This is not a review for the product in question but I found the ‘Photoderm AKN Mat’ in its oil free fluid (lotion) form in SPF 40/ UVA 26. It is for Combination/ Oily skin and boasts an invisible texture with ‘mattifying’ properties. I am dark skinned and although this goes on with a purply whitish cast it sets to a fairly transparent velvety finish, I love the way it feels on the skin and I characteristically have sunscreen intolerant skin, can’t handle the way most sunscreens feel on my face. I’m not sure if this is HG yet as it takes my skin anywhere from a day to two weeks to react adversely. The cons I foresee with this product are its lack of moisturizing properties (quite matte) and also the fact that it contains silicones (may be pore clogging for some). Wow, isn't it greasy. I tried it a few times and I don't need to use it again (see update below). On top of being greasy it makes my skin even more oily than it is. I forgot about oil blotting sheets long time ago, but last two days I have been using them a lot, every hour blotting blotting blotting. Last two evenings I had to squeeze a lot of gunk out of my pores because this sunscreen clogged them or it made my skin to produce so much oil which caused all these clogs. I did not use any moisturizer under ss today, and it looked ok at first, but just after a few minutes I was an oil slick. It is runny watery lotion, but very greasy. I wish they would put some alcohol in it instead of emollients since it is designed for oily skin. I don't even care if it offers good sun protection at this point. I must admit that my skin doesn't look blotchy, dull and dead after Bioderma akn like it does after Sofina Lucent (which goes beautifully). It may provide great coverage (if you do not have enlarged pores) and look elegant and matte on dry/normal skin, a moisturizer and ss in one hence 3 lippies. Well this is going to be another addition to my neck and hands sunscreen collection :0) Update. AKN looked fine on my DRY skin after a facial (I usually have normal/oily skin), no moisturizer, of course I still needed to blot, I rubbed it in, I used rice/silk primer on top of it, then mmu, and rice/silk primer on top of mmu again, sounds like too much powder, but it helped. I did not have as many clogs that time as I had when I used it on oily skin, and they are much nicer than zillions of nasty clogs I got from Sofina. But it broke me out in cysts (algae extract?). I also do not understand presence of glycolic acid here, isn't it suppose to make skin more sensitive to sun rays? How does it add to sun protection? but it's stable, right... If you have very oily skin try bioderma spf 40 spray before trying akn one. People with cancer or other dangerous skin conditions please try Spirig Daylong.
Guys, I am so sick of all these pore clogging sunscreens and stuff, I only want no clogged pores and look ok right now, not tomorrow, how much younger do you think you are going to look when you are 70?? after torturing yourself for years using this crap no matter what, trying to camouflage it in the morning and remove it at the end of the day? like 68? good luck!

I was a devoted user of BIO and THP laits before they were discontinued. Luckily this has filled the void nicely. It sinks in quickly and is very light on the skin. I wear mineral makeup over it and the texture is fine. My skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts and I have no problems with this sunscreen. It's a bit expensive with shipping costs rising as they have. I order several bottles at a time through tubotica.com to cut the cost down a bit but the shipping is still almost as much as the product.

this is intended for oily, acne prone skin, it's really light in texture, a little shiny but with somepowder it's good. it has never added to breakouts/clogged pores, it doesn't sting at all, over all this is my very favorite ss and i feel like i've tried a million. i am very prone to pigmentation issues so i love that is a ppd of 26.

This stung, i could smell the alcohol. It left me with red blotches after removal so i don't think i'll be getting this again.
Texture-wise, it's a little thicker than LRP fluide extreme. It leaves a bit of shine on face, no white cast that i could see.
So this may be a good choice for someone with less sensitive skin.

I love the texture of this - it's light and non-greasy. I usually use Sage SPF 25 but find that the Bioderma feels better and doesn't cause my face to have an oily sheen and is great under foundation. I didn't have any problem with the white cast as others have had. I'm on my second bottle of this and will repurchase again.

I agree very much with DKER's review. I like it more psychologically than in reality, as it does leave a very noticeable film on the skin that doesn't ever settle into a nice finish. It is light, but stays shiny, and it is indeed whitening, thanks to the Tinosorb in it. I prefer it to the Biolait spf 30 (I was using an older formula, and it was thicker and tended to peel more) but I only reach for this sunscreen when I know for certain I'm going to be outdorrs for long periods of time. I'm a guy, by the way, and so I have to resort to some sort of starch to matte it down, or my oily face just contributes too much for this to be acceptable. I also find I experience a bit of irritation with this, too, as my face feels a little warm and pink after applying and at the end of the day when washing it off. I grab my Shiseido spf 55 lotion (I know, low PPD) most days, as the finish is far superior for people with combo or oily skin.

I used a sample of this for 4 days in a row. It is a nice light fluid, leaves sort of a dry-oil feel. Which is to say that it is not overly heavy or sticky, but it leaves a sheen and you will feel it on. White cast is minimal, easily dealt with using bronzer or a drop of the Bioderma tinted cream. After the 3rd day, this started to have a drying effect on my skin, which I think is from the glycolic acid content of this sunscreen. It has not caused much of a clogged pore problem, again probably because they include the glycolic acid in the sunscreen.
All in all, this was a bit time consuming to use, having to rub in, let dry, re-rub, and apply mattifier or powder to get a socially acceptable look. I do not think this would be a great sunscreen for sweaty hot days, as it never really 'sunk' in, anytime I touched my face (like to blow my nose) some sunscreen rubbed off. I also had to blot quite a bit....without sunscreen during this time of year I rarely have to use blotting tissues. The one day I used a mattifier (Dermadoctor Tease Zone) over top, it did stay in place better, but that was a 20 minute ordeal and left me no time to put concealer on a zit before I had to leave.
All in all, its a decent sunscreen with good protection. But not a HG by many means. I would have given this 3.5 if that was an option.
