Total waste of money! This product cannot be used on wet hair and is essentially just a very overpriced mediocre finishing product. Plus, if you use too much your hair is weighed down and feels gunky. Try any other finishing product and also switch over to aveda's brand new Be Curly Style Prep which is awesome! Apply to wet or damp day 2 hair. It makes it really curly with a touch of hold.

I have very fine, frizzy, long curly hair. This works great on my hair to give it shine and reduce frizz after I have let it air-dry. It doesn't leave my hair feeling soft, but I don't care about that. Nothing I have found reduces frizz and adds shine without killing volume like this does. No product I have found is perfect. If you have very thick hair this might not be for you, but I love it. Great light product for fine frizzy hair.

This is the stuff in the grey stubby bottle. I really like it for taming flyaways and giving a little funky shape to my short fine hair. I have a choppy crop with longish layers and this adds shine and gives enough definition to avoid the dreaded helmet head look after blow drying. There's not much hold, I like the Light Elements Defining Whip for that but this gives a lovely natural look.
It's important not to use too much and to ensure that you distribute it evenly but with my scanty amount of hair I find that the case with most products.
I think the bottle I have has lasted 2 years already and still more than half full. I'd buy it again if I ever run out.

Ive stayed away from this product because Ive heard not so good reviews but I tried it because I got it in a swap. Now its a staple of mine. I have dry/course/wavy hair and this puts in moisture while holding my curl..So now I dont have to use as much gel & i avoid that crunch. My waves are soft/not frizzy and hold. My hair routine is aveda be curly mixed with pantene curl control spray gel. Then once my air is dried I apply curl contro to almost each wave. & the days I dont wash my hair, i refresh it with a spritz of pantene spray gel and a touch of curl control. Wouldve gave 5 lippies but the smell could be better(which it was like the rest of aveda products). continued >>

well, I was really disappointed by this product. I have this short and super soft hair with some natural curls and my hairdresser recommended me this product. I tried, but it didnt nothing for me rather than add an extra bit of smell to my hair~I have to say, theres no control at all!

I normally use the Curl Enhancing Lotion and I love it. I saw that this product made Marie Claire's 25 Life Changing Products List so I gave it a shot. It made my hair very dry. Defines curls but leaves hair crunchy and I could have eaily used gel for a fraction of the cost if that's the look I was going for. Eww.

I really like this product. The directions say to apply it to dry hair, but I found that didn't work for me. What's worked best for me is to mix this in my hand with the Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer lotion (about a 50/50 mix) and to put it right on my soaking wet hair after I apply some leave-in conditioner. After I rake the mixture through my hair, I scrunch with a microfiber towel to remove extra moisture and then plop/plunk my hair in a microfiber turban for 20 minutes or so. I used to air dry my hair, but I've found that a few minutes with the diffuser dryer really makes these products perform much better than air drying. I spend only between 2 - 3 minutes drying my hair, but it really makes a big difference. I'm not happy with the price of the products and the smell isn't the greatest, but I've been very (and consistently!) happy with the way my hair looks since I've been using them together and with the dryer and I'll keep buying them.

I never used this, but my best friend in high school did and her hair would look super dry, super fragile, and not so much curly as 80s White Snake blow-outty.

Maybe I use this the wrong way, but I have wavy mid-back-length hair that gets way too poofy if I don't use a lot of product on it. I admire the look of glossy long defined Latino curls but just can't get my hair to do that. Many products such as gels do nothing or get too stiff.
But I rub this through my wet hair after conditioning, and my hair dries naturally into waves and ringlets, which I love! I usually put Aussie Sprunch on top of this to keep the shape this lotion gives. I appreciate all the information about using a diffuser on curly hair and have bought one for my blowdryer, which I never used before because it seemed to blow out all my curls.
I feel the formula must have been changed, because the smell is much milder and not detectable once it's on. I just wish this tiny tube, which looks like a deodorant, was not so expensive for the small amount, but you really don't need much, even for long hair, and you do get what you pay for.

I love this cream! I've got chin length, layered curly hair. I only use this after blow drying with a diffuser, never on wet hair. I use a small amount and flip hair upside down to scrunch onto to the tips, then flip back for a little on the top layer. Instantly see the difference, flyaways are smoothed down and the tips are perfectly curled. I think it's kind of pricey for the small amount you get but it works really well for me. Not sure that it will still work as well when I grow my hair long again, but will buy again for now.

Average at best. I agree with the reviewers who say not to use it on wet hair. When I do, my hair is crispy and completely set in the shape it dries in. However, I don't find it amazing when used on dry hair, either. It calms the frizzies for a while, but an hour or so later they are back again. There are better curl creams on the market for less money. This one does not justify the price tag.

I have rated Aveda Be Curly Curl Control a 4 because it meets my needs: smooths the ends of my waves, helps control frizz, defines curls/waves, and has no silicones. This product is not intended to be put on wet hair - it is a balm, and needs to be emulsified before putting on dried hair. My hair is dry, wavy (2b) that borders on loose curls. I am on a sulfate and silicone free hair routine.
My routine: after shampooing/conditioning, I scrunch in a bit of leave-in conditioner, then some gel, and then scrunch out excess water with a microfiber towel. I plop my hair (see jessicurl.com for a video tutorial - she calls it 'plunking') and then blow dry it with a diffuser. Once my hair is dry, it has quite a bit of volume, some wayward strands, and a few fuzzy ends. I squeeze some Curl Conrol into my palm (about a dime size) and rub my hands together, then scrunch the underneath of my hair and front layers. Then I take a smaller amount (about a pea size), rub my hands together, then run my hand over the top layers of my hair.
This product is *not* a curl enhancer but is simply intended to define waves/curls and control frizz. Do not put it on wet hair! And a little goes a long way - this can easily get too greasy so experiment with different amounts. continued >>

I had a stylist apply this to a small section of my hair. Wasn't really impressed. Didn't do anything at all at face value, and made it feel a little dry. But I do love all the other Be Curly products. I just don't see a need to buy this.

I wasn't completely wowed by this one, but I did found that it tames frizzies--my hair has a very soft curl to it (ie, I need gel to give it enough hold to curl in the first place), so I would guess that you girls with truly curly hair would like it. You just want to use a very small amount, this stuff is potent!

At first, I hated this, (I even returned it) but later that day after my hair was totally dry, it looked really good! And I actually received a compliment from a woman, who said she loved my hair! I would still not use this again, I could not get it to repeat the way it looked that day.
