I have fine-wavy long hair. This means a lot of volume and a good amount of fly-aways. I was always on the lookout for something that could tame my hair and enhance the curl. This is it. It smells 'natural'. It feels moisturizing, as if it's doing something good for your hair. It's not sticky or gel-like or crunchy. The curls look shiny, bouncy and healthy. The best part, It's great to touch. Wavy hair that's SOFT. And it lasts till your next wash. Even when the curls loosen, they look lovely.
I love this product. I've tried other products in the middle and always go back to this one. It's not really that expensive as it lasts forever. Oh, and all you got to do is rub the product between your palms, run them through your hair and scrunch. LET IT AIRDRY. No diffuser needed. I can not tell you the number of times people have complimented my hair and texture. They don't believe it's my natural hair because it looks too good to be true.
P.S.: the other Aveda products in the same range are useless!

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! It is kind of high in price to some but due to the fact you use so little it's really not that bad. I got a perm and I use only a little more than a pea size amount. This is not meant to increase the tightness of a curl. Just take away frizziness of curls. To make hair curlier using this you have to use a gel along with it. I really do think this is a fantastic product when used correctly. Less is more. I attend an Aveda Institute and this is one of my favorite products. It pairs well with confixor (Light/Med hold gel) or flaxseed aloe (Strong hold)
I would have given this a 5 if it was not so easy to use too much and weigh your hair down.

Uggggggggggggggggg! I bought this after I tried the pre styling product in this line and loved that, but I HATE this! It makes my hair so sticky and greasy looking. I don't know why this is such a bad product. I only use a nickel amount on my back length hair and it is still to much.

Great product by aveda for curly/ wavy hair. I apply a small (dime size) amount through damp hair and scrunch with mouse.
Pros- enhances curl like it says, smells great, moisterizing.
Cons- on the pricey side.

I started wearing my hair naturally about 3 years ago. I have naturally very curly very thick hair and used to hide it with a lot of blow drying and straightening. One day I got fed up and decided that some product somewhere would have to compliment what I have. I tried a wide variety of products that either left my hair crinkly, poofy/frizzy, greasy, lacking curls, or a combination of all of those. After about a year, and almost giving up, I was told to try Aveda's Be Curly products. I never find Shampoo or Conditioner to be very useful, more of a waste of money, and those two weren't an exception (for me at least). The Curl Enhancer though... Oh. My. God. I can honestly say I never thought I would love my natural hair. This product makes me love my hair and regret ever wishing I could naturally have straight simple hair. I used to hate my hair, loathe the genetics that provided me with this nuisance, cringe when my boyfriend touched my dry damaged strands, and now for the past couple years I haven't been able to get over how much I love the way my hair looks and feels.
Thanks to this product I don't have to slave over a blowdryer. I can love the way my hair looks AND feels!
I also use a bit of Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair prior to putting on the Curl Enhancer.

I used Be Curly Curl Enhancer after using Be Curly Shampoo and Conditioner. I also used it alone and after Be Curly Style Prep. No matter how I used it, my hair felt soft and gummy, it looked dull, and my curls weren't enhanced at all.
I use other Aveda shampoos and conditioners and they work very well, but Be Curly products just aren't for me.

At first I used the Be Curly enhancer without another styling product, and the enhancer didn't do a thing for me. However, when I combine it with my Tresemme volumizing mousse, I get a great result, better than with the mousse alone. I put a small amount of the Aveda product in my damp hair (I find it works without using on dripping wet hair), then follow with the mousse. I scrunch my hair gently, then use my dryer with the diffuser. My hair is done in 3 minutes, total. I'm growing my locks out from a Carey Mulligan short style, and having the wavy curls and frizz under control makes the process a little easier. Wish it weren't so expensive, though.

This is the SOLUTION for me! I have wavy - med curly hair, mostly frizzy when I let it air dry. I have been straightening 20 minutes every morning for the past 10 years! '
then a friend turned me onto this product and I LOVE IT! It really does a great job at defining my curls - separating them and eliminating frizz and I don't feel like there is product in my hair at all ...
This is not a turn your hair from straight to curly product, it's an enhance your curl or wave product,
I put a looney size in the palm of my hand (I have long hair) and I scrunch from the bottom and leave the top 5 Inches of my hair alone. As it dries (takes a good hour or more for my hair) the curls just get better and better!
LOVE IT

I love this product. I have wavy hair, but no curls. That is; without this curl enhancer. I only use it after washing my hair, and I find that mixed with the aveda confoxor liquid gel the curls really hold untill the next day. I apply a small amount of the mix into my towel dry hair, twist strands of hair around my finger to give it more curl, and then blowdry with a diffuser. Hello curls!

I've changed my review on this product because it does work fairly well.
A nice natural product that gives shine to the hair.
Will give curls to naturally wavy hair 'if' carefully dryed with a diffuser and 'if' you make sure that you leave and do not touch the curls.
If you run your fingers through the hair the curls will come out.
This is a soft product. The curl will come out after a bit. Some of the more chemical rich products will keep tighter curls that last longer but on balance I would rather have a natural product that produces a less curly effect.

This is a pretty good product for enhancing curl; it works better than others I have tried, but it doesn't keep frizzies away.
Still looking for my HG.

This along with Crema Care by Redken are the only truly remarkable products for very curly hair I've seen to date. I hope Aveda never discontinues this product. 3C.

I really like this product. It doesn't produce miracles but it gives my hair that little extra umph. It's best I go to trouble of the whole routine, but I only really do that for special occasions (I don't like to spend more than a half hour on my whole look on a normal day). Still, I sometimes just run some through my hair, scrunch iit up a bit, on my way out the door and it seems to help a bit. Still looking for an awesome day to day curl enhancer, but this isn't bad.

Just like the conditioner, this is a must have for curly haired girls :) I've tried everything, and this is the only product that helps me get the most natural, beautiful and healthy curls.

I liked this product for the first few weeks I used it. I would mix it with the Aveda Confixor gel and distribute through wet hair after my leave-in conditioner and let air dry. At first it made my curls shiny and bouncy. After a few weeks it made them dull and limp. It was weird. I discovered that it has protein in it, which isn't good for my hair. But it also started to make my hair feel dirty and gunky, like it was creating buildup that I couldn't remove. I will not repurchase.

I have curly hair and I've found some products never seem to work well for me. It could be just my application, but it's not worth the trouble for me. My hairdresser recommended this to me and I am in love. I apply it to soaking wet hair and letting it air dry, but it definitely seems to get best results with a diffuser. It's a little expensive, but I don't think you need much to get great curls.

I really like this product. The directions say to apply it to dry hair, but I found that didn't work for me. What's worked best for me is to mix this in my hand with the Aveda Be Curly Curl Control lotion (about a 50/50 mix) and to put it right on my soaking wet hair after I apply some leave-in conditioner. After I rake the mixture through my hair, I scrunch with a microfiber towel to remove extra moisture and then plop/plunk my hair in a microfiber turban for 20 minutes or so. I used to air dry my hair, but I've found that a few minutes with the diffuser dryer really makes these products perform much better than air drying. I spend only between 2 - 3 minutes drying my hair, but it really makes a big difference. I'm not happy with the price of the products and the smell isn't the greatest, but I've been very (and consistently!) happy with the way my hair looks since I've been using them together and with the dryer and I'll keep buying them.

This stuff smells...special to say the least. But I'm African-American with THICK 3c coils in the back and I'm guessing 3b in the front and this stuff makes everything curl up even more. I use this first and then a curl creme on top, and my hair loves it.

I wonder if this works better for ladies with tight spiral curls? I have thick, wavy/curly hair, and if I scrunch some product into it and allow it to air-dry, I usually get a nice mermaid look. This cream doesn't do much for me, though. I don't see any more definition to my curls, and it doesn't eliminate frizz very well.

BEST PRODUCT FOR CURLY/WAVY HAIR!!!!
The only reason I gave this product a 2 in Packaging is because I'm used to buying the huge 34 oz bottle of Bumble & Bumble's Curl Conscious. So it's kind of an inconvenience for me that I have to buy this product every 2 months in pairs. If someone gives this product a bad review its because they aren't using it correctly!
This is a curl enhancer, and it does just that. This product needs to be used combined with another curl creme to give you that hold that will last. Aveda's amazing curl enhancer gives them that shape. I suggest to apply while your hair is wet in sections to make sure your ends are covered, then diffuse! All girls with curly wavy hair need to have a diffuser, its 2009 i mean they are inexpensive and as necessary as a wide tooth comb! Diffuse until your hair is like 80% dry, then sparingly and carefully apply your other curl creme with more hold like Bumble & Bumble's which i love too but after my Aveda! Feel free to contact me for details
I have done my curl process to over 5 different people from thick & kinky, to medium and wavy hair. And they all end up amazed at how GORGEOUS and coiled their hair ends up! continued >>
