smells deeee-vine.

I really liked the texture, feel and scent (rosemary mint) of this product, but I get a better, smoother, closer shave with my beloved KMF Moisture Shave. A nice product, but expensive & I would much rather just get more KMF. I would have to go over some areas a second swipe and it also left a dragging residue on my razor sometimes. Absolutely LOVE the scent!!! Will have to try the KMF in mint! continued >>
