I can't afford the European sunscreens with super high ppds, but this is an affordable choice with decent uva protection. My skin is fair and very clog/acne prone so I always have ugly red marks that get worse in just a little sun. But I've been using Alpha Hydrox enhanced lotion every night and this sunscreen every day faithfully - and I'm definitely seeing results! The horrible brown spots and patches are fading to almost nothing and my post acne marks are slowly diminishing. I now consider this sunscreen my HG because it doesn't clog me, it has a nice finish (I just need a little powder on my t-zone, especially under my bangs), it's affordable and easy to find, and it protects well.

Just tested this once today, and I am sold. It's dries off nicely, not sticky, no white caste. The smell is a little too strong, but bearable. Not sure about photostability, but fellow MUAer gave it an OK so I am sure it's fine!

This is pretty much the best sunscreen of all time ever. I took it on vacation to Belize for my sister's wedding, and within days the Legend of the Awesome Sunscreen had spread far and wide. People I barely knew would walk by and be all, "Hey, can I use some of this?" As much as it sucks that my beloved sunscreen got used up in a week and a half, I take comfort knowing that I may have started a grassroots revolution against the scourge of skin cancer.
Specifics: it doesn't sting, it's only as greasy as your average moisturizer, it doesn't break me out, its fragrance is inoffensive, and its protection is fab. I'm indifferent to the "spray' gimmick. I usually end up just spraying it into my hand and applying like normal. It also makes it difficult to access the dregs when you get to the bottom, and believe me, you will get to the bottom. continued >>

I am really loving this stuff! The protection is great AND the finish is great? I thought that was impossible. It spreads nicely and comes in a nice spray bottle which is very handy. Right now I am using this only on my body which it is perfect for especially in summer because it isn't at all oily or greasy and leaves no weird sheen like some sunblocks do. I wish this was unscented, not because it stinks, but just because I prefer unscented things. Its a baby powder scent so at least it isn't a silly coconut or banana smell or something embarrasing to wear at work. I havn't tried this on my face yet as it seems like Hawaiian Tropic things sting my face. Also, I recently bought something else for face (coppertone sport SPF 50 for faces) so I need to give that time before I try something new. Once I've given that some time to see how it works, I'll get to trying this baby faces/tender places lotion on my face and update. I will definitely buy this again for daily body use and even when going on vacation! I got mine at wal-mart.

This is a nice sunscreen. I was using Neutrogena Dry Touch spf 55 for several years before this, but I was looking for something that wouldn't leave my face looking white and not absorb at all (Dry Touch was that way for me). The ppd of this is 17, as opposed to the Dry Touch spf 55 which is 19, so not a big difference. This absorbs quickly, leaves no white-ish cast whatsoever, and dries to a nice matte finish (unlike the really moist and shiny white cast of the Dry Touch). This also doesn't sting my face like the Dry Touch did, and I can use it close to my eyes and it doesn't bother me in the least, whereas the Dry Touch would make my eyes sting. It hasn't made me break out either(but I don't get pimples that often). My skin used to be oily, but now it's combination. This has a baby powder scent, which seemed pretty strong at first but now i'm used to it and don't even notice. If they ever make an unscented version of this, i'll be ecstatic because it'll be perfect. But you get like a huge bottle which will last you forever, and it's dirt cheap, so i'm not complaining.

Oh, how I love this product! Finally an avo based sunscreen that doesn't sting my sensitive skin! I've been relying on physical sunscreens for the past few years b/c using a combo of Differin/RAM/Benzaclin has made my skin super sensitive to most chemical sunscreen formulations. The downfall to using a physical sunscreen... the dreaded 'white effect'.
Discovering HT BF & TF SPF 50 Spray has been like a little slice of heaven! It doesn't really sting at all thanks to being only 2% Avo, it smells wonderul (like light baby powder), comes in a convenient spray bottle but dispenses like a thin lotion, and it (spf 50 spray) has a PPD of around 19. Just FYI for comparison, the HT BF & TP SPF 60 Lotion has a PPD of around 17-18. SO, grab the convenient spray when you're picking this one up! I use this product on my face AND my body! Wonderful matte finish... even during Florida's uber-humid summer months!
UPDATE 08/11/07: This product successfully passed my 'pimple test'. Absolutely no breakouts here at all. I'm not sure that I would classify this as HG status for me for two reasons: It stings the crap out of my eyes if I sweat while wearing it and it does sting a tiny bit upon application (still much less than other chemical based sunscreens). I'm keeping at a "5" rating b/c so far, it's the best stable product out there for my sensitive facial skin. continued >>

This sunscreen is wonderful! It is light and smells like baby powder, a plus for me (I hate the smell of sunscreen). This is not awfully thick or pasty like so many other ss products. It has a very high ppd (I forget what the skinboard said but IIRC it was 17 or 18). This ss sinks into my skin and leaves a soft feel. You must reapply often if at the beach even though it says it's highly water resistant (I learned you should reapply anyway!). This is similar to the light texture of Olay Complete SPF 15. It does NOT feel like a mask, I love that!
This ss is one of the few that doesn't sting my face (I use retin a micro). It doesn't migrate into my eyes and it doesn't leave a white cast on my skin.
I do wish they would lighten the scent, I can smell it a while after applying my MU and it gets annoying (but way better than a ss smell any day!!)
