I bought this sunscreen lotion from sasa.com--> a lot of asian cosmetics is available here, so you wouldn't find this at typical drugstores in Canada or the USA. I happened to get this in a 7g trial size (about 15 mL) on one of my purchases at sasa.com, but they also sell a larger 40 g size (not quite sure how many mls that is... probably about 90 ml?) for only $6.40 USD (~ $7 CAN).
it comes in a yellow bottle with a pointed nozzle, a yellow twist on cap and some shaking bits inside the bottle. The lotion is very watery, so you have to shake it well before usage to ensure that all the active ingredients are evenly distributed throughout. The bottle doesn't have any english on it, besides the name of the product, so I just assume you apply like regular sunscreen (20 minutes before exposure, reapply after heavily perspiring, swimming, etc...)
The things I love about this product are as follows:
- while it is watery, it dries quickly to a matte finish, and even controls oil somewhat
- it is virtually weightless!
- it is not drying (granted, I apply just a drop of moisturizer to dry areas prior to application
- only a drop or 2 is needed per face area (each cheek, nose, chin, forehead, etc).
The one thing I don't like about this is that it CAN leave a whitish cast if you over apply. But, as long as you're careful, you'll be fine (Or just apply some bronzer on top!)
This product is very inexpensive, and the delivery is pretty quick; it took 2 weeks flat for sasa.com to deliver mine from Hong Kong to Canada (Ontario) so it was speedy. I have been using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunblock (SPF 30 and 45) for the last year, and I thought that was the best sunblock was going to get; I tell you, asian sunscreen is even better! (since it's usually humid in singapore/HK they make sunscreens specifically tailored to that, so they're lighter in texture).
I really like this, so I doubt I'll wear Neutrogena again! Another plus is that the product is able to be contained in a smaller container (since you only need a few drops for each application), so it takes up less space in my makeup bag. You probably wouldn't be able to travel on planes with this (because of the watery consistency) but whatever. I'll buy the 40g size when my mini size runs out!
EDIT: Changed my mind. This doesn't have enough UVA protection; I still managed to get LOTS of freckles, even when wearing this EVERY day. continued >>
