My friend uses it. So I tolerate it) it is way too heavy and makes her look older to me

I loved the fruitiness of this scent and I'm a big fan of jasmine. This lingers on the skin to develop into a scent of expensive soap- which is very becoming and gets a lot of compliments whenever I wear it.
However, it is pretty expensive and I would not wear this every day as it is a touch too strong for work/gym trips. I usually wear this for evenings out. I would consider re-purchasing if I were to run out. So far, I've had this for over two years.

My God I love this fragrance. I got a sample of it three years ago at Sephora and used it all up immediately. I've only recently been able to afford a full size bottle. It's telling that after three years, I remembered this enough to go straight for it when I had the money for a new perfume. The scent is hard to describe... It's definitely warm and rich, but subtle. Bergamont, amber, maybe some vanilla, vetiver, complex, understated, but sophisticated. Casual and elegant at the same time. I haven't had the same staying power problems that others have mentioned. It becomes deeper and richer as it wears, maybe a bit less noticeable, but it's still there. I love this scent's subtlety and complexity, its warmth, and its richness. I have a feeling I'll be buying this one for years to come.

I got this as a sample when buying Hugo Boss Femme. I left it lying around the bathroom for a while, and got whiffs of something very nice & sweet whenever I was around it. So I decided to try it and I have to say, I really like the topnotes in this fragrance. They're sweet and special and unlike anything I have smelled in a perfume for a long time. However, those exhilarating topnotes disappear quite quickly and the scent turns more and more soapy as time goes by. Not Samsara soapy, but Maja soapy (urgh). For me this turned out to be a scrubber. continued >>

this was nice, it has a slight old lady smell to it, but still a little nice. But for $98 its not that nice.

Not a bottle to carry around, it's a lead weight. Invest in a purse spray/ Travalo.
I smell not one of those fruity notes, the jasmine is weak for my liking, and the lack of spice and exotic feel to this fragrance would put in a floral vanilla musk category. What I seem to be smelling on my skin is white flowers, and all of those base notes, yes they are true to their word. It does develop, but I get no top notes (unless they are solely alcohol based), the middle notes for an hour, two at most, before the base kicks in. The vanilla musk, is certainly strong and sticks around. I don't love it, neither do I hate it, it's merely an oh that's quite nice reaction.
The fragrance does have excellent longevity on my skin, probably eight hours, and I would describe the projection as moderate. I would like to point out longevity and the perception of the fragrance is a personal one, and is very much dependent on body fragrance.
D&G call this a fragrance with character I expected a big Glamazon Giselle type fragrance that would really turn heads. I would say this is for a much more quiet and reserved character, more like Leona Lewis before she got a fringe. I do think this is such a shame Dolce and Gabbana can produce some stunning perfumes with oodles of character the discontinued By, Dolce Gabanna and Light Blue have all got the character and have the head-turning reaction when you wear them.
When and who should wear this? With all that vanilla-musk this is a definite autumn-winter affair, and could probably do office, casual and night perfectly well. Age wise, I'm in my 20s and I find this powdery, so I would say 30 plus, but if you are young and like powdery, but don't want to smell like a baby, this one would be a nice, inoffensive choice. continued >>

This is my favourite fragrance and has been for a couple of years. That is a big deal for me as I used to swap around, but this is consistency my go to for dates and nights out.
I have received lots of compliments when I wear this. The purse spray is super handy too (pack of 4 x 75ml) I purchased duty free and they are great for in my going out clutch. Love it!!!

I first used The One 3 years ago. I didn't really like it back then because I was into girly, gourmand/vanilla scents and this smelled too flowery and a little bit soapy to my nose. I had received this as a birthday gift from a dear co-worker so I kept the bottle for sentimental reasons.
I never bothered to wait until the drydown, every time I tried it I washed it off quite soon or sprayed something else over it - the scent just wasn't 'me'. So I looked at the bottle from time to time but never tried the scent again.
Like a week ago, on a bright sunny morning as I was cleaning the bathroom, I felt drawn to the bottle with the golden cap and the light honey colored liquid in it. I spritzed some on my wrist and forgot about it. Like an hour later I fell in love.. it's the drydown that I particularly adore about this scent. It's warm, sensual, not too sweet and very snuggly. I wore this to a concert last night and the guys in the crowd seemed to lean in just to take a sniff, lol. Also received compliments from male friends.. guys really seem to love this. I'm like walking in a soft, sparkly, golden cloud when I wear this (lovely sillage), it makes me feel good about myself and confident and elegant yet playful. It's not too sexy, smells clean and it is appropriate for work and special occasions. I can really smell the peach, the lychee and the mandarin in the beginning (I have an asian background so that makes me love this perfume even more).
Btw, the drydown reminds me strongly of Burberry Classic EDP (notes: Black Currant, Green Apple, Peach, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vanilla).
But overall, The One is softer, more balanced to my nose and less 'aggressive' (notes: Mandarin, Bergamote, Lychee, Peach, Jasmine, Madonna lily, Muguet, Plum, Vetiver, Vanilla, Amber, Musk).
I love the shape of the bottle and the golden top, it's simple and chic. And "1" is my favorite number :-)
I've finally found my HG (it was patiently waiting in my bathroom for 3 years lol), this will become my signature scent.. it is The One.

I recently went to my local Sephora and got a sample of this. I am wearing it right now. To me, it smells like a slightly deep, simple vanilla smell. I definitely prefer the Rose One to this. It doesn't necessarily smell cheap because the notes meld together nicely. However, I got an instant headache when I first sprayed it, now it simply smells like a soft vanilla smell, nothing else. If you don't like your perfume to make a statement, this one might be a good choice.

Been reading these reviews and it always amazes me how ppl can have such different opinions but to me this is about as good as it gets.
What I love about this perfume is the complexity of the scent, a little fruit, little sugar, little woody, little citrus...little bit of everything but never just one thing. I love it.
Its all those beautiful things wrapped up in a warm embracing scent.
EDIT: I changed my mind on this one as I wanted a scent that was a little more unique then The One - so I removed a lippie.

There are many different reviews here, some people like it some people hate it.
The reason is, this perfume smells different on different people.
My friend thinks it's way too sweet, because everything smells like sugary, vanillish on her.
To me, this is like no other. Floral, very little spicy and maybe sweet.
When someone uses this, you notice that this is "D&G The One" continued >>

Eh. Smells just like the pink colored Herbal Essences shampoo back when it was in a clear bottle with a green lid.
Boring.

I sniffed this in Sephora and it was instantly familiar. Smells like a bergamot-scented oil my mother used on my hair when I was a kid. Not a pleasant memory. No thanks.

I received a deluxe sample size of this from sephora so I can't comment on the price or the packaging. The fragrance itself is nice, feminine and interesting, but nothing I would immediately rush out to buy. I'm terrible at describing the base notes etc so I'll leave that to other reviewers. All I can say is that it is pleasant. I used up my sample in a couple of days, if I had another then I would use this too. I just don't think it is special enough to purchase.

The One is probably my favorite perfume. [Others I have are Guilty, Brit, and Jasmin Noir, and I like Flowerbomb, Narciso Rodriguez, and so on] I don't know what made me pick this up and smell it the first time, but the more time goes on, the more amazing and unique this smells. I'm picky about my fragrances, and have no problem with 'department store' perfumes as long as they actually stick out [few do], and although I want to like them as such a perfume snob, often find niche perfumes too heavy, strange, or away from my tastes. More about the art of perfume than the pleasure of wearing it. If there must be a comparison, I categorize these into the allegorical world of cinema: the clone blockbuster Hollywood films are most dept store frags; the especially good but random and few and far between mainstream films are the good dept store frags, and 3rd/art cinema would be the niche perfume houses.
The One falls into that second category - it sparkles [I'm not sure HOW perfumes 'sparkle,' but this one most certainly does] througout its entire life, and oozes charm and sophistication. In my head I see it as a delicately sparkly, pale gold mist or aura surrounding the air around a person like a powerful cloak. The classiness of this perfume makes it one that is inappropriate for teeny boppers, and although many say that it is appropriate for office-wear, I wouldn't waste such a gorgeous scent at the office. To me, it is definitely an 'event' or 'night' scent - romantic and full of charm, with an edge of sultry seduction, but carries itself like a confident and independent woman. I would wear this on a date, to a wedding [to my own DEFINITELY!], to any occasion where I could wear a gown [I always imagine pale gold and red-carpet style], or even at night for a good snuggle. This is definitely a sweet scent, with the fruits and florals so well blended that they are almost indistinguishable [and to a paltry nose like mine, they are] but the champagne-like sparkly 'fizz' that carries for the entire scent [I didn't notice too much evolution in this, but I never do anymore in scents.] keeps it from becoming cloying. It is sweet, but dewy, fresh and clean. This one is red carpet all the way. The most romantic, sophisticated thing I own. I haven't yet smelled 'cinema,' but this is how I imagine the glorious glamour [modern day shimmery elegance, not the sultry red lips of yore] to smell like - everything else will pale in comparison.
EDIT 03/2012
This remains, and has become even more so, my all-time favorite scent, especially when compared with anything else I know or have sniffed. Something about it is just so unique, sparkly and uplifting and classy and sophisticated and ohhhh. Captivating! Stands out, just doesn't get old, and is a signature scent if ever there was one.
